Can someone Help me?

Actually -- 'we' are Supposed to be obeying God's Word. We are to be 'loving the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and our neighbor as ourselves.'

And we are to be placing our faith in the cross of Calvary. It does not matter what our background is -- 'we' come to God through Jesus Christ.

'We' are in the age of grace / the Church age. The Children of Israel / Jews are still very much around. Some Jews have come to accept Jesus Christ as their Promised Messiah. Lots have not.

I am currently trying to figure out what it really means to OBEY Jesus, I would just like to know y'alls thoughts about what it means to you. Because I have heard a bunch of different things while traveling and while preaching the Gospel to people and so I would like to know what it means to you guys.

To me it means that we have to listen to the things that Jesus says in the four Gospels, which are manly located in the Sermon on the Mount. I've heard others who say things such as all we do is just acknowledge his existence and we're good, some who say its the sinners prayer. I just want to get a new perspective, as always.

Jesus said in Matt 16:24 that whoever wants to be His disciple must 1. Deny themselves, 2. Carry their cross and 3. Follow Him.

1. Denying oneself - This entails giving up your desires. Your wants.
2. Carrying cross - Our cross is where He has placed us. Where He wants to use us. We must ''just do it''. Wake up in the morning and 'accept' this is the day that He has prepared for us.
3. Follow Him - I guess in His day this was obvious. Literally follow Him. Today I would say it speaks to listening to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit constantly convicts us to go and talk to someone. Go visit someone in need.

Aren't we really obeying God - though- His Word. Our ability To obey God is made possible through Jesus Christ's death, burial and bodily resurrection. A person Does need to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior in order To have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us and giving us the desire To obey Him.

Growing in the grace and knowledge of God would entail reading His Word and talking to Him in prayer. On a frequent basis.

"our cross" would be the daily / weekly/ monthly things He has for us to do. The phrase "carrying our cross" Can sound fairly negative -- like God wants us to do some 'thing' that we really don't want To do, The Holy Spirit Will put a desire in our hearts To do a particular thing. So it Won't be a hardship / drudgery.

And maybe the Holy Spirit will be 'telling' us to pay off some bills we have accumulated. Or to take More time to clean our place that we live. And in order To pay off our bills, we might have to take a second job instead of running around doing more Fun stuff.

To me it means we have to obey his voice in us (the holy spirit in you) also ..even in small things we need to obey even it's not logic because he knows the future and the unrevealed things .. He will lead us the whole day if we ask and we have to obey for our own good

Hi Lily,

You've already got it. Follow Jesus's commands.

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (Jn. 14:23 KJV)
