Does Satan Know Your Thoughts?

I don't think satan can read our mind, but when we speak he can certainly hear. So bide your tongue. This is why the Bible is so clear on minding our tongue.

I absolutely agree.

Satan has been around for much longer than any of us and he knows the human nature, and we aren't all that different, one from the other. What is a temptation to one is a temptatioin to most. For instance when he tempted Jesus in the desert he used what's common temptation to most men. Power, wealth, glory. It doesn't have to mean that he could read Jesus' mind.

I am certain that God would never allow Satan to actually posses one of his sheep, however for his own glory God allows at certain times for us to be tempted or influenced by Satan and his demons. But this is more by suggestion than posession.

I believe that Satan had to have God's permission to tempt/test Eve just as he needed permission to test Job. In both cases, he was trying to defeat God, but in no way was the outcome certain for him.

I totally relate and pray for u as I do myself. Its strange but this is exactly the topic I was investigating today for myself. I believe that satan can read our thoughts and read our minds, perhaps not our hearts but his influence is powerful and unless we have the promise of the cross we all would be lost. Scripturally based there is none that says that he cant read our thoughts, but some that imply that he cant and can only harm us in the physical since. I am only recently finding releave from a very long battle with demonic attacks both in life and in my dreams. I now rejoice when this happens because Satan finds me so important to try and lead me astray. All I can say is stick close to the LORD and pray and read scripture outload in the name of Jesus with power and the darkness will flee from you. May our Lord and savior be with you during times of distress

:rose: Could God allow Satan to be in us. I think he was in Job and Simon Peter, wasn't he? I know that he is not omnipotent, but God could allow him to know our thoughts, for God's purpose, couldn't He. Just like with Job. Is there any scripture that says that satan could never know our thoughts. I have had some pretty demonic thoughts sometimes and I just don't believe that they come from me. Does anyone have any info on this? Can people become posessed by satan, if God so chooses? Thanks:Pixie:rose:

I believe that satan cannot know our thoughts, because God created him, and he certainly doesn't have that power to read our thoughts. But he can certainly influence our thoughts, like how he influenced Eve.

In the words of Martin Luther, he said, "You cannot stop a bird from flying over your head, you can certainly prevent it from making poo on your head.".

You cannot stop thoughts coming to your mind, but you can certainly do something about the thoughts that come to your mind.

Is not our hearts the Biblically defined place where our decisions are made? (Mt 5:8, 6:21; Lk 2:19, 51; 1 Kg 8:48).

Satan cannot gain entrance into the life of any man or woman unless such entrance is permitted.

You may feel you have some bad thoughts.....they are only thoughts. As you dismiss such thoughts in the Name of Jesus.....they will have to go.

Satan has no power. When faced with a person trusting in Jesus for their Salvation, Satan carries no threat, none whatsoever.

Very simple. Was not Jesus tempted by Satan?
You can be too.
It is your own choice if you follow his temptation or dismiss it. If you question something you think or feel might not be right, go ask God.

Simple as that.

Satan can"t read your thoughts!
Satan can only put thoughts in.
You can act on those thought!

Satan reads your outward life like a newspaper, he knows your weaknesses based off of your actions, habits and falls.
Only through being born again does one have victory over him!

Why? Because he has been defeated!
Jesus arose to give you this victory!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever been in a situation where you rebuked satan, satanic presence, demonic presence, whatever the "socially politically correct Christian" reference would be - in only your thoughts? A situation where you have been not spiritually bound, but physically bound, unable to speak, unable to open your mouth and need to rebuke satan?

They will flee without a word spoken when in your mind it is rebuked in Jesus name.

Until you have been at that point, I am sure that you will not think that satan can hear/know your thoughts.

