Hello

I think god gets fixated on human behavior and never looks at the genes he gave us or the reality he shaped for us. I truly believe that everyone is assigned a life plan, it includes your genes, your challenges, acquaintances, so forth and so on. He will blame you for your behavior (sins), but if there is something about your genes or the challenges he set forth for you in life, he takes no blame.
Oh boy, where to start with that ...

Did God create us?

May Jesus fill us with his love and wisdom.

I remember years ago asking a young lady if she knew what loves was. As she was very critical of people who loved each other.

I have to believe that anyone who has not experienced love in their life, it would be extremely difficult for those people to actually understand what it is

If you are implying that I'm incapable of love, you are wrong. I'm here because I think your god is a thug and I'm hoping to learn something insightful but I never read anything new.

I think what you are referring to is love for god? I think that is a gift. I don't think that you understand the side of god that I see. It's always the same thing in these forums, god is all love, he would never cause you pain or mess with you, Satan is to blame, I can recite scripture, life is just a proven ground. That is a crock of s**t, your god pulls all the strings, shapes your reality and creates your genes.

You’ve had your Catholic training, but do you think you’re here on Talk Jesus because, in your view, God is pulling the strings like a puppeteer, and you’re the puppet? I hope you think about that and what it means to you personally, if that is how you are leaning.

If you are busy on cause and effect, how does free will come into it, unless you believe God is this cosmic chess player to all that happens. Quoting scripture to affirm this position can be done, but so can scripture be shown that it is not as you have shown as well. :) If God does pull all the strings, I'm curious why give the Holy Spirit to guide one, when it is within His purview to have His will done without us even realizing it? See how one can come up with question after question and still have no satisfactory answer to what is happening in your life. You could just as easily be doing actions, that are self-fulfilling which make it appear that external forces are at work...

Still, I guess since I'm up there in age and when I was younger, I was just too busy living life, so that now I do not give it a thought on the control factors of my life outside of trying to be pleasing to God. Still, am I as successful in this endeavor as I'd like to be? That would be a resounding no! Do, I blame God for that. That would be hubris on my part indeed!

I'm curious, how is your success rate, or are you like I am at times, yanking at the bit in my mouth, by seeking to do my own thing, which usually moves me in the opposite direction of what God desires for me, which is what is best for His children? I have a few knots in the back of my head to show my own stubbornness lol

Eventually, you come to realize that arguing with God, about this or that, and going your own way doesn't work out for your betterment at all. He's allowed me to see that very thing, and yet when it hits the fan, He's still there, and doesn't even say, I told you so! I'm usually telling it to myself of course! lol But am I glad He didn't leave me without a Comforter!

All of this (our discussion) is a curiosity to me, because once I acknowledged not being my own creator...well, knowing that above all else, has filled me with wonder, and at times fear as well throughout the years. As I near the end of this life (or new beginning if you will) I am filled more with wonder then anything else.

How do you do, sir in this endeavor of yours, in battling with God, your Creator? When you are so concerned with what percentage of your life is being controlled/influenced by God, and other powers/principalities which intrude upon you almost continually? Or do you not believe in free will, and see yourself as but a temporal shell to be moved around like a chess piece? One can always come up with questions, as you can see in my response to you, but many of them, in truth, should be irrelevant to the life you are leading with Jesus or without Him for that matter. For it is all tied to what you believe to be the beacon in your life.

Know one thing and that is scripture is nice to quote, but can one truly understand them without the help of the Holy Spirit? I truly believe you'll not have understanding without Him guiding you by knowing right from almost right. Even Satan quoted scripture, and it made him no more right when he did so then most people who seek understanding without Jesus in their lives.

Now to ramble a bit more...gosh, the influences in one's life can be many, but that doesn't necessarily speak to not being in control of the actions we take because of them. Like we would never...Accepting responsibility is probably one of the toughest hurdles to have to overcome. It's easier to blame God, then allow our pride to be hurt thinking just maybe, it's our fault. We as men are not good with eating humble pie. Even when we do, we don't really like it!

Anyway, I could go on and on in this vein, but I figure you've got my drift from what you've provided me in your response. Just look at each one contextually. And I want to believe instead of Proverbs 15:221, you meant 15:22 instead. If you'd like I can edit it for you, so that you'd be accurate in the quoting of them.

