Hello! My name is Kelly Anne. I call myself a newbie Christian because to be honest, I've never really been a Christian...that's tough to say because I'm almost 40 years old. I've dabbled in other stuff, but in the end, I was never fulfilled.:coocoo: So...here I am, doing a daily Bible study (trying to anyway, lol) and going to church and prayer meetings. Each day I feel myself getting closer and closer to Jesus and His teachings. It's so exciting to finally be able to be content and eager at the same time. Eager to understand and learn His word and content knowing that by His grace, I am saved.

First....be welcome Kelly Anne.....next.....Curious phrasing.

Which of cause has me wanting to ask you a question.

How does one become a Christian?

That's a great question, and one that I don't know I can answer suffeciantly...to start with, one of my co-workers wanted me to check out a sermon on the internet. Not wanting to be rude, I did. Something about that sermon got me thinking...and then it was like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulder...not that I totally submitted right then and there...no, I had a lot of questions to ask. Especially about the Old Testament. For years I have had a problem with the Old Testament. But I started praying for God to show me a way to understand it and He did with internet sites and insights from my co-worker. A couple of days later I bought my first bible and prayed to Jesus to forgive my sins and I accepted Him as my Saviour. Kind of cut and dry, I know. But that's the best way I can explain it!:embarasse

Hello dear Kelly Anne,

Welcome to you, praise The LORD!

it is such an incredible thing to be a christian!!

but it is also a very serious thing, watch out with false teachings.

it is good to pray to God for Him to keep you in the Truth, keep submitting to Him daily and keep reading the word of God, the Holy Bible daily because that is the milk you need to grow right now, it is very important matthew 4:4. When i just got saved i got caught up in several false teachings, but Glory be to GOD O Hallelujah! He brought me through, He let me learn a lesson not to trust in any man Jeremiah 17:5 as that brings a curse but to only trust in Jesus Christ and to get the right doctrine and to keep it also!, which can only come from the word of God and not from any man.

Well God Bless your heart and keep you in Jesus Mighty Name!

Welcome to TJ, Kelly Anne. Its great to have you with us. Here's a website I recommend to newbies for help with questions:
Spirit Led Ed

I just wanted to tell you how thankful I am for suggesting that web site! It really has been helpful!:shade:

Hi Kelly Ann!!! Gosh, that's awesome your a newbie!! I've been a Christian for only one year. I just wanted to share something that might help you grow in evangelism and it's important to share the Gospel with other people (like your co-worker :thumbs_up) Which is what we need in this world so despretly (And I must confess, I should be doing it more often and stop being chicken!) But it's SO VITAL that sharing our faith with people is biblical. I noticed you stated that you asked God to forgive you of your sins, and I'm glad to see that you did that and your life has changed (im sure) dramatically! Yet, we need to know how to explain what happened to you to explain to others. Jesus COMMANDED us to share our faith with all the world! This keeps the fire burning in your heart for Jesus. So, just to make something very clear and IMPORTANT you are only saved by GRACE alone THROUGH FAITH(Romans) alone because dead works are filthy rags to God. If we are then trying to endeavor Gods love for us by our own merit, then he died in vain.(Gal. 3) So! to look more and more into that and learning how to share your faith biblically go to LivingWaters.com or Wayofthemaster.com and pray that the Lord may lead with the Holy Sprit he has gracefully bestowed apOn you and share your faith! WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!
P.S I cant rememeber exatly the verses but read Galatians and Romans just to give you an idea. After all, ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THE BIBLE has to do with our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless and I will be praying for you!!
