Hi Eliane, so you want to know what Proverbs 24:1, 2 is referring to:
This is the last chapter of the proverbs of Solomon which he wrote and arranged himself. After this we come to proverbs of Solomon that were arranged by the men of Hezekiah. Evidently Solomon wrote a great many proverbs, but we have only a very small percentage of the total number recorded in the Bible. Solomon wrote in Proverbs 24:1, 2: "Do not be envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them; for their minds devise violence, and their lips talk of trouble." It is interesting to note that there is a repetition throughout the book of proverbs of the same line of thought. According to the Bible commentary, the same wise counsel in repeated in Proverbs 3:31: "Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways." Then in Proverbs 23:17, 18: "Do not let your heart envy sinners, but live in the fear of the LORD always. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off." Then again in Proverbs 24:19, 20: "Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked; for there will be no future for the evil man; the lamp of the wicked will be put out."
In Proverbs 23:17 and verse 18 and 24:19 and verse 20 the reason for not envying sinners is that their future is bleak because they plan violence and talk about the trouble they will bring on others. What is in their hearts comes out in their talk. Consequently, if we are to guard our own hearts from the corrupting nature of the works of the flesh, (Galatians 5:19-21) we would be very wise to not personally associate with such ones. As 1 Corinthians 15:33, warns: "Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals." This does not mean we should be rude and shun them, because if they are to be saved, Christians would have to approach them and persuade them with the scriptures why their course of life needs to change. But it does mean we are cautious of recreational association, with such ones.

We need to have a balance. It is true that we should be mindful of the company we keep but at the same time, if we are never around "sinners" and unbelievers then how can we be a witness to them? Though we do have to be careful, because so often when we hang around bad company we think that we will have a positive influence on them when the opposite is usually true, and they end up having a negative influence on us. Jesus indeed was often found among sinners, but unlike Jesus, we are vulnerable and susceptible to temptation and failure.
Of course all were sinners and none were saved , had eternal life, no one was Born again.
Salvation Did not come to mankind until our Lord died and went to New Jerusalem and had sent back the Holy Ghost .
1Co_15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
Only though HIM was there ever salvation.
It was very lonely for our LORD with no one to truly talk with here. No one understood much?. At least we can find some to talk things over with .

We have been blessed to be called the people of God, so we can't be unequally yoke with the world. Yet without the light of the Holy Spirit in us, the world will never come to Jesus, and we must show and tell them of Jesus Christ!

Jesus wasn't changed by the sinners, sinners were changed by him. (Some of them).
The woman at the well, the woman caught in adultery, the blind man, Mary Magdalene, Zachias, Lazarus, many more... they were all sinners when Jesus met them, but not when he left them.
John 5:14; Afterward Jesus *found him in the temple and said to him, "Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you."
John 8:11; She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more."

I don't think Jesus persisted in the company of "evil men, who had no intention of changing".
Matt 10:14; "Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet.
Matt 10:15; "Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.
Everything Jesus did was according to the Father's will. The sinners Jesus chose to spend time with were those whom the Father directed him to visit.
Jn 5:30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.
John 6:44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them
The subject of this thread is desiring the company of evil men. A Christian should not desire evil company, because that is equivalent to desiring the evil itself.
As much as Christ spent time with sinners, I don't believe He desired or enjoyed their company as much as we would think. He desired and enjoyed His closest 12 chosen ones and the Father, first and foremost. In some cases it seems Jesus was trying to get away from the evil ones, retreating alone, withdrawing from crowds. Jesus only desired the company of those He chose to believe in Him and be converted. He did not seek the company of evil men in general. That is, if Jesus was on the earth today in the flesh, He would probably not go from nightclub to nightclub to spend time with sinners in general. He would probably just go into those ones where those who the Father chose were present.
