The Shack

Arrgh I know three women in church who adore this book..i hate it. Sorry. Its just bad writing. One wanted everyone to go to this movie with her even though it cost $25 a ticket.

Apparently its a fundraiser for a charity but thats too expensive for most people, her friend couldnt go so she asked others in the church, one asked me what it was about cos she thought she might go and I said nah its a real boring christian novel, I wouldnt pay to go and see it. So shes going to say no.

Another lady at a different church was in raptures over it and said the author came to a christian conference... I was like did he? He was probably trying to sell his book...i wouldnt thave this book in the church library but the office lady was like you getting rid of the shack, I will have it! Well you are welcome to it I said.

Im not having these pseudo 'christian novels' in the library. For someone with no discernment, they would rather read this than the bible, its as bad as Hinds feet in High Places and chronicles of Narnia.

Sorry, maybe I should say something to these ladies, who really love this book that they want everyone else to like it too? But they wont listen they want to go to anything that tickles their ears.

The author wrote another book called EVE and its more way out fantasy fiction. This lady that wanted eveyone to go to the shack asked me to read this book as well and it was worse than the shack. I mean, just because its marketed for christians doesnt mean it is actually Christian!!!!

People, not everyone can write a good parable, stick with John Bunyan.

@Dave M
Thank you brother for sharing the link to this article. Very insightful article by Randy Alcorn and his ability to talk with Mr. Paul Young added much credibility to this review. He also provided a link to a review of the Shack done by Tim Challies. Haven't had a chance to read this, but look forward to doing so.

Once again thank you for finding this and sharing it with your Brothers & Sisters in Christ Jesus. Always, to the furtherance of the Gospel and to the Glory of God.

amadeeus2 may I ask you a question? [which has nothing to do with the topic but I'll be quick]
why do members here address others with @?
I just want to add to what others have already said.
It is also Common Courtesy to do this if you mention some ones name.
Example
@miracles knows that I mentioned their name.
Blessings

Thats a long article...I saw a trailer for this movie as I was watching Case for Christ, it didnt grab me. I think if you hadn't read the book the movie wouldnt make much sense.

My thoughts are the author has been influenced by false teachers and is blinded. Universalism is feel good theology. The same thing happened to Hannah Hurnard many people loved her book and it had just enough of scripture to be plausible if you werent careful but what a dangerous road she climbed and the fall was great.

I think maybe this author read too many neale donald walsch books (conversations with god ie. himself, cos new agers believe they ARE god) and got confused about who God truly is. A new age god just tells people what they want to hear.
