Oh, that God's people would embrace the Lord in such a way that the Spirit of Adoption would be manifest in their lives! Abba -- three times in the New Testament (Mark 14:36; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6) the Holy Spirit uses that precious word to illustrate our wonderful dependence upon, and union with, the Savior. It is almost impossible to translate this word selected by the Holy Spirit to so wonderfully describe our childlike disposition toward the Lord. It is the child's prattle. It is best expressed by our English word, "DaDa". It is the first uttering of the infant as he looks, with arms outstretched, to his father bending over him to lift him up. "DaDa", says the baby.

For years, I was profoundly moved by the intensity of the suffering of the Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. His agony was so intense. He cried out with a loud voice, and He sweat, as it were, great drops of blood. But there is something else in the Garden of Gethsemane as awesome as the intensity of His sorrow. When He asked His Father if it was possible to remove the cup from Him, He began His request with the precious words, "Abba, Father'.

Exactly one day before He would accomplish death and redemption on the cross, He looked up into the face of His Father, and in the agony of His soul, He said, "DaDA".

O, my friend, the indignity of those hours is forever past, and now our Lord is exalted at the Father's right hand. He has sent the Spirit of God into our hearts, crying in us, and causing us to cry, "Abba, Father". That is the spirit of Adoption! That is the childlike mark of maturity. That is the manifestation of our union with Him.

I know of nothing more wonderful than the fact that the Holy Spirit in my heart is crying out utterances of childlike dependence through me. He did not come into my heart, crying "Local Church", or "Missions", or "Discipleship", or "Ministry", or "Spiritual Gifts"; He came initially into my heart, crying, "Abba Father"! God has poured His life into me, and that very life cries out for more of His life.

Since the Holy Spirit is every praying that we realize the depths of our son ship and adoption, we may draw near to Him in childlike familiarity and trust. May this evidence of maturity mark our lives evermore."

One other note: Romans 8:27-8 is especially precious in light of understandings on "Abba Father". Verse 27 says:
"And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
Therefore, during our most troublesome times, Jesus our Intercessor is pleading with the Father, "Father, John Jones is your little child, and calls you 'DaDa'. Intercede for him now at this most terrible time in his life."
And, when the Father intercedes for all His 'John Jones' of this world, Romans 8:28 comes into reality:

"...all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
All because God has set up an "Abba Father" relationship with His Born Again children!

Thank you brother Zulu, God bless you.

I have found in my life, I speak Afrikaans, that I have become so dependent on God there is no turning back. I do not want to boast in any way, I want to express my words in a soft and simple manner.

I had great tribulation in my life and some days I still do, but God is my light. I never really had a real relationship with my earthly Dad, or Father, he was never there for me, he never said he loved me and I did not have a loving heart towards him.

I read what Lord Jesus told me one day, about a year and a half ago, Lord Jesus said:

Matthew 23:9
And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

Luke 12:32
"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

John 4:23
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

John 5:17
Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working."

There are many scriptures in the Word of God, but to continue. I say "pappa", which is Father in Afrikaans, I call God the Father my "pappa" everyday, in my head, in my heart and always knowing that He hears me, acknowledges me and says back "my boy", "my skapie" (my little sheepy). I always have that thought in my head when I say pappa, God says to me I'm His little sheepy.

God bless you
Much love

That is so true and we need to be reminded that is what Jesus does for us. He loves us so very much.

Thank you zulu for posting this today.

God bless :rose: :rainbow:

Well I don't think I'll be calling HIM Da,Da.

But I get your point.

And I do call HIM Father, Almighty Father at that.

Thank you for sharing this with us. And it gave me some comfort.

I find myself calling out to HIM alot. Especially when I feel like I'm loosing my way.

Sometimes I feel so far away & yet I know HE is so close.

><> ><> I do hope that we are all able to call God Daddy He love to hold us to cuddle us & tiggle us on occassions. We can accept this state of thing if we are truely children of the living God. :shade:

This allows men to cry, to declare their anger & love of Him openly before Him, to fear the power that He could unleash.

I do call Him "Daddy" in private moments, especially when I am longing for Him to come very close. Often when I am crying or in despair I also cry out to Him and call the Lord, "Daddy". It is not disrespectful. It is love, pure love, and it is intimacy between the Lord and me.

I did not have an earthly father either. He was angry and distant and suffered severe mental illness. It took me decades to figure out that God loves me. And I'm not going to stop calling him Daddy just because someone else is offended by it. It doesn't offend my Father.

One day in a vision or a dream or whatever it was---The Lord held me in His lap and told me He we would be my Daddy. He and Jesus said some wonderful things to me, that I will not repeat here. These things that the Lord told me in the vision, help me even today. I am not just a survivor (of child neglect, dysfuncional family.) I am an OVERCOMER. I overcome by the blood of the Lamb.

I can truly identify with what teraside shared.

Yes once you can get yourself to call the Daddy you are surely on the right track. As you said Dreamer, It is moments of complete surrender and complete meekness to the Lord when that happens.

I was thinking the same thing! Never heard this put in such a sweet, simple, straightforward powerful way. I love the simple truth in this. It cuts through all the religious nonsense, pride, self-exalting and other sorts of division. It shoots right to the Father in Heaven!

Zulu, excellent read brother thank you. I especially love the Scripture Teraside quoted. Really encouraging I must say :)

I love Romance 8, the whole chapter, its just a blessing.

I feel a sense of belonging or ownership whenever i call Him 'Abba'. Like a child in his dads strong arms, thats how i feel. There is security, love, Peace, joy name it all.....Abba Father!!!

Rom.8:15-17 " ....But you received the spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry Abba, Father. The spirit Himself testifys with our spirit that we are God's children......then we are heirs and joined heirs with christ." Halleluyah to the lamb of God!!

The King has been ruling and building His Kingdom with all wisdom, righteousness, and power for a few thousand years...and one of His little sons, having just gone from crawling to baby steps, toddles into the Throne room and says in a most earnest childlike way: "I`m ready Daddy, I`ll help you rule your Kingdom now!"

Yea, aint we ALL, all that ...with diapers full of poo too!

1 Corinthians 8:2 BBE

"If anyone seems to himself to have knowledge, so far he has not the right sort of knowledge about anything."

Yep we are all pretty full of ourselves ...but if we want to know how mature we really are...wait for it...look at how we [think, pray, act] when God is not giving us our own way...uh huh

It's really not all that absurd of a notion.

Psalm 8:2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

How demeaning to wickedness can you get?

Yea, aint we ALL, all that ...with diapers full of poo too!

They don't allow any foul substance in the presents of a King.
If he made it to the throne room it's only because the servants didn't flush him with the bath water.
