clairvoyance and christianity

Hi all, I have a gift I can not shake. First, I am in love & sold out for Jesus!
I see things before they happen & after. I see peoples faces & see bruises. I have asked a friend why he had his flashlight out during the day. He asked how did you know? We weren't near eachother at all. I'm sure I see Angel's. I pray a lot. I seek the Holy Spirit all day. I know what the Bible says about this so I've shied away from this gift when my Mom told me to stop talking about it when I was 4. I will see spirits upon people and all I can do is pray. I can believe the flashlight incident was for confirmation. I will pray about this. Is there anyone else like me? I see pain & hurting. I see pictures flash & they come true. How do I handle this? I am 44 now.
Thank you, V

Greetings @Princess V

You believe in the power of what you call a 'gift' in your life.....you say you cannot shake it

Do you believe that Jesus is more powerful, that He has conquered all......that He can and will deliver you from this lie that is controlling you

He is abundantly able!

Shew me Thy ways....teach me Thy paths...lead me in Thy truth
Psalm 25:4-5

Of course I believe Jesus can cure me of this. If I need curing. Thus far, I pray for what I see. I don't know how I can have the Holy Spirit yet have a demonic gift?

Hi Princess V.

I had never had supernatural gifts until I moved to a foreign country (I'm originally from the U.S) and then I began seeing many things that I did not wish to see. It was the beginning of a difficult and scary journey, but in the end, I was brought closer to the Lord, when I handed over my will and let him do the work. What you speak of sounds like divination to me and the bible speaks against this in several places.

The Story of Simon in Acts is also a good read
*I see that others have posted many verses as well

The book of James and the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John )were what helped keep me sane during this time. Also, I developed a deep relationship with Jesus. Divination is scary and in my case there were lots of evil spirits involved. What truly broke this in the end was that one night as I was falling asleep I said the Lord's Prayer (). I didn't just say it, but cried out the words. That night I had a dream where God showed me what I needed to do to change and also delivered the verse Isiah 5:1-5 into a basket in my lap.

I hope this helps. I understand what you are going through, and there is nothing worse than when scary stuff like this happening and you wanting it to end. Giving your will over to the Lord and letting Jesus do the work is a big part of it.

All the best

- Margo

Thank you Margo!

I don't know how I can have the Holy Spirit yet have a demonic gift?

That's a great question Princess,

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

When one is born again, they are born again spiritually. Their spirit is born again.

We are three part beings though. We have a body (flesh), a soul (mind, will, emotions), and a spirit. A born again Christian's spirit is made clean and sealed until the day of redemption (after Christ's second coming).

However, our souls and our bodies (flesh) are still corrupted and tainted by sin. Our souls are in the process of being saved (sanctification to be technical). God has made a covenant with those who are his to guard and keep their souls. Our sanctification is a process though that happens during the whole of our life in Christ. We can allow evil things into our soul (mind, will, emotions) when we aren't walking wisely in this world. Our flesh though, it is totally rotten, there is no saving it. "The flesh profits nothing." When Jesus returns, we aren't getting new souls, but we are getting new bodies. That's because souls are savable/redeemable but this flesh is not.

So, to answer your question (paraphrased), "how can someone have the Holy Spirit yet have a demonic gift?" It's the same as how a person can have the Holy Spirit and still have that corrupt sin nature in them too that is totally rotten. The sin nature is crucified because of Christ, but it still squirms and fights and causes all manner of evil in our lives. Yet, the Holy Spirit, in the temples that are our bodies, dwells right alongside that. Likewise, demonic things (which were defeated by Christ on the cross) can still find ground to exist in our flesh and our souls (mind, will, emotions) if we let them in. The problem is, we often don't know all the ground rules for these kind of things, and things like this can be let into our lives without us knowing. Also, those whom we are under in terms of authority (parents of kids, guardians) can also allows these things into our lives.

Our bodies are temples. The Temple in Jerusalem had three distinct parts, the Outer Court (flesh), the Inner Court (souls), and the Holy of Holies (spirit). The Holy Spirit dwells in a person's spirit. The Holy Spirit can and will strike down enemies of God if they try to enter the Holy of Holies (or anyone who is not permitted for that matter, there are obviously exception in the Old Testament scriptures though), but it is our job as keepers of our temple to keep the Inner Court and the Outer Court as free from God's enemies as we can. The Lord does not leave us to this alone though, if we will just ask for help. But, the fact remains that our enemy can come into either one of the courts, especially if we invite them. They are persistent too, once they get in, they will do everything in their power to resist being kicked back out.

I've known a few people that have inherited clairvoyant abilities through birth alone. they have had their "gifts" as long as they can remember. What they have is certainly not a gift from God.

The first step in solving a problem, is identifying that there is a problem, and then discovering what exactly it is and why it's there.

