can i ask all ....plz
i was taught
once saved always saved in many pentecostal churches over many years but my good christian freind told me this is not right which ill be honest shattered my hopes for a long long time ,
as i never believed i was saved anymore because of my sins that i did and still do he said willfull sin, disobedience , and not obeying the word would put us in great danger of losing salvation this made me very fearfull and fretfull a lot .and ive met so many folk over the years who have felt the same and i think it be good and helpfull to the weaker in faith or new to the faith to be assured of their salvation as so much wrong teaching going on in the name of the Lord.
so just putting this out there for all you seasoned saints to put it biblically correct Amen x
I can tell you from my personal point of view, that the bible is NOT clear on OSAS IMO, and I can show you scripture supporting either case that you can loose salvation or that you can not.
The bible is clear on testing yourself to see if you have been born again, a born again person is different they are no longer the same person as they were.
they tricky part for me understanding about sin once you are born again was you here so many preachers saying you will still sin, its ok . But you never here a real explanation then on whats the difference when you get born again. So I finnaly realized because of scripture, that a born again person DOES NOT PRACTICE sin as a life style, this is a important concept to grasp. The difference between living a life of sin like I used to for example getting drunk on a regular basis, having sex not married on a regular basis this was my life style I was enslaved to this type of sin. So when I got born again I got convicted by these things and drinking was pretty much a light switch God just turned off for me and the desire was no longer there, however sexual immorality was a difficult one, but every time I stumbled in this sin after being born again I was so convicted I pleaded with God and fasted and eventually conquered this sin well Jesus did. It still takes self control and guess what self control is FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. The more you grow and mature in Christ the more you want to please him the greater your self control becomes and sin virtually no more at least not willingly.
YOur spirit nature becomes stronger then your flesh nature. YOur flesh nature is what makes you want to sin, your spirit nature is what what makes you wan to please God.
As new beleivers its common to struggle with some sins that have strongholds on you, but you can conquer them with Jesus, you have to develop spiritual disciplines like like fasting praying bible study regular, serving the needy. These all have a direct effect on your growth as a Christian. If you say you have been a Christian for 20 years and you are still enslaved to sin, I would be very concerned about if you were born again.
You should be hungering for God, every day in the word.
