The Bible does not say this.

There is no such thing as carnal Christianity in the same way there is no such thing as gay Christianity or catholic Christianity

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Romans 8:5-7

FG Greetings,
You say there is not such thing as a carnal christian.........Have you ever at any time being a born again christian looked at a situation out side of faith? When you were still a babe in Christ were you so spiritual that you never thought with your own understanding ? Of course not. WE have all done that but yet some are very slow to get out of this stage.

That is what carnal mined means......Thinking with your own natural undersdtanding...........It is not a doctrine or movement...it is simply a christian who has not learned to fully trust in His ways and leans on their own understanding.

God Bless you sister
Jim

Hi Jim,

I think this can be a matter of semantics in many ways. Born again Christians can still act in the flesh, no one I know of is denying that. But the "Doctrine of the Carnal Christian," as it is often taught, teaches that because it is possible that Christians can still act out of the flesh, that we should consider everyone who professes with their mouth to be a believer to be one, but just regard some as lesser believers, as carnal. But not to worry about their salvation.

This is a lie straight from the pit of hell. I think that is the point of this thread, and perhaps our sisters post as well. Goats are goats, and are not sheep. You just be born again.

Blessings!

Travis

Hi Travis,
Nice to finally hear from you,
I have not ever heard this carnal christian doctrine but I have heard people claim so and so said this or that and had totally misqouted them. A man who is thinking like the old way or lets call it the natural way of mans thinking is simply a natural man or a NON born again man. Now then when a born again christian steps out of faith in an area and lets say into panic or fear or even doubt then this person is thinking as a natural man or NON_Spiritual and since they are born again they are simply carnal minded in this area. It is not a doctrine but rather a born again Christian whith little or lacking faith in that area.

If a born again person ( is saved ) begins to dwell more cartnal or more along the lines as their old nature does not make them a non christian or unsaved or a goat. It makes them a very week christian weho is not able to walk in His ways and will a christian who is struggling big time in this life. They are still saved and born again and a christian...

If one makes Jesus Lord of their life then they are saved ...Point Blank.......now then what they do with this new life is their responsibility. They will still stand before the Father and have the blood oc Christ covering them and will simply squeeze by BUT will be lacking. No treasures built up in heaven another words never got any credit for doing the things God had called them to do.

God Bless Travis and have a great week

Hi Jim,

Yes, this is what Once Saved Always Saved teachers will say too, and tell you that you should remember that time when at summer church camp you were on an emotional high and went forward at an altar call and prayed with that hip 30 year old with the really cool hairdo, and that because you did so, you must now be born again, so you should start acting like it.

The problem is, no one at that Church Camp explained who Jesus really is, and they most likely did not do the Gospel any justice either (kind of hard to do without explaining who Jesus is).

Thank God that the Spirit of God still moves on people despite such nonsense and calls out those who obey Him, regardless of all the nonsense that is done out there in the name of God.

Good hearing from you!

Blessings,

Travis

No! if that person is truly saved as you say, then Christ is in them. There is nothing in scripture that says God will leave you, in fact, it is just the opposite:
  • God says he will never leave or forsake you
  • Christ says he will never lose who God gives him
  • God says he will see his good work in you finished and to the end
  • Paul says there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ
  • All this being true, what can you do to make God leave, unless he was not there to start with!

The doctrine goes along with I can live in sin and go to heaven. I am just a carnal christian. That is a false teaching.
Ha

but isn't that called presumptuous sin, I am surrounded with them every day and think God will forgive still. I love this discussion, its best to read the word for yourself and have relationship with God, so you wont be sway by any silly doctrine that comes along

RJ Hello,
I never said once that Jesus would leave them. Now if you think that just because Jesus in some one or another words the Holy Spirit and they therefore can not ever think poorly or like their old self or fleshly then you are totally misstakaken on that.
Blessings

I thought carnal mined meant digging with meat.
ya know carnal=flesh or meat
mined=extracted from the earth.

Sorry Jim I tried to resist but the flesh was just to weak.
Well at least you did not say they were corny minded.....you know a carnal of corn.....
Have a good one

Relax, you asked the above question, I was just answering it!

Never said that, in fact, I believe the exact opposite...we are not perfect yet!

Yes

5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil,
6 but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. - Matthew 13

How do you know they were born again Christian?

Serioussly ? If a person asked Jesus into their life they are born again. How do you know you are a born again Christian ?
Faith that is how..
I know what defines a Christian; I know that I am a Christian.
You said: "If a born again person ( is saved ) begins to dwell more cartnal or more along the lines as their old nature does not make them a non christian or unsaved or a goat."
So, yes, your purpose was a statement. Never said anything but just replied to the statement.
Guess we found something to agree on after all: With out faith one is not saved and, as well as, without a repentant heart one is not saved!

Agreed, that is one way. Also, with your scenario, the lack of a repentant heart is another!

from reading the argument here, I think we all need to realize that yes we are all weak and will sin. the problem is will we truly repent of the sin. I do not believe that we can claim god and Christ and live committing adultery our whole life and go to heaven because we said a prayer one time in our life. Repentance is a daily thing. But if it is not true repentance to turn away from our sins, we are in fact wasting our time.
