His word is like food to our soul.
Matthew 4:4
Imagine only reading the Bible or hearing about scripture once a week in church. Wouldn't the soul be hungry the other six days?
Absolutely! Few, if any, of us fast from natural food all day every day, if ever. More likely we eat our 3 meals plus snacks on a daily basis. What do we think then of Jesus' words ...?
"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matt 4:4
And what good does it to eat the written Word without the Holy Spirit? "
"Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." II Cor 3:6
What then is it that we need to be eating?

Is Jesus not the Word of God? Isn't this also the name we have heard our Bibles called?
We all know what will happen to our bodies of flesh if they receive no, or insufficient, natural nourishment for too long of time. They die!
Why would we think that the new inner man, the new born man, the man born from above, the new creature in Christ, needs less to eat and drink of essential things than the natural man?
Were the following words spoken only to the 1st man Adam?
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Gen 2:17
Do we not eat of that forbidden tree every time we partake of the things of this world instead of things of God? If we continue to eat more death than life, what will be our final result?
