Dave I was the only believer in my house wife and 4 kids didn't believe in anything I have a friend that's a baptist. He asked if I wanted to come down the a family day with them it was a get together about 400 baptists from different places the wife didn't want to go neither did the kids.but she said she would do it for me. While down there she was listen to the gospel been spoken and she got a conversion in front of me. She said it was like her heart turned and went from the bottom of her feet out to the top of her head she felt Christ that was her words. She is now studying Hebrews with other women from the baptists and my kids are talking about Christ. They also attended Sunday school with other baptists kids. I have the problem I can't let go of the traditions of the Catholics I keep returning to them even deep down I know their not biblical.
I was a practice catholic for about 7 years. Been on lots a pilgrimages the last one I was on was last year in Fatima I watched a man crawling on his knees for forgiveness I felt like going over and helping him up and telling him Christ paid in full for your forgiveness after that I started to think this can't be right!

The Catholics have the answers to every question... or so they believe. Through the centuries they have developed an answer to nearly every conceivable question. When people are in doubt or otherwise seeking a place of comfort they believe having all the answers in black and white is all they need. You @OAKLINE are wanting to find something that is unshakeable and see the RCC's apparent completeness as that. Believe me in spite of its "good" superficial face it is incomplete.

I was also raised a Catholic and served as an altar boy faithfully until I graduated from high school in 1961. I was comfortable and did not want to leave, but God had other plans for me as He has for you. There is something more complete than Catholicism and it is to be found IN the Son of God.

Pursue faithfully and urgently what it means to be IN Him so that He will be in you and you will find your solution.

They have answers, yes, but when you are considering going back to those answers consider also these verses:

"Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

"And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:" II Thess 2:9-11

The Truth is Jesus and He is not to be found through logic or through a neatly packaged set of answers. Accepting such a package is, I believe, accepting a delusion in place of Truth.
Thanks for your post

Hello @OAKLINE

Greetings in Jesus name,

Have read the whole posts here from the beginning. It's a blessing to read what God is doing in your life and your family. Praise God.

I have the problem I can't let go of the traditions of the Catholics I keep returning to them even deep down I know their not biblical.

A practicing RC here too almost 20 years ago. When I found out the TRUTH in God's Word, I just simply renounce those practices, beliefs, superstitions and traditions and declare them all null and void. WOW, I can just imagine the curses and misfortunes people (devotees and unbelievers) talk about when you denounce those practices. But by God's grace and mercy, none of those misfortune and curses fall upon me neither to my family though yeah at the beginning they are upset and mad at me.

I continued to search the Scriptures prayerfully as others say here, prayer is an honest conversation with God, a heart to heart talk with the UNSEEN GOD. i fellowship with other Bible-believing people who's in love with Jesus and His Word, that I may continue to know and grow more in Christ, and how to love and serve Him as the Scriptures say. Amen

Is it not a great joy and privilege that we can call God, who is in Heaven, who is Holy and Righteous, "Abba Father" deep down in our hearts? I have never known that, that I can become God's adopted child through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Not sure how far you have gone already with your search, in case I would like to recommend start with Jesus Bro. This thread explains it well what I am telling you

How do I accept Jesus as my Savior?

To me, this is the most important relationship I ever found in my life, and by God's own faithfulness, I would never want to it let go.

Thanks for sharing with us. Keep up. The Lord is waiting for you (Y) Know that you are in my prayers too and your family. God bless.

I too was raised Catholic, for many years, but got saved in an Assemblies of God Church 40 years ago. I also did the alter boy thing for many years. Jesus said......

John 8:31.. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32.. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The more of the truth you know the more you will see the errors taught in the RCC. The traditions of man has no power to keep you in bondage from knowing the Lord your God up close and personal. If it was not for the Holy Spirit drawing you would not be here asking questions.

Good morning Oakline;

An underlying issue with church membership, regardless of religion or denomination, is that we would like to see it expand. Sometimes we can lose focus on who works for whom. I was invited by Mormon elders to meet with them at their chapel. We can say we're seeking the lost for God's church, but we can place our focus on building numbers for our particular faith and not really building numbers for the Church at all. By that, I mean seeking the lost so their names can be written into the Book of Life. The traditions of men is a term meaning it's more about serving our will rather than God's will. God searches our hearts, and He wants to know whose side we're really on. Are we seeking souls for the Church, the bride of the Lamb? Or, are we seeking souls to fill our buildings and ego? I'm not being specific to the Roman Catholic Church as it could apply to any church regardless of whose name is on the door.

As disciples of Christ and believers in Him and his work, our focus should be on building the Church whose membership will be those whose names are recorded in the Book of Life. That is our destiny. Phil 4:8.
