Godhead VS. Trinity?

The Godhead has basically the same meaning as the trinity. I like using Godhead more since it's in the bible and trinity is not.

Hi Demily,
The word Godhead is just an old English word that means Godhood. It's kind of like fatherhood or motherhood.

The Godhead and the triune nature of God as Father, Son, Holy Spirit are the same.

The Greek for "Godhead" simply means the Divinity or Deity...it implies nothing more...
If I'm understanding your last paragraph correctly -- somehow it sounds backwards. After all -- God Is our heavenly Father. And God is the head of Christ -- Christ being the 2nd person of the Godhead -- and the Holy Spirit is the 3rd part Of the Godhead. Just like your Matt. 28:19 passage indicates.

Sue, if you think about it if we say "God is the Father" that would be saying the Father alone is God which is incorrect because we would be leaving out the Son and the Holy Spirit. If we say "God is Jesus" that also would not be correct because we would be saying that Jesus alone is God which is not correct either because we would be leaving out the Father and the Holy Spirit. The same goes for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God, but God is not the Holy Spirit.
I know it sounds like a kind of a mind-bender, and it is, but think about it is true.
And That is why we include all three when speaking of the Godhead -- God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son and the Holy Spirit.
We are , in effect, designating their individuality within the Godhead.
And when we are talking about God -- it is as 'the Father'.
The Godhead == three parts of with their individual identities -- 1st part being God the Father-- the 2nd part being Jesus Christ His Son -- 3rd part being the Holy Spirit.
They have all had their roles throughout Scripture.
I have yet to understand Why some people will refer to the Spirit of God but refuse to acknowledge the Holy Spirit.

It's because people misunderstand the word God. It's a title, not a name. It's like president. The president of the USA and of anothe country are both presidents but they're not the same person. The word theos means deity. It's used of the pagan gods too. It's simply a title. The Father is Deity and Jesus is Deity. They are not the same person or being. When Paul says, "to us there is one God, the Father", he speaks of authority. The Father is the ultimate authority. He is the God of Jesus. Jesus is Deity but not at the level of the Father.
small 'g' god is speaking of the many 'god's mentioned in the Old Testament.

Again let me share what I’ve posted on my own thread. It makes absolutely no sense to say the Holy Spirit is an actual person. We are also spirit, soul and body but we are not three coequal separate individuals uniting in one, are we? Our spirit is simply our consciousness. When talking about the Spirit of God and Spirit of Christ, the pulpit commentary thus writes:

The trinity is a pagan doctrine. It was never taught in churches until at least two centuries later after the Churches were in existence.
God's Word doesn't Have to 'make sense' to us To Be God's Word. The miraculous is just that the 'miraculous' -- out of our realm of understanding at times.
And that which Does make sense To us, isn't necessarily Scriptural.

Moses never taught that God is a trinity to the children of Israel, so why is God a trinity now?
Moses was leading the Children of Israel out of Egypt. He Did give them / Us the Ten Commandments in Ex. 20 "And God spoke all thee words saying: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Since Moses never taught that God is a trinity, it is futile to convince me otherwise. I adhere only to Scriptures.
The only reason I mentioned Moses is because he was the first prophet who spoke to God face to face. Even so, he never once taught any concept of trinity to God’s people. The role of a prophet is to lead people back to the one true God, to teach the truth about who He is. The fact that Moses never portrayed God as a trinity is very telling that the trinity concept never originated from God. Anyone who fails to see this is in denial.
