To start in the beginning would take entirely too long. I will start by saying that I was abused sexually by my father when I was younger. That sent a lot of questions through me as you can imagine. I was confused but I did not have anyone really to turn to. I was saved but I did not have an intimate relationship with Him till later in Life. That is where I will pick up the story. It was 5 and a half years ago in the Cochella Valley in California when someone told me to read a book. The book was "The Purpose Driven Life." It was at that time I dedicated myself back to God. I had run for so long that I had forgotten how loving He really is. I would like to say that it is a bed of roses and nothing bothers me any more. I can't. Ever since I made up my mind to serve God, the devil will seems to want me to come back to him. I am not for sale. I will serve God in what ever capicity He sees fit. I have a loving wife that has gone through this with me. I now know that intimate relationship with God. It has been hard, but I AM an Overcomer!

Praise Jesus! Thank you for that testimony, Fire Mountain. Stay strong in God, Brother. You know the devil goes into overdrive whenever someone accepts Christ as their Lord and Savior. It's his desire since the beginning: to destroy mankind any way he can. And homosexuality is just one of the many ways he uses to get to mankind. And may God bless your loving wife for standing by you as you work through your personal relationship with God. May God bless and keep both of you!
 
How can you be sure that your completley cured from homosexuality? You tricked your mind not your spirit. Dude your still gay...just a gay christian. Nothing wrong with that.

Praise to our Loving heavenly Father. He spared no expense to set us free because we mean that much to Him. Everyday spent in His presence makes us want to go deeper into His love and the knowledge of Him. If you find yourself tempted to backslide consider trying the following:


In sexual (and other types) of sin I find this to be enormously helpful:
Begin to become more aware of the presence of God. Understand that Jesus prayed and the Father sent the Holy Spirit to not only indwell your spirit but to walk side by side with you (Paraclete). He is always with you loving you, teaching you, drawing you. If you become truly aware of His presence then ask yourself this; Do I really want to do that in front of the Holy Spirit? Do I want to grieve Him? The answer is of course that you do not. When you get to that realization then simply cry out" Jesus give me strength to overcome". Then realize in your heart that He hears every cry, believe Him for that strength and walk away. If you do this you will not fail.
It is also important to put things into perspective. God has equipped us with a desire to procreate and in the right context it is a good thing. However instead of being a beautiful thing between a husband and his bride we often let these desires take on monumental importance and the can become the driving force of our life; that was never meant to be. Anything that starts to control our emotions and thoughts needs to be brought into submission but again only through His power.

Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

It is only when we walk in His power and at His leading that we can truly overcome. Indeed if we could have overcome by ourselves He would never have went to that cross.

The Almost-Delivered Man

The man has tried to obey the beautiful law of God. He has loved it, he has wept over his sin, he has tried to conquer, he has tried to overcome fault after fault, but every time he has ended in failure.
What did he mean by "the body of this death"? Did he mean, my body when I die? Verily no. In the eighth chapter you have the answer to this question in the words: "If ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." That is the body of death from which he is seeking deliverance.
And now he is on the brink of deliverance! In the twenty-third verse of the seventh chapter we have the words: "I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members." It is a captive that cries: "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" He is a man who feels himself bound. But look to the contrast in the second verse of the eighth chapter: "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." That is the deliverance through Jesus Christ our Lord; the liberty to the captive which the Spirit brings. Can you keep captive any longer a man made free by the "law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus"?
But you say, the regenerate man, had not he the Spirit of Jesus when he spoke in the sixth chapter? Yes, but he did not know what the Holy Spirit could do for him.
God does not work by His Spirit as He works by a blind force in nature. He leads His people on as reasonable, intelligent beings, and therefore when He wants to give us that Holy Spirit whom He has promised, He brings us first to the end of self, to the conviction that though we have been striving to obey the law, we have failed. When we have come to the end of that, then He shows us that in the Holy Spirit we have the power of obedience, the power of victory, and the power of real holiness.
God works to will, and He is ready to work to do, but, alas! many Christians misunderstand this. They think because they have the will, it is enough, and that now they are able to do. This is not so. The new will is a permanent gift, an attribute of the new nature. The power to do is not a permanent gift, but must be each moment received from the Holy Spirit. It is the man who is conscious of his own impotence as a believer who will learn that by the Holy Spirit he can live a holy life. This man is on the brink of that great deliverance; the way has been prepared for the glorious eighth chapter. I now ask this solemn question: Where are you living? Is it with you, "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me?" with now and then a little experience of the power of the Holy Spirit? or is it, "I thank God through Jesus Christ! The law of the Spirit hath set me free from the law of sin and of death"?
What the Holy Spirit does is to give the victory. "If ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the flesh, ye shall live." It is the Holy Ghost who does this - the third Person of the Godhead. He it is who, when the heart is opened wide to receive Him, comes in and reigns there, and mortifies the deeds of the body, day by day, hour by hour, and moment by moment.

