Acts 8:1-8 NKJV
Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison. 4Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. 5Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8And there was great joy in that city.
Persecution of Christ Followers
Saul (who later became the apostle Paul after our Lord transformed his heart and mind and he became a follower of Jesus Christ) had just approved of the stoning and death of the deacon Stephen, a man of God who had just spoken truth to the people. And now a great persecution against the church arose, and most of the believers in Jesus Christ were scattered. And Saul was a central figure in the persecution of Christ’s followers, i.e. the church.
But I love what this says next. Therefore, those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Amen! Praise Jesus! Those who were Christ followers did not let persecution and the real possibility of death keep them from sharing the message of the gospel with the people of the world. And that is a sign of real biblical faith in action, when we care more about the salvation of the people than we do about how we are treated in return.
And when Philip went down to the city of Samaria preaching Christ to them, multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, and many people were healed of infirmities, and many people were delivered from unclean spirits. Praise Jesus! Sometimes what is truly bad can have a good result. Although tragedy and death are horrible, if that is what it takes to produce spiritual life in people by faith in Jesus, then God be praised.
Last Days
I believe we are living in the last days before the return of Christ, and that the kinds of things which were happening to the Christ followers at the time of Stephen’s death are happening today, only more widespread, and at the hands of the wealthy and powerful of this world who are the ones truly running the world we live in. And this includes at the hands of the president of the USA and his counterpart in the political nation called “Israel.”
I read something today, apparently spoken by the US president, where he said, “Therefore, I am mandatorily requesting that all Countries immediately sign the Abraham Accords, and that, if Iran signs its Agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it would be an Honor to have them also be a part of this unparalleled World Coalition.” Now, this is sounding to me more like the one world order of the beast of Revelation.
Whether or not this is worldwide or just confined to a small set of world countries, this is not a good thing. And this is about one or two world countries dominating the other countries of the world and forcing them into some kind of “unparalleled World Coalition,” which sounds a whole lot like the mark of the beast and his one world order. And the political nation called “Israel” is party to this and/or they are the ones actually initiating it.
The Future
I am not God, and I am not some kind of magician with a “crystal ball” to tell me what is going to happen next. But I am a follower of Jesus Christ by faith in the Lord Jesus. And I am a student of the Scriptures. And I believe there are very obvious signs that we are living in the very last days before the return of Christ, and that the beast of Revelation is rising, and it is taking over the nations of the world, which we can see evidence of.
And sadly, it appears that the president of my nation is definitely doing and speaking what appears to fit with the prophesies of Scripture about the beast, and about the antichrist, and about the events of these last days. More and more it appears that we are moving quickly ahead to that mark of the beast and us not being able to buy or sell unless we take the mark (influence, character, nature) of the beast upon our own lives.
And let me state here that the physical and political nation called “Israel” is not biblical Israel. They are not the Israel of God, for, as a nation, they have denied Jesus as the Christ, which makes them antichrist (1 John 2:22). All who believe in Jesus Christ, who have died with him to sin, and who are following our Lord in obedience to his commands are biblical Israel, whether Jew or Gentile. So don’t worship the political nation of Israel, as many do.

Tick tock, tick tock, time is a passing.
The time on the clock keeps ticking
While the church is fast a-sleeping.
Satan’s on a rampage
‘Cause his time is running out.
Will you worship God the Father,
God the Son and Holy Spirit?
Will you obey all of His
Commands for you today?
Jesus died to pay your ransom,
So that you could be forgiven.
Won’t you come to Him in truth
And penitently pray to Him?
Tick tock, tick tock, time is a wasting.
The cross of our Lord awaits you.
Won’t you come and share His table,
Drink the cup and eat the bread
In memory of Him?
Take a heart examination,
And accept our God’s salvation.
Humbly bow in adoration
And proclaim His name.
He wants for you to believe in
Him who interceded for you
When He died for your sins
And He rose from death in victory.
Tick tock, tick tock, time’s end is nearing.
How He longs to take and keep you,
In His arms He wants to hold you,
If you will but come to Him
And call on Him today.
His desire is that you please Him
In all of your life’s ambitions;
Be a living sacrifice
And be transformed today.
Let Christ’s love and grace sustain you,
And His promises prepare you
For His soon return to earth
To gather all His saints to Him.
