Man: An Eternal spirit

:wink:Brother you almost sound like someone in the Body Churchs. Someon that has some exsperience with Brother Sowders teachings .. , there is a three fold nature of man. Body spirit and soul.. i wonder if you might exspound on your understanding of them .
What does John 3:3 mean? Nicodemus, being natural, could only think naturally. So he said, ... How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Jesus was not talking about a physical birth. He said, that which is born of flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. He was talking about a spiritual birth.

The part of man that is born again is his spirit. Man's spirit receives eternal life, the life of God, and the nature of God. It is man's spirit that is made a new creature in Christ.

Paul calls man's spirit the inward man. Peter calls man's spirit the hidden man of the heart. 1 Peter 3:4.

Does anyone here understand the three-fold nature of man? Why is Jesus called the second Adam? Finally, did Jesus suffer spiritual death on the cross so we may have Eternal life?

James 1:21 says Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

James is talking to born again believers. Of the Father's own will, he writes, we were begotten, or born again by the Word of Truth. He calls them beloved brethern, so they were in Christ. Yet he encourages these born again, Spirit-Filled people to receive the engrafted Word with meekness.. which is able to save your souls. Evendently, their souls were not saved.

You see, a man's spirit, the innermost man, the real man, receives eternal life and is born again. But his intellect and emotions, which comprise his soul, still have to be dealt with. They are not born again. They are to be renewed. See Romans 12:2.

Man's soul is saved, or restored, when his mind becomes renewed with the Word of God that saves our souls, that renews our minds, that restores our souls. Then, we can think in line with what God's Word says. We are able to know and prove the permissive and the perfect will of God, because the Word of God is the will of God.

You still didn't answer my question. Are you saying that we are still under the law?

reply

No, we are not under the Law. I said we have been redeemed from the CURSE OF THE LAW.

And we have been redeemed from the curse of poverty, and sickness.

Mat 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

I will post more about infirmities and sicknesses and Body, Soul and Spirit later, these are all different and vast subjects of learning.

At Death

2Pe 3:13
(13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Yes we have been redeemed; our redemption comes later at Jesus’ coming, not the minute we die, at present you have been sealed.

Eph 1:13
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

When we are born again, we are sealed, with the promise of being raised again at Jesus' coming. God has promised us, in His Word, that He will send his son back and he will raise us, we are waiting for that promise.

Joh 6:40
(40) My Father wants all those who see the Son and believe in him to have eternal life. He wants me to bring them back to life on the last day."

When is the last day? Are people still dying? Has everything been handed back to the Father?

Like in the Old Testament, they were also waiting on the promise of the Messiah’s (Jesus’) first appearing, we are waiting for the Messiah’s (Jesus), second appearing.

1Co 15:21-28
(21) Since a man brought death, a man also brought life back from death.
(22) As everyone dies because of Adam, so also everyone will be made alive because of Christ.
(23) This will happen to each person in his own turn. Christ is the first, then at his coming, those who belong to him will be made alive.
(24) Then the end will come. Christ will hand over the kingdom to God the Father as he destroys every ruler, authority, and power.
(25) Christ must rule until God has put every enemy under his control.
(26) The last enemy he will destroy is death.
(27) Clearly, God has put everything under Christ's authority. When God says that everything has been put under Christ's authority, this clearly excludes God, since God has put everything under Christ's authority.
(28) But when God puts everything under Christ's authority, the Son will put himself under God's authority, since God had put everything under the Son's authority. Then God will be in control of everything.

By reading the above verses, has the end come? No it hasn’t, so this tells us, many things are still to take place.

Certain things are done at certain time, in a certain order, and as we read and study what God is telling us here, we will see some things have been fulfilled and some things are still to take place, everything in its own order and time. That’s why God tells us to wait on him and believe in His promises.

Jesus is the first fruit of those who have been raised from the dead. Once we know and understand the power of his resurrection, all things start to fall into place. We as believers are waiting for the promise from his Father and are waiting for our Lord Jesus to come from Heaven, at the sound of the last trumpet. Only then, will Jesus sort the rest out.

When everything has been put under his (Jesus’) control, as verse 27 says, the last enemy to be destroyed is death and all things will be handed back to the Father, and the new kingdom will come where righteousness will dwell.

Up until today, satan still has power on this earth as stated in verse 24. That authority and power has been given to him from God by fall of the first Adam. Satan is Lord of this age! But the Good News is, when we confess Jesus as our Lord, and believe God has raised him from the dead, we are actually saying, we want nothing to do with satans law and his lordship and this age, we want to abide in God’s law and righteousness and are waiting for the promise of the new Heaven and New Earth, where righteousness will dwell.

Please think for a moment, if death had already been destroyed today, you would not be going to funerals? And all our friends and family members would not be dying and been buried in a grave, there would be no need for a funeral. So everything has its own order and taking of place.

