when the One who made you speaks, you will know.

i said what i said to imply he does speak. and that he has spoken to me. on more than one occasion too.

the first time all he said was why do you smoke? his voice was pure love. i couldnt see him but i knew his hands where being held out twards me. i was what many call "slain in the spirit" it was so much peace i slumped in my chair. i could move but to move was to move out of the peace. i tried and tried to quit smoking. i couldnt. when i admited that to him he delivered me. a week and a half maybe 2 weeks later i reasoned in my head its ok to smoke pot just not ciggerrets. so i did. that was the next time i heard him. he speaks to your heart. with audible words. once again i couldnt see him but he raised his finger pointing in the sky and kind waved it from one side to the other and said you see all this... i replied yes. then inside me he showed me the beauty of it. then he showed me the faith he has. the faith that he can make by speaking. then it turned to where he can unmake. he raised his finger again and said "even you" and it was in a sence my own mother wouldnt know me. thats when my eyes got bigger than they ever had on any dope and i went from speaking in tounges to yelling in tounges. i began to rock back and forth and he continued to speak to me. to my heart. i couldnt answer of my own will. but i answered with my own heart. all i could say is "i understand" each time he said/ asked me something.

the moral of this story is obey God. oh and btw it isnt a made up story its all true.

he does speak to us now. but not everyone gets to hear while on earth. God dosent fit in a box. idols are dumb/dont speak. God speaks. can and will. but maybe he wont. but when he does you better listen.

Phoenix, I was "slain in the Spirit" also - 26 yrs ago - but I didn't have the same manifestations that EddieB reports. I want to point out, though, that this phenomenon, while it is a powerful experience, does not raise a person a notch above the rest of us. As a Christ-follower, you are on the same level as I am with or without being "slain".

Sometimes the Holy Spirit introduces the Gifts of the Spirit into a believer's life with a manifestation of power known as being slain in the Spirit or resting in the Spirit. This experience is not specifically reported anywhere in Scripture, so, some people will tell you its not Biblical. All I can say is that I was blessed to receive it. Through it, God turned my life around. I suggest you study Paul's teaching on the Gifts of the Spirit in 1 Cor 12 through 14 carefully.

SpiritLedEd,

Thank you for the encouraging words. Even so, my heart longs to hear from God for so many reasons that He knows.

I also think I might just be a tad scared because I somehow don't feel "worthy" because I don't do what I know to do and I DO what I know NOT to do.

Even though I know that God doesn't make me feel guilt or condemnation, I feel guilty A WHOLE LOT, for one reason or another!!

I think God knows about me being scared and the rest.

Thanks again.

Wow what an experience. I have never heard God speak to me audibly or in spirit or anything. I've been a Christian for the majority of my life but have never had a personal experience with Jesus or God. Listening to yours and others testimonies makes me feel hopeful that I'll experience the same thing.

Awesome! I look forward to hearing from God one day.

I long for it so.

He gives us the desires of our heart(not what our heart desires)

so since you have that desire He probably put it there. and if you are like i was then you are probably beating down heavens door for just one word. keep going. keep knocking. He will open that door.

Phoenix, one of the great certainties of life is that no one can make himself/herself worthy of God's blessings. If we could, Jesus' death on the cross would be an absurd waste of Divine effort. When we're new believers, though, we read Ro 3:23-24 and Eph 2:8-10 but we only undrerstand them intellectually because pride is still battling to control us. It takes awhile for the message to make what I've heard called the 10 inch trip from the head to the heart.

Keep praying, keep believing, keep studying the New Testament, and the time will come when your pride will move over and make ample room in your heart for His Grace.

Why are you here?

Who are you NickNorman? And why are you being disrespectful to our Lord?

Chad or someone else will set you straight soon enough if you're up to no good....to just stir things up here.

Isa 52:6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

answers are found in scripture.