God bless you and yours.

P.S. I hope I made a little sense...before dragging these tired bones to bed! Don't let life pass you by! :)

There is no self-fulling prophecy, there obviously was some "awaking". You know it happens.

"If you are busy on cause and effect, how does free will come into it, unless you believe God is this cosmic chess player to all that happens."

Something like that

"I'm curious why give the Holy Spirit to guide one"

I put a lot of thought into that. I think whatever it is, in its deeply nuanced, synchronistic way, it's trying to tell me that I deviated way off the set course. I did make a lot of changes to improve my situation in life. I did feel like a human ash tray and was not satisfied with that course and I think god took exception to that "Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 16:9". I also think whatever it is saying, its saying that god did not rent a whole lot of space in my mind for him. I think acquainting me with the holy spirit or whatever it is, was the result of his calculus in the way he chose of dealing with me.

"I'm curious, how is your success rate, or are you like I am at times, yanking at the bit in my mouth, by seeking to do my own thing, which usually moves me in the opposite direction of what God desires for me, which is what is best for His children? I know that I can move from point A to point B without sinning, so I know that im not helpless.

"Know one thing and that is scripture is nice to quote"

Are you saying quoting scripture is only suppose to work for someone who is of deep faith, but not for a heathen like me? That reasoning is probably why so many people don't even bother with religion. One probably feels like it is an insult to god to even try.

If it's something like that then why any concern at all because if He is this Cosmic Chess Master, what then any hope of even understanding what happens actually matters to you and not just a bit part you must play out that is happening to you, and not really your own independence that allows you to move from for instance from A - B without sinning? (Run on sentence sorry, which I'm good for doing now and again.) Is it possible that a thread to a relationship with God, was broken in times past, that has affected humanity and that since then, that God is trying to repair, and have it whole once again? Yet, to be consistent to free will, does so only with those who want it as He does? Time for Scripture? :)

The deeper meaning of it can only be understood by them who are seeking Him with all their hearts, by the Holy Spirit that is drawing them to His knowledge, by already being close to them though they are unaware of it happening or seen as a tickle of the mind desiring to know more (flawed connection), or as a part of them through the indwelling of Him in them (connection being fixed), through Jesus the Christ in belief/faith. By which we have traversed a gap of corruption/sin if you will, that can be imparted no other way if we are to be made whole/connected as was meant to be? (both possibilities exist within each of us)

As you draw closer to Him, you become more aware of your own sin, deficiencies/failing to accomplish this on your own, which is this corruption/self that doesn't want to die, because we now know without Him through Jesus as the beacon of light that shows us how through Obedience, faithfulness and not our own way or separate of Him can we be made whole one day. Corruption makes it seem to many the opposite/otherwise. So, many speak of a relationship with Him, which is a personal interaction between Creator and Creation. I'm not a real worker with my hands, but can one who makes something with care and love, not have an affinity with it? Now multiple that with God, and us...and all I can say is "WOW". You can put scripture here as well. \o/

Free will can be a blessing to those who believe, and a curse to those who choose not to (scripture here too). Not because God makes it so, but because He has made it a possibility within His creation that it be so. Creator - Creation that had a circuit broken (wanted to put there the symbol of a broken circuit), then has it fixed...or not...free will. By Him, for Him....(scripture here too). :)

So, in this deeply "nuanced, synchronistic" way you have been given an awareness and the ability to decide. (Why? Good question) For some, that decision requires a humility, a strength they may not even realize they possess. And because English has no adequate terms for the depth of the connection that can be between us and Him, we fall back on a word that is itself inadequate: Love.

Knowing that God is out of time, that regardless of what you choose He will make it work, or in other words, "His will be done". Why? Because He can! lol (joy)

Oh, the prideful would chomp at the bit, but there you have it "Creator - Creation". I'd rather ask my questions at His feet, then gnashing my teeth outside.... then again, I'm but a simple man.

Off and running Planet! :)

P.S. I hope this isn't too convoluted, but I do believe each of our relationship with God, can be that way...for now anyway. :) Keep the faith! \o/