So, as of today, not everything has been handed over to God, and not all powers have been destroyed.

The scriptures (God’s own Words) are there for our learning, understanding and comfort. The prophets, Jesus and the apostles have revealed God’s plan. We have been sealed with the promise of being resurrected at the coming of Jesus.

When we understand God’s power, and know the power which raised Jesus, satan cannot win? Why do I say that, because God has told us Revelation:

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

1Co 15:54
(54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

1Co 15:35-45
(35) But someone will ask, "How do the dead come back to life? With what kind of body will they come back?"
(36) You fool! The seed you plant doesn't come to life unless it dies first.
(37) What you plant, whether it's wheat or something else, is only a seed. It doesn't have the form that the plant will have.
(38) God gives the plant the form he wants it to have. Each kind of seed grows into its own form.
(39) Not all flesh is the same. Humans have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds have another, and fish have still another.
(40) There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. Heavenly bodies don't all have the same splendor, neither do earthly bodies.
(41) The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon has another kind of splendor, and the stars have still another kind of splendor. Even one star differs in splendor from another star.
(42) That is how it will be when the dead come back to life. When the body is planted, it decays. When it comes back to life, it cannot decay.(43)
When the body is planted, it doesn't have any splendor and is weak. When it comes back to life, it has splendor and is strong.
(44) It is planted as a physical body. It comes back to life as a spiritual body. As there is a physical body, so there is also a spiritual body.
(45) This is what Scripture says: "The first man, Adam, became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

1Co 15:51 I'm telling you a mystery. Not all of us will die, but we will all be changed.
1Co 15:52 It will happen in an instant, in a split second at the sound of the last trumpet. Indeed, that trumpet will sound, and then the dead will come back to life. They will be changed so that they can live forever.
1Co 15:53 This body that decays must be changed into a body that cannot decay. This mortal body must be changed into a body that will live forever.
1Co 15:54 When this body that decays is changed into a body that cannot decay, and this mortal body is changed into a body that will live forever, then the teaching of Scripture will come true: "Death is turned into victory!
1Co 15:55 Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?"
1Co 15:56 Sin gives death its sting, and God's standards give sin its power.
1Co 15:57 Thank God that he gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jiggy, Like I said before, to find out what these curses are, we must go back to see what the Law is. As we do this, we find the curse or punishment, for breaking God's Law is threefold: poverty, sickness, and spiritual death.

Here is a scripture I can give you: 1 Timothy 4:8. Ponder that for awhile. Some people would have us believe that we don't have any promise in this life of any blessing, material or otherwise, but this scripture emphatically declares that we do.

You see, according to Deut 28:15-17, 38-40, the curse of poverty was to come upon God's people if they disobeyed Him. It was a curse that would come upon them because they failed to observe to do all His commandments and His statues. But my God has redeemed from this curse by hanging on a tree ( Gal. 3:13, 14, 29).

Another verse to consider is Phil. 4:19. all your needs would include your financial, material, and other needs. In fact, in this chapter, Paul is talking about financial and material things.

Let's see what Jesus said in Matt. 6:33: These things that shall be added unto you are material things in life, something to eat, something to wear, and so on.

Bottom line, the Bible speaks much about prosperity. We see in Luke 6:38 that God uses men to give into your bosom.

I am familiar with the consequences that Israel faced for being disobedient to the God's covenant with them. But poverty and sickness were present even before the law was given and present even after God put away the old covenant. If material lack and physical sickness are curses from God then Paul was cursed by God wasn't he?

Let's see what Jesus said in Matt. 6:33: These things that shall be added unto you are material things in life, something to eat, something to wear, and so on.

This I very much agree with but something to eat and something to wear and somewhere to have shelter does not = extravagant lifestyle. It does not mean God wants us all to be rich in worldly goods. This my main disgust with the prosperity gospel, it seduces those less fortunate to give what little they have to those propigating the PGM with the guise that they are giving to God in hopes of becoming wealthy in return. I see plenty of warning to rich people in the new testament but none directed towards the poor, as a matter of fact Jesus said it is hard for a rich man to enter heaven.

I am convinced that we should give but it should be to those who are without not those who are rich. Jesus told the rich man to go and give everything to the poor not some wealthy T.V. evangelist.

I want to see a very balanced and beneficial teaching here so those who read it can grow spiritually rather than stunted. Remember a little leaven leavens the whole lump.

Jiggy, I see you have problems with people giving to ministries that to me do so much around the world to spread the Gospel. This takes money. Do you really think these big ministries use money given to them for their personal use? These big time ministries obtain their wealth by selling books and tapes that can bless people. For example: Joyce Meyer's ministries uses all money sowed into them to help the poor, needy all over the world. Her personal wealth is obtained from her books and tapes. Ken Copleland does the same thing, as many others. Are you jealous or something? With prosperity, I think you are missing the whole point. God does not wish us just to live a life of just getting by, but wants to bless our vats to overflow. Prosperity Gospel is a manmade doctrine created by people who have problems with the word of faith movement. I don't know about you, but I want God's best for my life.

