For you, "reasoning" means coming around to your point of view.
Instead we see that the reality is that it is God's truth that we all need to come around to and accept.
Instead of continually pointing to other verses that seemingly disagree, how do you resolve THESE verses? In order for your theology to be valid, it has to
agree with the verses below, not ignore them or avoid talking about them.
Matt 5:19; Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
How about Matt 19:17; ?
Matt 19:17; And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
Now according to you, the only commandment is to believe in Jesus, yet Jesus says otherwise.
Matt 22:36; “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
Matt 22:37; And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Matt 22:38; This is the great and foremost commandment.
Matt 22:39; The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Obviously believing in Jesus isn't the only command. But then those verses don't apply to you. This was like the Pharisee's.
Mark 7:8; Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”
Mark 7:9; He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.
What did Jesus say these commandments were? Just believing on Him?
Matt 10:19; You know the commandments, ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’”
Luke 18:20; You know the commandments, ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.’”
Does Jesus really say the commandments are something we ought to do?
Luke 17:9; He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he?
Luke 17:10; So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’”
Is the verse below a mere suggestion? Or is it a command?
John 13:34; A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
John 13:35; By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
How about John 15:12; ? Is this also just a suggestion that doesn't really apply to anyone?
John 15:12; “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
John 15:17; This I command you, that you love one another.
The truth is, some people just choose to avoid those verses, they avoid talking about them and then tell other people "it's just your point of view".
If you don't like Jesus' teaching, we could go on to Paul and what he said about the commandments.
Romans 13:8; Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:9; For this, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Romans 13:10; Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
How about what Paul told the Corinthians? Does it just apply to them? Circumcision was the law, the commandments are just the commandments.
1 Corinthians 7:19; Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.
Now of course you will go back and say the "commandments of God is simply to believe in Jesus" yet none of the previous verses about the commandments even mention believing in Jesus.
What did Paul tell the Ephesians?
Ephesians 6:2; Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise),
Then of course there is the discourse in 1 John 2-8;
1 Jn 2:1; My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
Obviously non-christians do not have Jesus as an advocate, so Paul is talking to christians when he says "you may not sin" and "if anyone sins".
1 Jn 2:2; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
1 Jn 2:3; By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.
1 Jn 2:4; The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
If you say you know Jesus but don't keep his commandments, you are a liar.
1 Jn 2:5; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:
1 Jn 2:6; the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
1 Jn 2:7; Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard.
1 Jn 2:8; On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.
So what is this new commandment? The next few verses tell us, they leave no doubt.
1 Jn 2:9; The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now.
1 Jn 2:10; The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
1 Jn 2:11; But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
reflect your desire to be under the law which has blinded you.
And yet 1 Jn 2:11; says the one who doesn't love his brother (which is a commandment) is the one darkness has blinded.
1 Jn 3:23; This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
1 Jn 3:24; The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
The one who keeps his commandments - by this we will know that He abides in us through the Spirit. If we are led by the Spirit we aren't under the law.
If we keep His commandments, we are obviously led by the Spirit.
