Galatians 4 - The Transition from being under the Law to becoming children of God

We're not Jews by genetics or faith.

(1-3) An illustration and application comparing a child and slave.​

i. In both Jewish and Greek cultures, there were definite “coming of age” ceremonies where a boy stopped being a child and started being a man, with legal rights as an heir.

ii. In the Roman custom, there was no specific age when the son became a man. It happened when the father thought the boy was ready. When Paul used the phrase until the time appointed by the father, he shows that he had the Roman “coming of age” custom more in mind than the Jewish custom.

I'm of European descent; Japheth(White ethnicity). While I can't trace my family back that far I do know I've NO Jewish genetics, thank God.

(4-5) The liberation of heirs from their bondage.
huiotes - Greek=son by birth.
huiothesia - Greek=son by adoption or "sonship conferred". God IS our Father.​

Abba - familiarity words of Father = papa, daddy. Used by children not adults. Only used by Jesus and Paul.

(8-11) A decision to make: A choice between living under the elements of the world or as a son of God.​

I've heard and read some people say we are NOT adopted as God's child. One is NOT by default. Created by the Almight Himself, yes but by definition not a Child of God until he/she makes that life change.