I'm glad you ran across this thread and I hope what I typed up is helpful,

Travis

Thank you Travis. Everything you wrote, makes sense. No dead people try talking to me btw. Another instant was my son was at his Dad's, a picture of him on a scooter flashed into my mind. I called his step mom and said, is Johnny okay? And even apologized for calling. She said, well yes, he is okay, his shoulder is hurt. He fell on his scooter. How did you know. I just said, Mothers intuition. Whatever that means lol. Because right now, I'm starting to think I have unannounced sin and this is why I'm seeing things but all my life?. I am a sinful person of course but certainly forgiven. I am very sold out for Jesus!! What about the gift of prophecy? Could this line up at all?
Thanks again!

Your welcome,

Hey, does this 'gift' of yours ever show you good things that God is going to do in the future, or is it just premonitions about people being hurt/injured and other bad things that are going to happen?

I see A-mazing things. I see glory upon people. Thats all I know to say.
Visions that come true. I pray a lot and will continue too.
I won't dive into this..I've always shied away. Just wanted to know if anyone else goes thru this.
Thank you

Some people have an extraordinary ability to lie. Some have a superb ability to cheat. There are assassins and hit men that have murdered people who have
never been caught. Certain thieves and robbers are bad at their craft and get caught right away. Other have robbed dozens of store and banks and still
haven't gotten caught. Some adults have an almost supernatural ability to seduce under age juveniles.

I wonder if God gave them these skills? Personally I don't believe so.

( Micah 5:12; Deut 18:14; Isa 44:25; Jer 29:8; Dan 2:27; Zec 10:2; Deut 18:10; 2 Kings 21:6; 2 Chron 33:6; ) in addition to the verses posted above.
Mathew states that you can use your "eye" (Not "eyes") for the "Light" Or for the "Darkness and how great is thy darkness? " Also, Satan is the deceiver. He twists and mimics God in every way and in his own way. Revelations was written when John " Was in the Spirit". The entire book of Revelations was written by what John saw in his vision. John even gives us a guideine to see if the spirits are from God or if they"re demons. John States that you can test the spirits by asking them to confess if Jesus Christ has cometh in the flesh and if they admit Jesus has cometh in the flesh they are from God. So the Bible even talks about talking to spirits. And about the adults and they're almost supernatural ability you stated they have: those are spirits and demons in them. It's not the same as being in the spirit. God can show you things, let you hear things, feel things, understand things, give you knowledge, etc. He is the Holy Spirit! Praise God, Amen

I have had similar things happen to me. I've felt others feelings my entire life. I've had visions, I've seen spirits, I have received knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of God. I've gained intuition to where I can feel things and know what will happen later on. This is all from the Holy Spirit. What I've noticed is that it's the way you use them and Mathew states "You can use your eye for the light or for the darkness, and how great is thou darkness. " You can use them for God and that is what I do. I've used my empath and intuition and asked God to give me understanding so I could serve Him: I was able to have more of a deep, intimate personal relationship with Him and he's shown me things I wouldn't have been able to see. I've devoted myself to God so deeply and I've felt His oh so everlasting love, Amen! He has shown me things and given me knowledge on so many things in the Bible and on His Earth. I've also used them to help others in need and talk about Christ with them. All these gifts I have are from the Holy Spirit. When I enter the spirit, I sometimes hear voices, I see images or scenes, I sometimes gain understanding and knowledge on something I wasn't to sure of, and I know when it's from God or a demon. I see things you wouodn't normally see and I keep my eyes on God. God is Almighty and I love Him more than anything! May God bless you and I hope this was the answer you were looking for.

clairvoyance
noun
1. the supernatural power of seeing objects or actions removed in space or time from natural viewing.
2. quick, intuitive knowledge of things and people; sagacity.

prophecy
noun
1. the foretelling or prediction of what is to come.
2. something that is declared by a prophet, especially a divinely inspired prediction, instruction, or exhortation.
3. a divinely inspired utterance or revelation:

Clairvoyance, IMO, is just Satan's counterfeit for the real gifts, the prophetic gifts:

1 Corinthians 12
7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

The thing about clairvoyance though, is that it is often sought after by people who want power over others. I've been around more than a few people who had "familiar spirits" who could know things they shouldn't know. They always used this as a power play, a way to control other people (often subtly). That lust for power is the heart of witchcraft. Clairvoyance falls under the category of witchcraft to me. The true charisma (gifts) from God are always edifying to the church (the body), there's nothing sideways about them. They are also given by the Holy Spirit at his will. They are "Empowered by one and the same Spirit," the power is not in ourselves, it is in Him. Nothing evil comes about because of the working of the Spirit. There's much evil associated with clairvoyance.

If you've had any dabbling with clairvoyance, I would repent and ask God to forgive you and restore you. That's nasty stuff.

Travis
Clairvoyance is "seeing" things. If you have allowed the Holy Spirit to enter you and you have chosen to serve God and to use it for Him, then it's not evil. Clairvoyance and prophecy have a big difference but are similar too. I would say clairvoyance is part of how God shows us visions and yes, satan can use it to decieve us too. That's why, in the Bible, John says to test the spirits and ask them to confess if Jesus has cometh in the flesh. And if they confess and say yes, it's from God. If not, it's Satan. John even says to test the spirits by "asking" them to confess so we may know what we are hearing, seeing, etc is from God. May God bless you

Greetings,

you are using a recently twisted and perverted definition of the word 'clairvoyance' and therefore I strongly both question and warn about your use of the word and accepting any so called "god given' attributes or blessing to is.

