A hairy question ?

Greetings dear brothers and sisters

A few hairy questions :)

Should Christian men have long hair or short hair?

Should this verse be applied today......or does the context have a different implication?

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him
1 Corinthians 11:14

Should Christian men have beards? Or should they shave?

( As a child I was in the brethren fellowship and all men had short hair and were clean shaven because they believed that was correct.)

Is there a right or a wrong?

Looking forward to some peaceful interesting responses.
Please add scripture.
The bible is the most contemporary book in the world...Its always current It's current now......now......now....now. No matter when you look at it, no matter when you say 'now' the bible is current....So yes. That scripture applies now. But yes....beards on men are not a thing in the bible. Long hair is. So gentlemen....trim your beards, you are not Sasquatch.....Or a Yowie in Australia.

Of course back in ancient times, you had to have short hair and a trimmed beard. After all, barbers and hairdressers were in every market place and they were cheap to hire. Scissors were invented by adam, so were also plentiful and cheap for anyone to purchase. Razor blades were also a thing back then, so trimming your beard and getting a shave was no big deal, I believe the shaving cream of the time was very good. And of course everyone lived in cities and villages, no one was nomadic or travelled as traders etc, so getting a haircut was simple. Spare a thought for Jermemiah or John the Baptist who was locked up in prison for months, oh the blasphemy of emerging from there with long hair and untrimmed beard!

A couple of other seemingly controversial verses that are similar...

Should a woman have short hair?

1Cor 11:15; but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

Should a man wear a hat while praying?

1Cor 11:4; Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying disgraces his head.

Should a woman NOT wear a hat while praying?

1Cor 11:5; But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head, for she is one and the same as the woman whose head is shaved.
1Cor 11:6; For if a woman does not cover her head, let her also have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head.
1Cor 11:7; For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.

It's interesting that in both one of my Wesley commentaies and one of my Spurgeon commentaries about these verses, a woman's short hair was a sign of rebellion.

Many have changed the new ceremonial law ( 1 Corinthians11) as a shadow of the good things to come (our new incorruptible bodies) into a fashion statement for the time then present destroying the wonderful demonstration of the parable.

I don't think its ever how long .

Men with there head of hair uncovered represents the glory of our unseen God, the head of the bride his church. .She is made up of both men and woman, as a new creation. Woman are a glory to men . But God has not left her without a represented glory of her own, her hair, a Nazarene vow that Paul is shown under . Both men and women have their own representative glory of our unseen Holy God together to represent the unseen things of faith written in parables .

In the old testament the use of the ceremonial law or Nazarene vow was used when a person form another nation had received the hearing of faith . The woman who represent the bride of Christ . Not only was required to shave her hair to show shame but also pare her nails . Two beauty treatments today.

It would appear the use of dead things to bring new life, the Nazarene vow .

Satan the apposing spirit would have mankind believe we are already as new creatures have received our new bodies and there is no distinction between men and woman of the flesh no gender identification. non binary . . The skies the limit (LGBT)

Deuteronomy 21:11-13King James Version And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;
And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

She took the temporal Nazarene vow as born again

In Revelation the father of lies is shown coming in all false glory destroying the temporal gender .

Revelation 9: 6-8 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
