Do you think that you're doing enough spreading the good news of Jesus?

I.E: If you were to die right now, when you got to heaven would Jesus say 'Well done good and faithful servant?'

I Said Yes

I said, "yes", not because I'm proud of myself, and not because I couldn't do better. But I do live daily for Jesus Christ and I do try to listen to Him and take opportunities to tell others about Him.

I don;t think we can ever do enough. If we think we are doing enough, we will become complacent. Just my thoughts.

Re: Do you think you are doing enough?

I think Jesus will say "Well done, good and faithful servant..." to those who aren't concerned with jumping through hoops to qualify for heaven; who are just concerned with doing their very best out of devotion to him.

The parable you refer to (Mt 25:14-28) is concerned with the willingness to take risks in doing what Jesus has set before us. He's not talking about a competition wherein the prizes go to those who reach or exceed some stated goal.

I agree with you billyeah. Everyday we're presented with opportunities and I bet most times we take advantage of them (I do), but are we searching out unknown chances to talk of Jesus, feed or clothe someone or visit hospitals and prisons?

I have through the Grace of God done alittle of these things, but there is still alot of me that I concentrate spending time on. Can't rest on my past laurels. Must do more and it's not to earn brownie points, it's just the right thing to do.

There's a big difference between being complacent, and finding satisfaction daily in walking and resting in Jesus. I am not complacent and resting on my laurels. The mistakes I make and the pain God has gone through with me....He uses those things now in my life to bring Himself glory. If you notice...I said in earlier post "I know I could do better," and
I'm not proud of myself." I am proud of Jesus and what He has done. Thank you.

I think everyone just gets that urge to do more and more and more. It's natural from the point you become a christian. But I thought in most respects all of us will have in some way furfilled our call by the time we get there, just as long as we never stop.

Matthew 25:23
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

Dreamer, I in no way wanted to imply that you were becoming complacent. I think, though if you look around the contemporary church in america and canada, you will find a lot of people who are happy giving the bare minimum for God, saying in there hearts, "yeah I do enough for God." And I believe in Revelations it is made very clear what will happen to those who are lukewarm Christians. So it becomes my mission to do as much as I can do for God, and hope to make others aware that we can never do enough! We should always strive to do more. Not to earn our salvation, but out of gratitude for the unspeakable gift we have received!

the poll asks, "do you think you are doing enough?" It doesn't ask if you think the church or the whole country is doing enough. Right at the present, I am at a good place in my relationship with Christ. I have had many rocky roads. If I answer this poll same time next year, who knows if I'd say yes or no.

Believe me, I'm no Apostle Paul, but I'm aspiring in my daily life to become more like Christ. And I'm far from being there. I'd like to quote this beautiful scripture of Paul. He knew his time here on earth was short, and pardon me for saying so, but he knew he'd done "enough": 2 Tim 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Amen to that.

I'll praise my Maker while I have breath, and when my soul is lost in death, praise shall employ my nobler powers.

My days of praise shall nere be past, while life and soul and being last, or immortality endures.

when is enough enough in Jesus' eyes? He has done more for us than we can ever do for Him so I don't think any of us can possibly do enough. This doesn't mean that we aren't making him happy; I just think in comparison with Jesus, none of us match up to His deed

plus, if we thought we were doing enough, that means we wouldn't try to be better and being stagnant is not from God

Voices from the past...

When I was growing up, my family was the type who shut the door on people who would come to witness, phrases like "pushing their beliefs down peoples throats" were said. So I guess Im not as bold as I should be. I have no problem talking my faith with those who know me, but I feel that I may turn people away from faith rather than towards it if I dont "Do it right" Does that make sense to anyone?

I know what your saying. There is always that fear when witnessing that you will drive the person away, and that is always possible. But I think if witnessing is done in love, and the person is driven away, it's not your fault. They weren't going to listen anyway.

Another thing to consider is this. They are unsaved and going to hell. If you witness to them and they get mad and say "stop shoving your beliefs at people!" They are still going to hell. Nothing has changed. You have not done anything to send them deeper into hell. But what you have done is added a jewel to your crown in heaven for standing up for Jesus. You plant the seed and allow God to work. Maybe your conversation will be the catalist in them coming to Christ years later. You never know what a little seed may do.

One thing that is important, is don't sugarcoat the gospel so that they won't be offended. Jesus said we will offend people, it's the nature of the gospel. It is light and they are dark, they don't want the light lest their darkness will truely be revealed. I am not saying deliberately offend people, but don't hold back from using words like, hell, repentance, and judgement day. They need to know why they need a savior before they will repent.

Don't let your fear of man hold you back. Fear God. This is a message I need as much as anyone.

God Bless

Bill

Suzi: There are two excellent books on the subject of effective evangelism that come to my mind:

#1) "Servant Evangelism" by Steve Sjogren

#2) "Just Walk Across the Room" by Bill Hybels

Steve Sjogren is Pastor Emeritus of the Vineyard Community Church in Cincinnati, Ohio USA

Bill Hybels is Senior Pastor of Willow creek Church in Chicago, Ill. USA.

Door-to-door evangelism is seldom productive. I don't know if Steve Sjogren's book is still in print, but Bill Hybels' book was published, I believe, in 2006.

I said no but we must realize that Christ wants a love relationship with us and not a leagelistic one.
We should ask ourselves what's our motive for doing certain things?
I f it's just to be seen or for our own ego than it's only wood hay and stubble.

1st question, No i dont think I am doing much witnessing at this time.
I have been serving in other ways. My aim is to keep running the race as Paul says we should.

2nd. Thanks to our Lord that we are saved by what he has done for us and not by our works. I think we may get a suprise to find that he has used our lives in ways that we are not even aware of, ie. kind actions to others that reflect him.

My friend Chris stayed with me last week. He witnesses to strangers at the food places we eat. He witnesses whenever he can.

I have another friend Cameron. I haven't heard him out witnessing like my friend Chris. However, the way he lives his life, his love and care for others is an amazing witness. Cameron's witness is his life. He radiates Jesus.

Both these guys are amazing in there witness to Jesus. Both do it in very different ways.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wording of the poll is misleading. It implies that our works have power to bring God's favor, that there is a baseline performance level we must strive for to gain the Father's love, which is contrary to the truth of Scripture.

Consider the Prodigal Son of Luke 15. He had "blown it" literally and spent years in sinful living, yet his father not only allowed him to return, he welcomed him back with a major celebration."For it is by grace you are saved through faith. - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God so no man can boast." (Eph 2:8-9)