I am assuming you are not saying these thoughts out loud, "Such as "Thought of murdering this jerk, I dismiss you in Jesus name" or "Thought of perversion regarding such and such I dismiss you in Jesus name"

One can argue that Jesus in His glorious power comes to do it for us, but that is not what scripture says, He gave us the authority for a reason, we have a helmet of salvation for a reason, we have a breastplate of righteousness for a reason, we are in a war against spiritual things, while in the flesh, which is the battle ground. The flesh makes us weak, while the spirit is willing to war.

Are we absolutely sure we know every gift, power and blessing God had bestowed on Satan before He was cast out of heaven? I don't think we do. For satan to have believed he could take the place of God, or sit equal with God, he must have been highly blessed. God says He is the only God in existence, and there would never be another beside Him. That should make us realize if we war against satan, there is a reason. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy because he can if we don't understand just how powerful the name of Jesus is, and what it represents. And if one argues that Jesus crushed satan and destroyed his power and he has nothing to destroy us with, then why are we here? Why are we battling? Why did He just not set up His Kingdom at that point? Because many are called, few are chosen, until that last soul wins that spiritual battle, we wait, even though in Gods time it is finished.

They hear.

Veracity; One time when I was working a night shift, I was at home sleeping in the early afternoon. My daughter was in the hospital getting a tooth done (I don't remember why it had to be done in a hospital) Anyway I was sound asleep and I dreamed that Death was after my daughter. Well I got mad! I commanded death to leave my daughter alone and go back where it came from. I commanded it to go back to its boss. and stay there. I had to do that twice before it left. I continued to sleep peacefully until it was time for me to get up. At no time during this event did I wake up. When I told my Lady about it she said she was working in her garden at that time. She felt the same thing and did the same..

It turned out that the anesthesiologist did something squirelly and blew out one of my daughters lungs. She nearly died a couple times on the table. It was our Holy Spirit working in us to protect our daughter.

As I stated.......... There is not scripture that says, "Satan knows what your thinking (or devil)"...............

The UFO phenomenon where people are captured, put in a dirty ship or before capture all describe being paralyzed and unable to speak. The inside of the ship is not high tech, and all sense evil and filth.

I am convinced this is another manifestation of the Kingdom of hell as many believe........ What connection this has for the future if any, we can only guess....

Satan is the God of the flesh, having the ability to operate in that realm would not stretch the imagination. Hence he does know what we are thinking and is planting thoughts at the same time to see how we will respond and think on ourselves........... As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.. and Satan knows that.

Even dreams (how else could a spirit manipulate your dreams and we all have had them.), and manifestation where you have something standing at the foot of your bed, being paralyzed is common. I have had more than one encounter with devils.......

All evidence to me points to evil spirits being able to know what your thinking.. Fortune tellers and mediums operate like this, fooling people into thinking there is real power backing them.... Not hardly.

There is a reason we are told several times to renew our mind, cast down thoughts,imaginations....... fill ourselves and en graft the word in us which is able to save our soul (thinking, mind) and think on these things filled with virtue and good report........

If you want to get technical........... then fine...... no place in scriptures says devils can read your thoughts... but don't bet on it...

Jesus Is Lord.

A very wise preacher told me something one time that I took to heart. I seldom agree with any modern preacher but I took this lesson to heart.

He said Kit , if you are saved and honestly believe so and start each day or at some point in each day you just say Hi to God, and think of him it is like a circle.

You are in that circle, God is in the circle and the world and the bad things are just outside of it. As long as you speak to God each day and strive to do right you are held safe in the circle.

That was a wise man. So I do not fear these things, and for sure I will not challenge Satan, and I realize some thoughts are my own making and I simply need to behave. But I am in that circle and have nothing to fear.

Satan took his best shot at Jesus in the desert (Mt 4:1-11; Mk 1:9-11; Lk 4:1-13) and lost. Even though the Lord was seriously weakened physically, having gone without food and water many days, He defeated the devil by firing Scripture bullets at him. Scripture knowledge and faith in its power will expose Satan's bluff and send him fleeing every time.
