Hello everyone, I am new here my name is Donna :)
I work with someone who Ive known now for about 15 yrs, I gave them a christian tract and told them about salvation etc... this was a couple years ago, she now goes to a church, an episcopal one. But whenever Im talking to her I get sort of under the impression by her actions & what she says etc... that shes somewhat of a self-righteous person and someone who believes that a person goes to heaven if there nice & good.
A situation happened at the job regarding someone else & there views on God and I brought up the topic of Justification & Sanctification and she told me she never heard of it before, That they dont talk about that at her church, and looked at me as though she was hearing this for the first time. She always refers to herself as christian, But someone told me that just because she doesnt know what justification & sanctification means doesnt mean she isnt a christian , but I kind of disagreed. She didnt only not know the words only, but the scriptual meanings, as its stated in the book of Romans by Paul.
Can someone be a genuine christian and not know all of that? I say no. How can a christian not know that Christ took there place?

Hi Donna, welcome to the fellowship

Perhaps you should ask her if she knows Christ as her personal Saviour...

Not being familiar with the terms, 'justification & sanctification' does not mean a person does`nt know Christ...

On the other hand, one cannot know Christ without being born of His Spirit...so this is the crucial question.

This is paramount, absolutely vital in our walk with Jesus

Idea

Jesus did the below to test His disciples, similar might work for your fellow worker.

Matthew 16:13-17 (NIV) 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" 14 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

But wouldnt the spirit of God reveal this to her when reading the book of Romans in scripture, to avoid error from the devil & false teachers etc?
Im pretty sure if I were to ask her if Christ was her savior she'd reply yes. I gave her a pamplet book on the topic and she read a paragraph and then left it on the table at work and left for home.
I just thought that not knowing the meaning would steer people into confusion about there sin and God's viewpoint on it and salvation , that everyone needs to be just with God.
Thanks for your comments and help.

Hi donna, i think you should talk to her more on that, ask her some of the most important question about being a christian,,, Being Christ like should be our number one priority and if we lack that, then we are certainly heading down the wrong path,

A lot of churches now a days are only teaching a part of the bible and not the whole thing thus leading people astray, therefore God says that those who are stronger spiritually should help that person,,, not because we are from a different congregation, we still are brothers in christ...

Thank you,
I have tried many times to help her about topics like this. Her husband is a buddhist and I gave her a tract for him and she just left it in the office and that was the end of that. I was kinda upset about that response because this is her husband who is not saved, and she didnt react at all to it the way I thought a christian wife would , but thats usually the response I get from her. I'll still give out the tracts and hopefully God will open her heart & her husbands too.
