Saved – justified/righteous – sanctified – holy

The repentant believer is saved from condemnation by the curse of the Mosaic Law for believing that Jesus Christ redeemed us from the curse by taking the curse upon Himself on the cross. We are saved from a guilty conscience when we are forgiven by confessing our sins and trusting in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

Believers are being justified (their justification) as they repent and confess the sin in their life until they are forgiven of all trespasses when they are justified righteous by being joined together with the Spirit of Christ into His death and raised to llife by being made alive (quickened) together with the Spirit of Christ.
This is when the believer that repents passes from death unto life (is born of GOD) to be a child of GOD. They are justified righteous by being quickened together with the Spirit of Christ when forgiven of all trespasses by repenting and confessing their trespasses. They are also sanctified (not wholly) by being reconciled to the Holy Spirit of GOD within them. Children of GOD have been justified in the name of Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of GOD (1 Corinthians 6:11).

GOD will then continue to sanctify them to make them holy (their sanctification) by cleansng (purging/purifying) their flesh of sin by Christ being formed in them until they are sanctified wholly (completely) and changed to put on perfection and immortality by being anointed with the Holy Spirit of GOD to be a son of GOD.

Because the Spirit of Christ is within a child from the moment of conception when either parent is a believer (1 Corinthians 7:14), there is a difference between how a believer with and without Christ in them is justified and sanctified. Those without Christ (“Gentiles”) that believe and repent are baptized with the Spirit (not water) into Jesus Christ and His death (Romans 6:3-7 – justified/righteous) and raised up together by being made alive (quickened) together with the Spirit of Christ when forgiven of all trespasses by repenting and confessing their trespasses.

Those already having the Spirit of Christ within them (not "lost in the ways of the world" and practicing unrighteousness) are sealed by the Spirit as a child of GOD the moment they repent and trust in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

If they have become "lost in unrighteousness by following the ways of the world" (as a prodigal) they will be reconciled to GOD and restored to life (pass from death unto life) as a child of GOD when they repent (turn from unrighteousness to practice righteousness through love) and are forgiven by confessing their sins as they trust in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

In each of these cases, they will overcome "the world" (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - 1 John 2:16) by Christ being formed in them as they walk with the Spirit to be holy, sons of GOD and heirs of GOD in the Kingdom of GOD (Revelation 21:7) with their name secured in the book of life, to go out no more.

Sanctification, seems to be a misunderstood word these days.

We are sanctified from one point at the moment of salvation. If we died five minutes later, we would go to heaven.
The thief on the cross is an example of this.
Some believe sanctification to be a one time process, but most do not.
For example we are cleansed at he moment of salvation, but we tend to get dirty again.
We know the thief on the cross had very little opportunity to do many sins (if any at all) after that day.

Some preach that we must confess and ask for forgiveness as soon as possible before we die or else we are in trouble.
If this is true, then there is no grace.
Others believe we should confess and ask for forgiveness when we feel lead by our conscience and the Holy Spirit to do so.

In this process of sinning, and asking for forgiveness, we become closer and closer to God. Our sins separate us from God, but we want to be nearer to him.
So we want to sin less. Our conscience and the Holy Spirit help us want to sin less if we are truly led by the Spirit.
This is also called sanctification. It really isn't so different from the first "instant" sanctification. It's purpose is to make us more Holy, more Godly and less sinful.

[/h][h=5]Every Christian is possessed by two basic natures. The old and the new. If the Christian is living in the fullness of the Holy Spirit then the new nature is dominant and the old nature is dormant. On the other hand if he is living in an un-revived state then this wickedness finds its expression in subtle forms of inequity.

Inequity, by God’s definition, is that form of evil in our hearts which tries to explain away God’s demands upon our lives in order that we may continue to sin.

If a Christian is walking in the spirit then the new nature is dominant. It is the ruling nature. And it will always have control over the old nature. If you are not walking in the spirit even though you are a Christian, that old nature will often times come up and will rule your life. And you will find yourself living a very carnal life even though you are a Christian – a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You can be a Christian and a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ with access to God and a secure salvation, but you will not have victory on this earth and be able to walk in the abundance of life that God promises you unless you have moved into that additional dimension of walking in the Spirit.

Jesus is the savior of our souls. The Holy Spirit is the one who empowers us to live the way Jesus tells us to live.

Sanctify and holy, two very similar ideas, the words often used interchangeably in Christianity.
Sanctify means " to make, pronounce or observe as holy or clean (ceremonially or morally), to dedicate, appoint, consecrate, keep, prepare or purify."
Holy means "Sacred, pure, blameless".

Christians are sanctified in the sense they have been made holy, pronounced holy or clean.. or are dedicated to be holy, appointed to be holy, consecrated to be holy.. kept, prepared and purified.
If you're sanctified you are also holy, and if you are holy you are also sanctified.

The first step in sanctification is being set apart from the world. This happens at regeneration/justification. The seal of the Holy Spirit is one way in which Christians are sanctified. This seal is a mark of God's ownership and it is a living mark, a wet seal, in the sense that it is the Holy Spirit permeating our being all the time (2 Cor 1:22). In this sense we are both sanctified and we are being sanctified. This process doesn't end until we are transformed to be the same as Christ.

I like the way this is put here. A seal of God's ownership, I like to think of it as a sign of my Spirit yielding to His. Being led of the Spirit, requires yielding to the Holy Spirit.
This reminds me of Romans 8:14; Is the seal of God's ownership the same as being adopted as a son to Him?

Rom 8:4; in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Rom 8:5; Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Rom 8:6; The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Rom 8:7; The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
Rom 8:8; Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9; You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
Rom 8:10; But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11; And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Rom 8:12; Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation--but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.
Rom 8:13; For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

The verses above make it clear, if we are living according to the flesh, we don't belong to Christ. ( Rom 8:9; )

Gal 5:17; For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Gal 5:18; But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Gal 5:19; The fruits of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
Gal 5:20; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
Gal 5:21; and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Gal 5:22; But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23; gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Gal 5:24; Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Gal 5:25; Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

It's easy to tell if someone is living by the Spirit. They don't have to tell you they have the Spirit. It's just as easy to tell if someone doesn't have the Spirit of God inside them.
Gal 5:19; says the fruits of the flesh are obvious, and so they are. You might be able to fool some of the people some of the time, (including yourself) but you can never fool God.
Rom 8:16 says the Holy Spirit testifies with our Spirit that he is living in us, and if he is living in us, the fruit of the Spirit will be obvious also. ( Gal 5:22-23; )
Gal 5:18; says if we are led by the Spirit we aren't under the law. But Rom 8:7; says the flesh is unable to submit to God's law. So we have a real problem if we aren't in the Spirit.

Eph 4:30; And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption

Yes. When we believe in Christ the Spirit joins Himself to our spirit and declares we are children of God. In a judicial sense we are adopted sons of God. In a real and practical sense, we are truly God's children, having been born of Him by the Spirit.

1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

The seal is the Holy Spirit Himself. The Holy Spirit is also a deposit, to guarantee our future inheritance, which is to be redeemed completed in body and soul. Whatever problems we have in our body or our soul... which is our feelings, thought life.. human will, intents, desires, etc.. the Holy Spirit is a deposit, a promise that God will save us completely.

Eph 1:13-14 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
