catechumen (n.) "A new convert (to Christianity)," late 14c., From Church Latin catechumenus, from Greek katēkhoumenos "one being instructed," passive present participle of katēkhein "to teach orally".
^That's me now, a Christian learning more about Christ our God through the old Church, commonly known as the Roman Catholic Church because the historical location reference is clear: Universal, According to the Whole. And Saint Peter was in Rome, at the time.
This post is in response to someone I have set to "Ignore" here, who ranted against Christians (the Roman Catholic or Red Team kind. Greek Orthodox is Blue Team. Every other Christian is the Purple Pill haha.). Anyway, @MedicBravo disrupted another post because I opined there. So, I clicked to see what he was fussing about this time. This is for anyone who wants to opine about the decision I have prayed against my whole life. I typed what I typed.
I will repost the medic's zingers, with my newbie GUESSES on his unbelief next to each in red.
@MedicBravo said to me, concerning obedience to God:
"That includes:
1) Not praying or using the Rosary. [So, no revelation or help]
2) Not teaching or talking about this "Purgatory". [no hope for redemption]
3) NOT invoking or pray to saints/dead people. [don't say "i miss you"]
4) Indulgences. [no self-discipline nor accountability, just force]
5) The absurd idea that the Pope has "universal doctrinal authority". [no revelation, literacy, nor leadership]
6) Do NOT confess sins to a priest. [never confess nor apologize]
7) Do NOT calling such flawed, sinners a "Father". [nor Adam or any manly leadership]
8) Do not use or call someone an elevated religious title: Rabbi or in modern words "prosperity Pastors/Preachers (Joel Osteen) [no prophets or teachers to learn from]
9) Would NOT teach "Mary being conceived without original sin." [making babies is wrong, especially making the mother of God]
10) The moronic idea there was a FIRST (immaculate conception before Jesus). [no Adam or Eve nor Genesis 1]
11) NOT believing or saying Mary was bodiltyassumed into Heaven (Didn't experience a mortal deat). [no miracles, especially for the mother of Christ]
12) Do not believe Mary was elevated and given the title "Queen of Heaven." [ignore context and respect]
13) Jesus is king and needs nor wants no "wife" or secretary. [Jesus is exempt from God's laws for clergy, so he did not marry Mary of Magdala, but His bride is the Church as a whole, which would be polygamy]
14) Would NOT venerate relics and saints. [ignore sacred items and Biblical honorifics.]
15) Would not use or teach "statues and images as devotional objects". [ignore sacred items and discipline, nor picture them in your mind]
16) Jesus called out pagans and Pharisee. [John 8:44]
17) "Be like Jesus" falls under that. [Ephesians 4:25-31]
So, that happened.
Tomorrow, I will go to Church and learn about "The Saints".
You know, those people who risked their lives so we can at least read what we have of The Word of God.
