How do I become truly “Born again"?

Well, basically we are born again into the family of God through
• Repentance from sin and self-will
• Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ
• The Baptism of, or infilling by the Holy Ghost

Every human being has their first birth by uniting the seed of man and of woman. Unless science interupts the process, a child is brought into this world from that conception, via the mother's womb where it matures to readiness for viable life.

Jesus foretold the plan of salvation for this age in talking to Nicodemus. In John 3, read: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
- John 3:2-5

To be born, is to appear in this world with a particular nature. You and I were born human beings, not dogs, or monkeys. As such we will live in this world subject to the limitations and inclinations of human beings. But we have a desire for more, and to escape the bondage of sin, and to receive a more permanent condition of being. Human beings are by nature, inheritors of the kingdom of this earth. Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven was being made ready for the welcome of human beings. By a wonderful rebirth, you can receive the properties and nature which enable you to enter into and live in the Kingdom of God.

Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven . - vs 9-13

In this citation, we see that Nicodemus, a highly educated religious man was a little confused by the promise. Of course he was! Jesus came to lead us to receive His promise, and none of us were able to fully understand something which, by nature, we could not know!

What is the new birth?
in Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus, He gave it two divisions: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. - vs 5-6 These are:

water
like the womb of the mother, where the identity of the child is contained

spirit
or the nature of the parents, conveyed to the child, giving it life

Jesus very adamantly taught that only the Spirit of God could convey the divine nature to men and women and make them able to enter the Kingdom of God!
No, Nicodemus did not understand this, and neither does it come naturally to us if we have not received it yet. But when the truth of the gospel was revealed, when the Apostles began to preach the message which they were ordained by Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) to preach, we find that the message of the new birth they taught was
• Baptism in water in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sins
• Baptism in the Holy Ghost for conveyance of new life. Also referred to a " the promise of the Father" - Acts 24:49

We are born again into the family of God through
• Repentance from sin and self-will
• Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ
• The Baptism of, or infilling by the Holy Ghost

This experience constitutes a rebirth into the Kingdom of God, or in another way of speaking, into the Church. This "gateway" into the "promised land" of salvation, and the covenant of truly knowing the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Peter, Paul and all saints as one's father, was revealed by the preaching of Peter (and the eleven other disciples, on the day of Pentecost, 7 weeks after Jesus was crucified for our sins, and resurrected to walk with and teach the disciples, and then to ascend from our sight into heaven. This wonderful message was preached from the very first Christian gathering ever, as God have instruction and power that the WHOLE WORLD ought to be invited into His PROMISED REST of salvation!

"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." - Acts 2:36-39

As God sent his Son into this world to pay the terrible cost of sin, and to reveal the name of God, and a gospel of reconciliation to us, everyone today stands posed to receive or reject the means to accept God's offer to become His child through the new birth.

How do I repent….What do I say?

“Jesus!, I have sinned against You by breaking Your Commandments. Despite the conscience You gave me, I have looked with lust and therefore committed adultery in my heart. I have lied, stolen, failed to love You, failed to love my neighbor as myself, and failed to keep the Sabbath holy. I have been covetous, harbored hatred in my heart and therefore been guilty of murder in Your sight. I have used Your holy name in vain, have made a god to suit myself, and because of the nature of my sin, I have dishonored my parents. If I stood before You in Your burning holiness on Judgment Day, if every secret sin I have committed and every idle word I have spoken came out as evidence of my crimes against You, I would be utterly guilty, and justly deserve hell. I am unspeakably thankful that Jesus took my place by suffering and dying on the cross. He was bruised for my iniquities. He paid my fine so that I could leave the courtroom. He revealed how much You love me. I believe that He then rose from the dead (according to the Scriptures). I now confess and forsake my sin and yield myself to Him to be my Lord and Savior. I will no longer live for myself. I present my body, soul, and spirit to You as a living sacrifice, to serve You in the furtherance of Your Kingdom. I will read Your Word daily and obey what I read. It is solely because of Calvary’s cross that I will live forever. I am eternally Yours. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

How to be Baptized?

The Book of Acts establishes that the apostles and the
early church consistently baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ. This pattern is the norm for the church today.
It is our responsibility to obey the commands and
examples of the Bible regardless if whether we understand
the reasons for this practice or the importance of it.

