Romans 8:27 says, "And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will" (NLT).
Is this another way of saying that the Father knows what is in our hearts BECAUSE He knows what the Spirit - who intercedes for us - is saying (since They are One)?

You have to look at all things about God this way: There is nothing that he doesn't know. He is omniscient...All Knowing!

I think you cannot decouple verse 26 from 27 because verse 26 gives us the context:

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

From verse 26 we know the role of the Spirit in this regard is to help us in our weaknesses. As human beings, we will not know the will of God apart from the Spirit's guidance. So in this particular case, the Spirit's knowledge of God's will for our individual lives are being used to help us, not to help God who is all-knowing.

Make sense?

It does but then I still dont get why it says "He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit" if the Spirit is helping us and not God :(

Interestingly, the word "know" in that verse (oide in Greek) doesn't mean 'to know' as in 'to find out', but it's closer to the meaning of: to see, to discern, to be aware of, recognize, to regard.

So I read the verse as saying that He (God) who searches our hearts sees (or regard) the mind of the Spirit as He (the Spirit) guides us according to God's will.

That helped me get a better understanding (though not a full one, which is okay cause one can never understand everything there is to offer in God's Word). Thank you very much.

So then what is the meaning of this verse?

Romans 8
26-28Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves,
