Sabbath Obligation?

But its observance was not of obligation. No man was to “judge” others in respect of it. "

Why is it so hard for Christians to understand the definition of the word "sabbath". And why God said: remember it. And there is no where in the Bible that God declared it a worship day.

Because in the New covenant in Christ we are no longer obligated to keep it as Col 2:16 signifies.

I am sorry, (Col 2: 16). Does not say: "we are no longer-obligated to keep it. And (Col 2:16) does not signify such a thing as you describe.
I do understand English syntax! Col. 2:16 says let no man judge you or in respect concerning a sabbath day. And the Sabbath was not made for God or for worship it was a made a day of rest and comfort for mankind. And man still chooses to not lay in rest . God said Remember your rest day set it aside early week, to refresh yourself and the earth and your servants and animals your land to recuperate. And mankind even in Christ live in rebellion to the things God has guided them into for their benefits. The over work the land, they over work their employees, they over work their bodies, their children, the Seas and oceans. And most Christian still do not get it. Because of greed! "Labor not for the food that parishes"!

8Remember that thou keep holy the sabbath day. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and shalt do all thy works. 10But on the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: thou shalt do no work on it, thou nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy beast, nor the stranger that is within thy gates. 11For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them, and rested on the seventh day: therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it. God is your example, here, is it wrong to follow his example?

1st. One must understand the meaning of the Ten Commandments and 600 plus laws God gave in His commandments, and the commandment that Jesus Christ gave to us, His followers. Jesus said: "If you love me, keep my commandments"!
For God written His laws on our hearts. " if you do not want to rest on the 7th day of the week that is your business and no one is to judge you in such matters, and if you decide to "Remember that is a day that God has bless for you to rest, no one should judge you in such matters.

23One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

In the Hebrew these are two different roots (Genesis 2:2 is Sha-vath where Sabbath is Shab-bath...in ancient Hebrew the difference of a single character is powerfully significant...

Maybe, maybe not. Verse 17 could very well be saying that the body of Christ - which is the church (Col 1:24) - should be the only one doing any judging.

So -- God's Word is saying that Either day is okay for worshiping God. So long as we're Not seeing it as a 'good work' To be going to a church service. Every one of us Needs to be taking a day off of working / a day of rest and worshiping God. Whether it is Saturday or Sunday. Sunday is usually the day Because it is the day that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. The Lord's Day / honoring His bodily resurrection from the dead.

I going to say this again, for the hard of hearing. the word Sabbath means "7". God rest on the Sabbath day. The Sabbath is a day "GOD" bless for you to rest. to do nothing! He did not create it to "Worship". The word "Worship" and the word "Rest" are completely different and have 2 different meaning.

Now please stop right there and go no further. "STOP, Do Not go pass GO" just stop. now leave it there. conversation on that meaning is over with. Now go about reading your Bible. Peace.

You might notice that all Protestant churches worship on Sundays because it Is the Lord's Day. It's only 7th Day Adventists who Do worship on Saturday. Well -- the RCC has Mass most every evening. Which would include Saturday.

Who said it was the "Lord's Day" and what "Authority do they have"to say it? I will say this "Everyday belongs to GOD" and there is No special day to worship GOD! That is a Doctrine of a Man , a mere creature! WE are to Worship GOD Everyday! We are to worship with all of our mind our strength and alll that is within us! On the Job, Walking down the street, Walking down the Aisles of the grocery stores and the pathway of The Parks and everywhere we stroll.
And we are always, talking about, letting our light shine. Oh we let it shine, alright, but not to bright, right.

People, just want to set aside a precise day and time and place on earth to worship. But you want to walk all over heaven, , praising HIM. People always want to put "GOD" in a "box" and opening it up when they want to and they determine how much they want to expose Him. "That Dog ain't going to hunt," He is coming out! and it ain't going to be pretty for some. Now, how about that "Light".

I wonder if some of it has to do with scheduling?
Back in ancient times everyone didn't have computers and cell phones, or even wall clocks to tell them what time it was.

But if we are not supposed to "forsake the assembling together" of the church, and Jesus is wherever "two or more" are gathered in His name.
Then maybe it's as simple as "this is the day we decide to get together as a corporate body". Not everyone can meet with everyone else everyday.

There was a long period of time before there was actually a church getting together on Sundays. There was a great deal of speculation as to whether Jesus actually Did rise again. Whether His body was stolen -- all sort of speculation at that time. His bodily resurrection was not a popular event.

However -- we are told in the Ten Commandments to keep the Sabboth Day holy and that was the 6th day.

Does Scripture have to be Loud on a subject in order to do it? You Do observe all the Protestant church worshiping on Sunday. Right?! It's because 'we' are honoring the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. . There Is Easter / Resurrection Sunday every year to honor His bodily resurrection.

We also have Father's Day and Mother's Day every year -- nothing about That in Scripture, either. Same thing with anniversaries and birthdays every year.

I'd Agree that Christians don't have to keep the SABBATH DAY, as the Israelites had to by law. however The SABBATH is a type of Jesus - in WHOM we rest from our labors.

SO when I REST IN HIM (and don't attempt to add my filthy works to His perfect work to earn my salvation), I'm keeping the "Sabbath" not one day a week, but always.

@Bob Carabbio -- well , yes, as believers we can 'rest' in Him. But we we're not obligated to Worship on the Sabboth -- a gathering together with a group to worship God. Because since Jesus Christ arose from the dead early in the morning of the 1st day of the week -- Sunday, we choose to honor Him by worshiping, God on that day.

It's the only one of the 10 commandments that Jesus broke. Of course that particular commandment didnt apply to Him. (Matt 12:8; Mark 2:28; Luke 6:5; John 5:18; )

God actually rested on the "7th" day... ( Gen 2:2; ) not the first day of the week. So he rested on Saturday, not Sunday. Sunday is the "first day" of the week in the Bible.
Matt 28:1; says the first day of the week, is "after" the Sabbath. (In this case.. Easter "Resurrection" Sunday) Mark 16:2;