I don't want to get started on all the terrible examples there are in the WOF group. The ones you mentioned are some I advise people to steer clear of. Now back to my questions, what do you think of Paul having lack in his life?

reply

Paul did not have lack. He was a tent maker and I imagine hid did quite well with this trade. He also received help from the Churches He established, especially the Philipians. He did have a spiritual throne of the flesh because it was sent to buffet him. If you have issuues with God blessing His People, then take it up with the Lord.

By the way, I had a friend who was disturbed with the prosperity message. I asked him how much he gave to the poor, and he said nothing. This tells me some are down right stingy. Jesus wasn't poor either. In fact Jesus and the Apostles were quite wealthy. They had to have a treasuser. :secret:

Therefore, I conclude you have no idea what you are talking about. I am a preacher and one time someone handed me a thousand dollar check because God told him to give it to me. The Bible says we will reap what we sow.

Got any scriptures that state Jesus and the Apostles were quite wealthy?

How about these scriptures?
Matthew 6:19-24
19*Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal. 20*Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. 21*Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.22*“Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. 23*But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. If the light you think you have is really darkness, how deep that darkness will be!
24*“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Matthew 8:20
*And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

2 Corinthians 8:1-5
1*Now I want to tell you, dear brothers and sisters,* what God in his kindness has done for the churches in Macedonia. 2*Though they have been going through much trouble and hard times, their wonderful joy and deep poverty have overflowed in rich generosity. 3*For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford but far more. And they did it of their own free will. 4*They begged us again and again for the gracious privilege of sharing in the gift for the Christians in Jerusalem. 5*Best of all, they went beyond our highest hopes, for their first action was to dedicate themselves to the Lord and to us for whatever directions God might give them

Philippians 4:11&12
11*Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12*I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

1Timothy 6:1-10
Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. 3*Some false teachers may deny these things, but these are the sound, wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, and they are the foundation for a godly life. 4*Anyone who teaches anything different is both conceited and ignorant. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, fighting, slander, and evil suspicions. 5 These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they don’t tell the truth. To them religion is just a way to get rich.
6*Yet true religion with contentment is great wealth. 7*After all, we didn’t bring anything with us when we came into the world, and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when we die. 8*So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. 9*But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10*For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Therefore, I conclude you have no idea what you are talking about. I am a preacher and one time someone handed me a thousand dollar check because God told him to give it to me. The Bible says we will reap what we sow.

So does being a preacher makes you qualified?:groupwave: Did you report it to the I.R.S.LOL

Yes you are very right, the scripture say we will all reap what we sow, which is why I pitty those propigate WOF teaching.

I am gonna need some scriptures from you, it's the rules here at TJ.

Jiggy, talk about being out of balance. Why do you take some scriptures out of context to prove your points? Are you afraid of God or something? What you say is typical Baptist theology. Oh my, I just critized a denomination, but I guess it is OK for you to critize Word of Faith. Who made you the judge, jury, and executioner? :thumbs_do:frustratedfly::hit-with-ball::suspicious:

No scriptures eh, maybe there's someone else here that doesn't know what their talking about, eh Golfjack.

Tell you what, I'm going to give you another chance. List the scriptures in your next post, but please don't use references, print the complete verses out so I won't have to look them up. Thanks

I can give you some scripture to back up my statements and maybe even a little common sense. Did Jesus wear nice clothes? Of course. Did He ride on a donkey? Of course. A donkey in those days was just like driving a Lexus. That is the common sense part.

Now to some scripture: I can give you chapter and verse, but you will have to look it up for yourself. We have Malachi 3:10: Some say that this is an Old Testament verse and tithes are not for today. What about Hebrews 7:8. Now, that is talking about Christ. What about Gal. 3:14, 29? Abraham's blessing is ours. It's mine and yours Jiggy. They can't take it away from us. No, Those doubters, joy-killers, and doubt peddlers will not be able to take it away from us. Abraham's blessing was a threefold blessing. The first thing God promised Abraham was that He was going to make him rich. Not in a sense that we are going to be millionares. Rich means Abundant supply.

What we see in 1 Tim. 6:10 is a sin if one loves the money, and not money itself. One could be guilty of that sin and not have a dime. The Bible says that the silver and gold are God's ( Hag. 2:8). The Bible says that the cattle on a thousand hills are God's ( Ps. 50:10). Why did God put all those here, anyway? He surely didn't put them here for the devil and his gang. If He did, then He loves the devil's children more than He does His own children

Jiggy, do you get my point now? :shade:

Yeah I got your point and I am very disappointed, I was hoping for more scriptures and asked for you to print out the verses so we could go over them.

I listed several scriptures and you need to do more than speculate and dismiss. If you would rather not that's fine too we can just drop it right here.