Obedience is the only course open to us. [We may
question what authority deserves obedience, but ought to
recommend scripture, or the apostle's record where there
seems to be conflict with other powers (Romans 16:17, 2
Corinthians 2:17-3:1). The Lord Jesus ought to be made
Lord of our lives in our thoughts, values, beliefs and
practices.]

Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ is not an arbitrary
practice, however. Using the name of Jesus in baptism is
inextricably linked with the very purpose of baptism
itself. All the reasons for being baptized in water are
also reasons for invoking the name of Jesus at baptism.
If someone wishes to be baptized but refuses the
invocation of the name of Jesus, he has not fully grasped
the reasons why he should be baptized.

1. As a minimum, all groups in Christendom agree that
the purpose of water baptism is to express faith in Jesus
as Lord and Savior. When the listeners on the day of
Pentecost accepted Jesus as Lord and Messiah, they were
baptized (Acts 2:36-38, 41).

When the Samaritans "believed Philip preaching ... concerning the kingdom of
God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized"
(Acts 8:12).

When the disciples of John at Ephesus heard
that Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecy of John
the Baptist, they were baptized (Acts 19:4-5). When the
Corinthians "believed on the Lord" they were baptized
(Acts 18:8).

The proper way to express faith in Jesus is to confess
His name. In each of the cases just cited, the candidates
expressed their faith in Jesus by being baptized in the
name of Jesus. (See Acts 2:38; 8:16; 19:5; 1Cor 1:13.)

2. Baptism is "for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38),
or "to wash away ... sins" (Acts 22:16), and the name of
Jesus is the only name given for remission of sins.
"through his name whosoever believeth in him shall
receive remission of sins" (Acts 10:43).

Thus the proper way to seek remission of sins at baptism is to invoke the
name of Jesus in faith. Acts 2:38 and Acts 22:16 not only
connect the remission of sins with water baptism, but
they specifically connect remission of sins with water
baptism on the name of Jesus.

3. Baptism is part of our salvation experience (Mark
16:16; 1 Peter 3:21), and the name of Jesus is the only
name given for salvation. "Neither is there salvation in
any other: for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
(See also Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9, 13.)
Thus the proper
way to integrate water baptism with the New Testament
salvation is to invoke the name of Jesus.

4. Baptism is a burial with Jesus Christ (Romans 6:4;
Colossians 2:12). The Spirit of God did not die for us;
only Jesus the man died for us and was buried in the
tomb. To be buried with Jesus Christ, we should be
baptized in His name.

How to Receive the Holy Ghost ?
What is required for you to receive the Holy Ghost?

Hunger and thirst
The first and foremost requirement if for you to desire it, and seek for it. It make take a little time to concentrate and to completely convince yourself that this is worth taking the time for. We busy people are so self-sufficient....

Consecrate
Don't hang out with people who discourage you, and are very cynical. Any old mule can kick down a stall, but care is required to design and build one. Jesus Christ is the baptizer in the Holy Ghost. He is doing a careful and perfect work. Give Him honor, and separate your spirit unto His. That means neglecting some old attitudes, and some people who will try to dissuade you!

Repent
Next, you must repent. This simply means turning from selfish will, and sins which are obvious to you. You know in your heart that you are not strong enough to guarantee that you will never do it again, but for a moment, for a day, and before the presence of God, you can sincerely put yourself in His hands, and agree that you need to repent.

Worship
You should gravitate to either a place of intense prayer, or an atmosphere where there is dynamic, lively and sincere praise and worship. If you seek the Holy Ghost, make this kind of environment your mainstay, as much as possible.

Relax,
let God have his way in your immediate life. Worship him vocally. This is important! Open your mouth, and audibly speak to God. Raise your hands. Empty your heart of everything except praise for the Lord Jesus Christ. Tell Him you love Him! Drive out distracting thoughts. Be willing to say to doubt, "I hear you, but I believe that God's word is true, and God does desire to give me his Spirit". Don't let thoughts of unworthiness condemn you. We are all unworthy of the beautiful gift of the Holy Spirit!

