How well do you know your God?
"Oh I pray most days, and I read the Bible a few times a week."
I suppose a better question might be, "How well do you think God knows you?"
Psa 139:3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
Psa 139:4 Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all.
Psa 139:7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
How often do you think God thinks about you?
Psa 139:17 How precious also are Your thoughts of me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
Psa 139:18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
Mat 10:30 "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Every day we lose hairs, we grow new ones... and yet he keeps track of even this.
How important are you to him?
Mat 6:26 "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
He can not love you any more than he already does.
Joh 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
What could he possibly do to show you that he loves you any more than this?
Do you ever wonder if Jesus is in the room with you right now? Watching you as you read this message. Watching you as you go through your day. Watching you sleep at night, watching you eat, watching you drive in traffic (yeah, he saw you speeding, he heard what you said about that person that cut you off!
I had a dream one night, that God has this cool VCR player, and he has a "movie" of everyone's life. Kind of like "The Truman Show".
What if God has all of eternity on his hands, and he has alittle time to kill, so for the last 25 years or so (or however old you are) he has been watching your movie, and it's the only movie he will be watching for the next 50 or 60 years (if your life expectancy is about 85 or so).
He watches you get up in the morning, he watches you pray, he watches you brush your teeth, he hears your voice. He loves your laughter.
Did you know God rejoices over you?
Isa 62:5 For as a young man marries a virgin, So your sons will marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So your God will rejoice over you.
He wants fellowship with you, he wants to know you intimately. He wants you to talk to him, to share your heart with him. He's listening.
Now before anyone gets too upset about me limiting God to only being able to handle one person's life at a time, I'm not saying that all, in fact I believe he can multitask better than the biggest mainframe computer. I was just trying to put all this in perspective... God knows you!! He knows everything about you, all your freckles, pimples, how many pounds overweight you are. He knows your favorite color, your favorite song and who you have a crush on.
He knew how you were going to look before you were even born.
Psa 139:13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb.
Isa 44:2 Thus says the LORD who made you And formed you from the womb, who will help you, 'Do not fear, O Jacob My servant; And you Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
He made you just the way are, for a specific purpose.
Psa 139:14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
I was in a mall the other day, resting a childrens play area there in the mall. I was watching all the mothers. But they were watching their children intimately, watching how they behave with other kids around them. Are they sharing? Are they waiting their turn in line? Are they arguing and bickering? Is little Johnny hitting his sister?
I watched the parents laugh at their kids when they did something especially nice, or funny, or silly. I watched the parents of one little girl go running to her when she fell down and started crying.
I watched a father beam with pride as a brother shared the last bite of his ice cream cone with his little sister.
You know - we have a heavenly father who is watching us also. 24 x 7 x 365 days a year, every year of your life. He knows you better than anyone. He wants you to know him.
Have you taken a few minutes today to talk to him? Or is your life just too busy right now? Work, school kids... life is busy. But did you have time to watch TV today, or play a video game? You obviously had time to login to TalkJesus today. Can you give him just a few minutes today?
He hurts when you hurt, he is happy when you are happy, he is sad when you are sad. He loves you more than anyone.. even your mom, even your spouse (if you are married).
Did you make him smile today? Did you share with your sister? Were you a blessing to someone today? Or did you argue with them, did you curse that guy who cut you off in traffic today? Were you a blessing or a curse today?
To borrow a few lines from a popular Christmas carol...
He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he know's if you've been bad or good...
and he loves you.
I think sometimes we think of God as this impersonal being who is watching us "from a distance" (as a popular song says) who is just waiting for us to mess up so he can punish us. Or else he's just to busy being God to really worry about little ole me. Why do we think that? He's right here with you, right now.
Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Heb 13:5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"
So take a few minutes today for him.. Get acquainted again!!
Do you love him enough to do that?
Rev 2:4 'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
P.S.
I bet he rewinds the movie to watch the good parts that make him laugh over and over again.