The 'clairvoyance' you speak of is from what I understand strictly forbidden in Scripture.

The following gives a history of the use of the word, clairvoyant.

Word story
Clairvoyant literally means “clear-sighted” in French, and for nearly 200 years that is what it meant in English as well. It wasn’t until the mid-19th century that it took on the meaning of “having psychic gifts” or “seeing beyond” that it carries today.
In the 19th century, the term clairvoyant was widely used in a medical context. An especially astute doctor might be able to see a patient’s symptoms and try to make a “clairvoyant diagnosis.” While some of these doctors were legitimate and extremely skilled, the term “clairvoyant physician” was generally used to describe your typical 19th-century quack. Occasionally, these people were brought to justice. The 39th Volume of The Journal of the American Medical Association contains an article about one such court case, from 1898, in which one can find this rant: “Whether the plaintiff calls herself a medical clairvoyant, or a clairvoyant physician…matters little…it was held that she was not entitled to recover for her services, she having no license to practice medicine.”
As the meaning of clairvoyant started to shift, reference books of the time attempted to approximate the new uses of the word. The 1873 edition of The American Cyclopaedia describes a clairvoyant as someone who can see through opaque objects, therefore possessing the power to “read a book unopened, or a letter which is enclosed in a solid wood box.” Today, however, clairvoyant carries more spiritual connotations, and such skills would never be cheapened by freak-show displays like divining the text of an unopened book. Rather, the modern clairvoyant prefers only to “see” things that cannot be easily refuted by disbelieving skeptics.

Only when I go into a deep meditative state while meditating and praying to and on God and having me and God time is when I'm shown things, sometimes I'm not shown anything or told anything. It' not all the time. I don't usually like using the words that the new age use but it's easier for me to explain things. When I came to God, a miracle happened to me. I was suddenly shown things I've never seen before, understood things differently. It helped me understand the Bible so much easily. I used to not understand certain things our wonderful God has told us in His book. At first I made sure it wasn't Satan making me see, feel, and understand these things. I prayed and prayed to God to help me find the answer for about 2 months until He helped me realize it was Him. Its weird: sometimes images or scenes pop in my head whether it's something I don't understand in the bible or something just random. I don't immediatey believe what I see is from God, I test it first and think about it and pray to God.

God Bless you too

Would you believe that evil spirits would ever claim that Jesus is God, and came in the flesh, to trick us?

According to Wikipedia, clairvoyance is included in the paranormal category and thus is not accepted by the scientific community. Satan only has the ability to produce counterfeit visions (see Mt 4:8;Lk 4:5). God alone produces genuine ones. Clairvoyance is not a gift of God, it is a demonic ruse.

SLE
So Ed....Where would the gift a seer uses fit in? Is that not paranormal? A prophet? A healer? Yup. All paranormal. So then, What is the difference between a clairvoyant and a seer? Or a prophet?
1 The source. and 2 the use to which it is put.

Is it just me, or has anyone noticed an uptick in certain subjects here lately?

Wiccan "Christianty"? Are wolves and snakes (familiar animal spirits) satanic? Clairvoyance and Christianity?
Some things don't mix. God doesn't want Satanic things mixed with Godly things.

No demon would ever claim to be Jesus risen in the flesh. But they can claim to be lots of other things/people that deceive
people.

False prophets, false teachers, an angel of light. ( 2 Cor 11:14; ). It's bad enough when Satan deceives the world pretending
to be "light". How much worse is it when He is deceiving the world using darkness? Wicca, fortune telling palm reading, horoscopes,
Quija boards, familiar animal spirits.... (I wonder how many "comfort animals" are actually familiar spirits, I suspect more than people think).

The difference between "clairvoyance" and prophecy. One is from God... the other isn't.

Acts 16:16; It happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave-girl having a spirit of divination met us, who was bringing her masters much profit by fortune-telling.

Which one was this? It seems some Christians don't know the difference.

And speaking of which....Has any of you ever heard of a vision board? I just heard of one church using these....What difference between these and a Ouija board?

Would you believe that evil spirits would ever claim that Jesus is God, and came in the flesh, to trick us?

Look at Matthew 8:29 And they cried out, saying, "What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?"

Now take a look at Mark 1:34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.

I take that to mean that the demons could identify/speak His name and identify who He was.

The uniqueness of 1 John 4:2-3 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the [spirit] of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world."

Keep in mind that people are not under such constraints. Though you do have many who do deny that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. No matter the evidence presented to them. They will continue to deny it.

Always remember if the deception that is being perpetrated on humanity was obvious. It would not be so easy to fall into the traps that the Adversary sets. Charles Spurgeon had a saying about discernment. "Discernment is not simply a matter of telling the difference between what is right and wrong; rather it is the difference between right and almost right."

I hope this helps a little :)

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