And ...
When you do receive the Spirit, you will begin to speak in other tongues. You must be unhindered and willing to open your mouth and to speak out the strange sounds and utterances which you feel pushing outward from within. This is perfectly right, and furthermore, it is expected. It is the resulting evidence which God provides. The utterance comes from the Spirit, but it is your tongue, diaphragm, and facial muscles which actually make the sounds. Don't force yourself to speak in tongues, rather open up, and allow it to happen as you concentrate on the beauty of the Lord Jesus Christ. And Boom, you will suddenly burst forth speaking in a language you never learned or knew before! The Spirit of Jesus will be speaking right out of your mouth!
and you will know what it is to be like the first apostils... You will know what the prophets never knew and could only foretell for you WILL be Truly Born Again!

Acts 2:16-18
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.

Isaiah 28:11-12
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, 12 To whom He said, "This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest," And, "This is the refreshing"; Yet they would not hear.

John 6:40
40For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 6:43-45
43"Stop grumbling among yourselves," Jesus answered. 44"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me

We cannot be Christians or even born again, if the Father did not draw us, if we didn't listen to him, or if we don't believe in Jesus. It's about faith dear brother, what is being born again? Having faith in Jesus and letting Him change you.

John 3:16
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 10:5-13
5Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7"or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

It's about faith in Jesus as the Bible teaches us, baptism and the rest comes after faith in Jesus.

Another thing, Jesus told us the correct way to baptize people, before His ascension to heaven.

Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

God bless you
Much love

Teraside,
You are 100% correct about "faith in Jesus" being the first and most crucial step of becoming born again… well said!

But there is more waiting…

Pay attention to the word “AND”…

Acts 2:37-41
37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

Acts 19:1-7
1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3 And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism." 4 Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. 7 Now the men were about twelve in all.

Don't get me wrong brother, I am a Christian in the faith of believing in the only Savior that's alive, Jesus Christ.

Therefore I must believe in the baptism of water and of the Holy Spirit, I just felt that your post needed the scripture I supplied.

God bless you
Much love

Steadfast, I'm hoping I understand your post correctly in that salvation is not by baptism or speaking in toungues. But that these things form part of the overall christian "new birth."

Absolutely, The overall Christian "new birth" is the "born again" experience...

John 3:3-7
3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." 4 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" 5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

The "born again" or "new birth" experience, as you know, involves being born of Baptism in water, and Baptism in Spirit... And this "born again" experience was seen happening over and over again throughout the book of Acts...

And as it was then, even so, it happens the same way today!

Glory to God!

I've been taught that baptism is an outward sign of an inward conversion. It is an outward sign similar to the buyer's signature on a purchase contract. It testifies that the believer is now a member of the family of God - his church.

Yes baptism is a public declaration that you are a follower of Jesus and a dying to the old self and rising up into New Life. A wonderful experience and something we are told in the Bible to do after we give our heart to Jesus.

God bless :rose: :rainbow:

SALVATION IS A NEW SPIRIT!
Once BORN of GOD,We are given NEW PERFECT SPIRITS!
We are given a part of GOD,And if we want mopre? We ask in faith.
Water baptism is important if we can??
But,It takes nothing from us ,if we cannot!
But ,we should if possible
New man
New creature
hidden man
inward man
New spirit
Born of GOD
Born again
inner man
All,Our Spirit!
The spirit ,once BORN of GOD ,Is a baby,And must grow!
1Pe 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
The NEW spirit has the fruit and the mind and nature of our LORD!

We are too live and walk in him.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:

Then ,We should be basptisted,Either way is fine!
But,if we do not truly accept the LORD,JESUS CHRIST ,As our LORD and master? We will never know the GOD as ? FATHER AND FRIEND!
That is HIS proper place in our lives. And in the world and all that there is.HE is LORD.But,We must accept HIm ,in that place.Few Do?
And We must be willing to follow only HIM!

I was taught the same thing as a child, BUT then I read in scripture where Peter (the guy with the Keys) COMMANDED baptism…(Acts 10:47-48) And if you read all thru acts you will see apostils Immediately baptizing people after repentance,(Acts 2:41, Acts 8:12-13) Baptizing people who just received Jesus’ Spirit (Acts 10:47) and even Apostils running all day to meet people Just to baptize them! (Acts 8:26-39)

Some today may think that Baptism is a symbol, but it is CLEAR in scripture that the Apostils thought Baptism was SO MUCH MORE…than a mere symbol…

And since it is the apostle’s gospel and doctrine that we MUST fallow, or we will be accursed, (Galatians 1:8) As for me and my household, we are playing it safe, by sticking with THEIR teachings, not what I was taught as a child…

I didn't say that baptism is a symbol. I said it is a sign (manifest evidence, if you will), just as a signature on a purchas contract is not a symbol; it is evidence of a person's decision.