I'd say 'not necessarily so'.

I don't think we can reject another person's testimony or the truth that they have found for themselves in Jesus Christ.

We need to be careful in refuting another's revelation, particularly if it lines up with scripture. Remember that who God sets free is free indeed.

I was wondering when I would encounter this again. Okay, let's look at the words you used to describe me. "gay christian" Now, I know I could say this is a contradiction in terms, however, I will not. Rather, let's look at this thing more constructive. If I call someone a "murder christian" and that person is still killing people, is that person a christian? If I call someone a "thief christian" and that person is still stealing, is that person a christian? If I call someone an "adulterous christian" and that person is still committing adultery, is that person a christian. Remember what Jesus told the woman who was caught in adultery? He told her to go and sin no more. That means go and do not commit adultery anymore. And one more thing, Satan is still very good at tricking minds. If he did have control of my mind, I don't think I could be able to say anything about Jesus. This is one of the teachings the church has lost. We are bought with a price. Great was that price. If we are going to stand with Him forever, we have to know without a shadow of a doubt, that we are born again. It is more than a feeling but it is something we should know at every moment of everyday. I am not trying to be rude, but I have dealt with this before. If you do not think it is possible for God to deliver me completely, that is ok. I know down deep in my heart and my spirit that I have been.

It's the witness, the knowing deep within your heart and spirit, that is important here - more important that what other people say or think. Just keep trusting.
 
God is a God of total deliverance. What we once were is of no import as we are now the sons of God Himself.

1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

2Co 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.



So then with Paul we say ex-murderer, ex-thief, ex-gay, ex-etc. What we were is dead and who we are - well that is a new creation in Christ.
So now the old thoughts and ways of living simply have to die that the outer man may reflect the new inner man.
We are born again to a new inheritance and a new way of life. We are renewed in our minds daily as we believe the Word of God (as breathed on by the Holy Spirit) and our body follows.
New life in the Spirit, new thoughts in our soul and the body bearing the fruits of a life in Christ.
Just drop all the ex's in the trash can my friend.

God loves gays just as He loves straights, but, He does NOT approve the gay lifestyle. A study of Genesis 19 and Romans 1 in God's Word gives more than adequate proof of that. Since the gay lifestyle cannot produce children through co-habitation of men and women as designed by God, it cannot be considered to be in accord with God's will. Therefore, those who embrace homosexuality and refuse to repent cannot enter the Kingdom of God (see 1 Cor 6:9).

I am saying these things to you not out of a desire to condemn, but in a spirit of love. I understand the social factors that drive people away from heterosexual living (I've experienced some of them in my own life). But I also understand that retreating into homosexuality isn't the best response to these issues. It may provide sexual pleasure and a sense of identity for a season, but, it does not provide a true, lasting, healthy identity or sense of purpose for the individual. The gay community can only seek sham copies of these things through worldly means such as lawsuits, Gay Pride parades, demonstrations, etc.

I pray that you rethink your views on homosexuality before it is eternally too late.

FM my friend and brother, I know a Pastor (of 3 large churches) who was completely delivered of the same problem. He is happily serving God and the daddy to a beautiful family.

I agree. Once we're born again the transformation is complete. God never does a partial work. What He begins, He completes.

While it is true we are born again to a new life and that work is complete in our inner or spirit man our mind must daily be renewed by the Word of God through revelation by the Holy Spirit of God. We are made new and now we must begin to think like God agreeing with His Word over all we see, touch, taste, feel or know.
Spiritual rebirth is followed by renewing of the mind and our body follows those new thoughts manifesting in sanctification of spirit, soul and body.:shade:

Gay Christian is an oxymoron.

A born again believer in Jesus Christ who may have suffered with homosexuality and has been delivered of such bondage will not ever refer to himself or herself as "gay" or h-o-m-o-sexual again (why that word is not allowed in this forum, I don't understand--but "gay" is?)---that is the past.

Being heterosexual is the normal default--the way God created us all. As Christians, we learn who we are in Christ and we enjoy how He created us.
