1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Notice, the phrase by whose stripes ye were healed, so that is not a promise. A promise is something to be done in the future, but that is a statement of truth that is already done. So, there is healing available right now, it's not a matter of having to wait for something to be done because something has already been done. Now, what has been done has to be received for it to do you any good. For instance, God told Abraham that him and his wife would have a son and through his son his descendants would be as numerous as the stars. And then in Genesis 17:4,5 it reads, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. Notice, the phrase for a father of many nations have I made thee. But, in Romans 4:19 it says, And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb. Wait a minute, God told him that He had made him a father of many nations when his body was dead(not functioning to have a child) and Sarah's womb was dead(she was barren and past child bearing age). So, him being a father of many nations was not something God had to do and yet their bodies were in conditions contrary to what God said. If God said, He had made him a father of many nations then it was not something to wait for God to do, but something to be received. When it's received that's when you see the change in your body. When God said, For a father of many nations have I made thee, that was reality in the spiritual realm.
Now, understand spiritual realities are just as real as realities in this physical, material realm. For instance, in 2 Kings 6 when Elisha was telling the king of Israel the plans of the king of Syria to ambush the army of Israel, the king of Syria sent his army to get him. And you read in verses 15-17:
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. Those spiritual angels were just as real as those physical soldiers, doesn't the scripture say in Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. That spiritual reality was just as real as that physical reality, if not more real. So, when God told Abraham that He had made him a father of many nations that reality was just as real as his dead body and his wife's dead womb. So, when the scripture says, By whose stripes ye were healed, you can't just judge that by your flesh. You have to take what God says by faith and if it's by faith flesh is never the evidence the word is. (The spiritual reality of your healing is just as real as that manifested condition and the word can become flesh/manifested.)
Notice, in 1 Peter 2:24 it says, Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Jesus bore our sins in his own body and because of that there is forgiveness of sins. Jesus also bore our sicknesses and diseases and because of that there is healing. Isaiah 53:4,5 says, Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Notice, Jesus bore our griefs(sicknesses and diseases) and carried our sorrows(pains and afflictions). So, if there is forgiveness because he bore our sins then there is healing because he bore our sicknesses and diseases. I think people have a problem believing the healing side because it involves the senses. But, you have to do like Abraham in Romans 4:19, And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb. Notice, God established them first and Jesus carried them out, and 1 Peter 2:24 is Peter telling you what has already occurred. Notice, in Isaiah 53:12 it says, NKJV Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. And Isaiah 53:4 says, Surely he hath borne our griefs(sicknesses and diseases), and carried our sorrows(pains and afflictions). So, if you can believe that there is forgiveness because he bore our sins then you also have to conclude that there is healing because he bore our sicknesses and diseases and our pains and afflictions. Because, for him to bare ours that would have to mean they have been taken from us, leaving us healed.
Understand, all that is reality in the spiritual realm, just like Abraham being a father of many nations was reality in the spiritual. And they had to receive it by faith as the scripture says, Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. And Romans 4:20 says about Abraham, He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. God doesn't need your faith to do something for you, you need faith to receive what He has done for you. Because, faith is based on what is done and not what will be done. Hebrews 11:1 says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. How can you have the substance and evidence of something that does not exist. It does exist, it's just in spiritual form. And people think spiritual means not real or less real than physical. But, think about this in John 4:24 it says, God is spirit and yet in 1 Timothy 3:16 it says, God was manifest in the flesh. Is God any less real as spirit as He was in the flesh, absolutely not. But, people think that as long as they have that condition that means God needs to do something, no. Let me show you an example God showed me, Let's say a homeless man takes his last dollar and buys a lottery ticket and he plays the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6. And the man come on TV and calls out the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6, the first thing he will say is, "I'm rich." And most likely everyone would agree with him, but the fact is he doesn't have a dime of it in his possession. It belongs to him, but he has not yet taken possession of it. Notice, what is his will not change his state until he takes possession of it, until then he stays hungry, he stays homeless, he stays without a dime in his pocket. His state only changes when he takes possession of what's his. Notice, he didn't need anyone to do anything to change his state of being homeless, he just needed to take possession of what was legally his for his state to change. You need to take possession of the healing Jesus shed his blood for you to have.
When you play the lottery the rules are established first and when the rules are met then the prize is legally yours. Well, God established the rules first that Jesus would bare the sins of many and bare our sicknesses and diseases. He bore our sicknesses and diseases when he was scourged/beaten. That's why it says and with his stripes we are healed and 1 Peter 2:24 is Peter confirming that when he said by whose stripes ye were healed. God set the rules and Jesus met them so healing is legally ours. Now, we have to take possession of it before it changes our state. Just as people would call that homeless man rich without a dime in his pocket, because of what was legally his. You can call yourself healed even with a condition in your body because of the healing that is legally yours. Isn't that what God had Abraham and his wife Sarah to do. He changed their names from Abram-high father to Abraham-father of a multitude and from Sarai-my princess to Sarah-princess of nations. Notice, what God said in Genesis 17:5,15- 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. Notice, God changed their names in line with what he promised so that they would speak what He promised. What God had them to do is confess what He said and that's what the scripture says to do in Hebrew 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession(confession) of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised.) And let's take possession of our healing.
It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Romans 5:8-10 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. [10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