Great thread brother.

How about we all pray that at least one person who is yet saved will see this and become born again, confirm so with a testimony? I will pray for this...and we should all pray like warriors.

Your prayers have already been answered!
An ex-Muslem living in Palestine read what I wrote and posted here at the begining of this string, 2 months ago, on another forum,
and…..
Well,
Let’s allow him to tell the story…

----------------------------------------------------

I would LOVE to thank you, Steadfast, from the bottom of my heart of what you wrote. It is great.
I also had tears in my eyes, because even with getting baptized I have to do it differently than all other Christians. Every thing in my life is different than other Christians. And the only thing I would love to do normally is getting baptized in a Church. I live in Palestine Steadfast, 20 minutes from Jerusalem and Bethlehem. The land where Jesus was born and raised and lived, I live 30 Min from the Jordanian River. I feel blessed living here, but I need to do it right. I will try my best to find a friend like me. Who is Muslim raised and Christian Soul. I will keep trying to get baptized in a Church.

Steadfast, you have no idea how hard is it not to talk. I was so happy when I found this website so I can talk and say what I cant in reality. I am so glad to find someone who can hear my words without fear of death.

Seriously, I am so thankful for what you wrote, and I am so thankful for showing me the way. And I promises you, if I will not find a Church, I will do it in the Jordanian River by myself.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to thank everyone here, I really do. I am so happy and want to share this happiness with all of you guys since I cant tell anyone about it.

I finally got baptized today in Bethlehem.

Special thanks to brother Steadfast who helped me get Baptized in regards of the thousands of miles between us. Thank you Steadfast, I will be praying for you. I would also like to thank the administrators of this website, they are doing a great job. I finally would like to thank all of you guys who sent me private messages to support me taking this step in my life.

Thank you all, and especially you Steadfast.

Hey you all brothers.

Thank you for your beautiful greetings and your support. And thank you for calling me brother.

Here is my story from the beginning as brother Steadfast asked.

I lived in the United States for six years, and I just moved back to Palestine about five months ago. During my time in the States, I decided to convert into Christianity, however I didn’t get baptized. So when I came back here to Palestine, I finally decided to get baptized, but because of the sensitivity of the case I was unable to find a church that would help me and support me to take that step. “Which I understand”.

I looked online and found this website, so I started posting and I asked if anyone can help me get baptized here. For my best, brother Steadfast was able to find me a contact in the States who travels to Palestine. We waited and waited until he finally arrived. I got in contact with the Pastor, and we set a day for baptizing me in Bethlehem. I live about one hour from there, so I drove my car as planned, but there was an Israeli check point by the entrance of Bethlehem. They refused to let me in with my car, so I decided to park my car there and take a taxi. For my good luck the same soldier stopped me and he let me out of the taxi and kept me standing on the street for two hours because my ID is old. Finally he let me go, but to my city not to Bethlehem.

I went back to my city, and decided to leave evening to Bethlehem and sleep there so I won’t have problems the next day and make the priest wait for me again. I did, and I was able to enter Bethlehem. I met with the Pastor the next day, and he introduced me to other people and we talked and discussed the situation besides discussing my background.

Around 3 pm, they filled up the tank, closed all the doors, and we stayed in the room me, the Pastor, and three others. We stood all around the tank and prayed. “It was a nice prayer the Pastor said” then I got in the tank and the pastor baptized me.

When it was all done, we took pictures all together. It was a great day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jesus was the author and finisher of all these events and He alone deserves the praise and Glory!

I would also like to point out, all the trouble My friend went through to get baptized..
His testimony puts to shame those who think it is only a mere unnecessary symbol…

----who says internet ministry doesn’t work!--- :shade:

Listen to me?
I got BORN again,Standing in my living room,A time later I got basptised! Many never get baptisted ,yet stiil go to Heaven [new jerusalem]
I think,All if possible should be basptised. But it is not Salvation!
I think,Many think? Because ,it say water and spirity! They believe ,We must be baptisted ,or we are not SAVED.
SALVATION ,is of the Spirit!
It has Nothing to do with ,the Flesh!
Many ,many scripture reveal this!
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,
Gal 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
OUR begining,is spiritual, nothing to do with the flesh!
Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
I got to go.But I know you think water baptism is a must for salvation ,it is NOT!

