Hi everyone and greetings from a Brit.

Like my namesake Francis Drake, I enjoy exploration and adventure, although these days it is far more in the realm of the Spirit than terra firma. I hope that my exploration over the big pond will be a worthwhile journey and produce as much fruit as Drake's did.

Drake is recognised for his courage against the Spanish Armada, but few know that he was a man of deep faith. This is demonstrated in the following written prayer of his.-
"Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love." (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

This is as true for us today as it was when it was written.

Welcome to the forum. That is a good prayer!

Welcome to TJ brother, I look forward to breaking spiritual bread with you.

Boanerges, Son of Thunder? Should I be worried?

I hope that there is also a still small voice behind that invitation? I shall look forward to breaking bread with you.

Francis Drake still enjoys sailing across uncharted waters to sink enemy ships, and also appreciates the company of fellow travelers, even at the risk of their thunder ripping his sails.
