SignUp Now!The Godhead has basically the same meaning as the trinity. I like using Godhead more since it's in the bible and trinity is not.Could someone please explain the difference in the Godhead and the Trinity? Thank you!
Hi Demily,Could someone please explain the difference in the Godhead and the Trinity? Thank you!
@Butch5 -- why would you use 'Goodhead' or 'Godhood' Rather than 'Godhead'. Comparing that to 'motherhood'?!?! 'fatherhood' almost since God the Father is the 1st part Of the Godhead.
The Godhead and the triune nature of God as Father, Son, Holy Spirit are the same.
2Co 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
1Pe 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Jud 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Jud 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Mat 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Godhead
θεότης
theótēs; gen. theótētos, fem. noun from Theós (G2316), God. Deity, Godhead as directly revealed, God's personality (Col_2:9), as distinguished from theiótēs (G2305) in Rom_1:20, divinity or divine power and majesty, a concept arrived at by observing God's mighty works.
It would be "incorrect" to say God is the Father, but it would "correct" to say the Father is God. It would be "incorrect" to say God is Jesus, but it would be "correct" to say Jesus is God. It would be "incorrect" to say God is the Holy Spirit, but it would be "correct" to say the Holy Spirit is God.
Sue, if you think about it if we say "God is the Father" that would be saying the Father alone is God which is incorrect because we would be leaving out the Son and the Holy Spirit. If we say "God is Jesus" that also would not be correct because we would be saying that Jesus alone is God which is not correct either because we would be leaving out the Father and the Holy Spirit. The same goes for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God, but God is not the Holy Spirit. If I'm understanding your last paragraph correctly -- somehow it sounds backwards. After all -- God Is our heavenly Father. And God is the head of Christ -- Christ being the 2nd person of the Godhead -- and the Holy Spirit is the 3rd part Of the Godhead. Just like your Matt. 28:19 passage indicates.
In the thought of the early Church the Lord was the Spirit: the glorified Lord, the Christ, who had "all power in heaven and earth," was manifested, was veritably present, in all the work of the Spirit of God in his Church. The Spirit was not only the Unity of the Father and the Son, the one Self-consciousness of both, but the one Consciousness of the Son of God and Son of man, the uniting Energy which represents the one Personality of the Christ, the Spirit-power which blends all the members of the mystical body with the Head. Throughout the Acts of the Apostles we see that all the great operations of the Holy Spirit are but the energies of the living, reigning Lord.

God's Word doesn't Have to 'make sense' to us To Be God's Word. The miraculous is just that the 'miraculous' -- out of our realm of understanding at times.
And that which Does make sense To us, isn't necessarily Scriptural.
The trinity is most definitely NOT pagan. It doesn't need to be taught in churches in order To be Scriptural.
The only 'pagan' deity is the satanic one. Which is NOT what we are talking about.
Moses was leading the Children of Israel out of Egypt. He Did give them / Us the Ten Commandments in Ex. 20 "And God spoke all thee words saying: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
God Was telling the people to worship only Him and not worship graven images / idols or any of the man-made 'gods' around them.
Apparently You believe that Moses Should have taught them that God was trinity. He was leading the people as God was directing him to Out of the bondage of Egypt.
In the Old Testament the Spirit of God / Holy Spirit came upon people at various times and then left. A different way of doing things back then and Now.
God always Has been part of the trinity.