I have been fully baptised in full immersion and it is a public declaration of my faith in Jesus. I am so glad I did too. It was a great experience and I know that God was pleased as I felt it when I came back up.

Question: "Is baptism necessary for salvation? What is baptismal regeneration?"

Answer: Baptismal regeneration is the belief that a person must be baptized in order to be saved. It is our contention that baptism is an important step of obedience for a Christian, but we adamantly reject baptism as being required for salvation. We strongly believe that each and every Christian should be water baptized by immersion. Baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 6:3-4 declares, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” The action of being immersed in the water illustrates being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.

Anything in addition to faith in Jesus Christ as being required for salvation is a works-based salvation. To add ANYTHING to the Gospel is to say that Jesus' death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation. To say that we must be baptized in order to be saved is to say that we must add our own good works and obedience to Christ's death in order to make it sufficient for salvation. Jesus' death alone paid for our sins (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus' payment for our sins is appropriated to our "account" by faith alone (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, baptism is an important step of obedience after salvation, but cannot be a requirement for salvation.

Yes, there are some verses that seem to indicate baptism as a necessary requirement for salvation. However, since the Bible so clearly tells us that salvation is received by faith alone (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5), there must be a different interpretation of those verses. Scripture does not contradict Scripture. In Bible times, a person who converted from one religion to another was often baptized to identify conversion. Baptism was the means of making a decision public. Those who refused to be baptized were saying they did not truly believe. So, in the minds of the apostles and early disciples, the idea of an un-baptized believer was unheard of. When a person claimed to believe in Christ, yet was ashamed to proclaim his faith in public, it indicated that he did not have true faith.

If baptism is necessary for salvation, why would Paul have said, "I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius" (1 Corinthians 1:14)? Why would he have said, "For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel - not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power" (1 Corinthians 1:17)? Granted, in this passage Paul is arguing against the divisions that plagued the Corinthian church. However, how could Paul possibly say, “I am thankful that I did not baptize…” or “For Christ did not send me to baptize…” if baptism were necessary for salvation? If baptism is necessary for salvation, Paul would literally be saying, “I am thankful that you were not saved…” and “For Christ did not send me to save…” That would be an unbelievably ridiculous statement for Paul to make. Further, when Paul gives a detailed outline of what he considers the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-8), why does he neglect to mention baptism? If baptism is a requirement for salvation, how could any presentation of the Gospel lack a mentioning of baptism?

Spirit first,
You can believe what you want...
I believe being born again is of the water and of the Spirit...
As Jesus spoke in John 3...and the apostils practiced it all thru acts and especially in Acts 19:1-6...

I have been born again for 20 years...
Time and time again, I have seen evidence of the importance of baptism.
And of the baptism of the Spirit...

I will not grieve the Spirit by trying to talk down the beauty of baptism as "less important" then the apostil believed it was, and showed it was, by their biblical words and actions...

Believe what you will...
As long as I drawl breathe as a minister of God,
If there is repentance, and there is also water, there WILL be immediate baptism in the resplendent name of our LORD Jesus...

by the way...LadyLovesJesus,
is repentance not something we MUST DO to be saved?
Does this make repentance a work?
or
Is repentance an act of obedience and faith that the Spirit leads us to do because it is the first and most Necessary step for salvation to take place?

If repentance is a Necessary step for salvation, that WE MUST DO,
then why is baptism considered a mere work and not an act of obedient faith unto salvation?

something to think about...

brother, The 2nd vs, explains the first vs,
Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

the water birth is the flesh birth
the spirit birth is the spirit birth
2 births

I really don"t like hearing that water baptism is a must for salvation. It says? Many can never be saved?
Like all of the old testament ,And hurt people or sick people or no one on there death beds.
Is that GODS will?
So many could not repent and accept HIM?
No that is not HIS PERFECT WILL!
I know it is hard to change,But ask the HOLY GHOST .He is willing to teach us ,if we are willing to hear???
