great topic,,,i feel like christians should get tested... to me anytime there is not a cure for something then i feel uncertain on how it is spread..all info on it says through needles and blood transfushions and unprotected sex..but to me if the cure is not yet out then until it is we dont know everything there is to know about it.i am married and have been with no other man than my husband but a test every year is not a bad idea..im not putting this disease in a box..it is out there and it is spreading like a fire in a forest..great topic,,something to really think about..thank you..

Something very important you mention above..." until we know everything about it ".....that statement alone should make people more cautious.

Remember sex is not the only way to get HIV/AIDS, it could be carelessness at the hospital or clinic. Getting a tatoo or piercing.

So you can be a virgin who innocently gets a tatoo and never know you got infected. Later on marries that guy/girl from church infect him and begin having infected kids...all because of ignorance.

Until the medical experts are ready to be honest to us about HIV, we need to protect ourselves.

With all this technology, sending a man to the moon...and you're telling me we still have people dying of AIDS and cancer. It's ridiculous. Don't get me started on the poor and needy countries.

Thats why my trust is in the Lord.

Should Christians get HIV Tested ?

Come on lets be honest, some Christians are not virgins, some are sexually active and trying to stop.

We preach to the youths that are virgins " no sex till marriage "
To those that are born again virgins " Resist temptation say no to sex "

I never heard HIV in youth group, so that's why I ask " Should Christians be tested "

We don't talk about HIV, so I'm just wondering.

Also, should a test be taken before marriage if the other partner is not a virgin.

What's your views...should the church talk about about HIV and encourage testing.

Please note, discussing HIV in no way promotes sex, sad to say there are other ways to contact HIV.

Absolutely awesome rizen1... Just what I have come to expect from you. This is a very good thing... lol

As Christians our social consciousness almost dictates we should. Especially with all the ways it can be contracted. Personally I get tested every 56 days, as a regular blood donor it's a part of the process.

Keep up the good work my sister ... may every step you take be accompanied by the Lord.

I was tested recently. I think everyone should get tested for an array of diseases, especially while you're young. You can never be too careful =). As far as the "born again virgin" thing goes, does it really mean anything? I've seen some churches advertise for this and they want a certain amount of money for the process. Well, then again, these are also the same churches that will bless your medication for a fee .

Do all churches charge?

What's more, how many Christians are HIV+ from their old life or even from backsliding. And among them they are single and will probably stay that way unless they find another Christian they are compatible with but who also has to be HIV+. That's the delimna for some people.

christians living with hiv

I was surfing the internet a week ago searching for sites on "christians living with HIV and i stumbled on this thread from your "Talk Jeus " forum.
I am an advocator of everyone being tested so I was pleased to find christians discussing this issue and in fact am impressed to find christians talking about HIV and concerning themselves with those who are infected.
HIV infection can happen to anyone and is not only tramsmitted amoungst those who live a life of wanton abandon but amoungst God fearing Christ loving christians who have contracted the desease through no fault of thier own.
A faithful wife or husband can be infected by a spouse who has been unfaithful or foolish in thier past, a child born to a HIV positive mother can be vertically tramsmitted with the virus, front line emergency workers like doctors, nurses, police and firemen can be infected by the contact of body fluids contaminated with HIV, those who need factor eight injections to stop them bleeding which, before proper screening, was HIV contaminated.
HIv is a blood borne desease which can be transmitted without sexual sin and is therefore something that afects us all.
The stigma attached to HIV is so bad that people in terrible need stay silent and do not seek the help they require for fear of rejection, being judged and being worse off than they are suffering alone. For every one person with HIV their are at least 30 relatives and friends, pastors and fellow christians, who could help them but are not strong enough to take the pressure and so are not even informed.
If ever the church needed to address a need they could actually fill it is this one, Thank the Lord there are new projects throughout the world where christians are getting involved and making a difference to people who have no where to turn, meeting their emotional and spiritual needs, giving hope to those abandoned to a terrible trial of faith through isolation.
God bles you all!! "ye are the salt of the earth"

This is completely my own opinion, but I think everyone should get tested. You just never know. And we are all indeed human.

I think the Church could do with a little more sex-education. I understand the importance of abstinence, but not all people stick to it and they should be informed of the consequences.
