Joking with you

I will watch this thread and look for a good rock band to add to my collection, I don't think this band is Christian, but Hundred Reasons are from the Uk, and they're pretty good.

Lately I've been listening a lot to Kutless and Anberlin.
Does anybody know about christian havy metal bands?

Demon Hunter is a heavy metal Christian band, you won't say it when you listen at the surface of their music, but it comes clear when you really "listen".

I've got 2 of their albums, latest one is titled "The Triptych"
Their first album was titled "Demon Hunter" and the second "Summer of Darkness"

Just do a search for them, get some of their music :)

not enough christian music!

Im proud of being from the Uk because if there is one thing I can say about the Uk is we have some of the best music in the world!! Beetles,Rolling stones, Cold play, Franz Ferdinand, Oasis, Eurthmitics, Kiss, and many more! But if there were only more christian bands:( !!!!!

I know! there's not enough christian music where I come from either...

Grace and Peace
Hi..lou
If you write full words it will be helpful to our members who have English as a second Language.

I know one's walk is personal, but I think as Christians there must be a code of Conduct. As ambassadors we represent the King and his kingdom.
Music is cool, but we have to be careful that it does not rob others from seeing the light of Christ in us.

There is so many cool Christian bands out with the goal of preaching the gospel.

I use to love Linkin Park and the other bands listed but it was hard for me to sing " create in me a clean heart , oh Lord and renew a right spirit within me " then start singing this

linkin park.."bleed It Out"
Here we go for the hundredth time,
Hand grenade pins in every line,
Throw 'em up and let something shine.....next line skipped because of profanity.Filthy mouth, no excuse.
Find a new place to hang this noose.
String me up from atop these roofs.
Knot it tight so I won't get loose.
Truth is you can stop and stare......
Bled myself out and no one cares...

The last line is a lie..God cares.

John 14:18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Then we have Metallica from the "Kill em all" album.

Down in the depths of my firey home
The summons bell will chime
Tempting you and all the earth
To join owr sinful kind
There is a job to be done and I'm the one
You people make me do it
Now it is time for your fate and I won't hesitate
To pull you down into this pit

So come on
Jump in the Fire

With hell in my eyes and with death in my veins
The end is closing in
Feeding on the minds of man
And from their souls within
My disciples all shout to search out
And they always shall obey
Follow me now my child not the meek or the mild
But do just as I say

Jump by your will or be taken by force
I'll get you either way
Trying to keep the hellfire lit
I am stalking your as prey
Living your life as me I am you you see
There is part of me in everyone
So reach down grab my hand walk with me through the land
Come home where you belong

So many things wrong in this song, what is the message, how does this benefit me.

Follow me...and who is this " Me " not Jesus

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me' Matt 16:24

Its everyone's choice what they entertain, but we must be careful. Even though we skip the other songs on the CD, it does not erase the message the band is promoting.
Please be careful, test everything using the word of God.
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17

Once you lived in the dark, but now the Lord has filled you with light. Live as children who have light. Eph 5:8

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
1 Peter 2:9

I go for the 80/20 rule, if you find 20% or more of a band's music reprihensible then you shouldn't be listening to it... both linkin park and metallica have songs in which we find God or what can be seen as messages to him:
So let mercy come
And wash away
What I’ve done

[Chorus:]
I'll face myself
To cross out what i’ve become
Erase myself
And let go of what i’ve done

Put to rest
What you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty

For what I’ve done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I’m forgiving what I’ve done
Now there's a baptism song

and this song by metallica is up there with some of my favorite worship songs
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I dont just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know

So close no matter how far
Couldnt be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No nothing else matters
as for me and my household we will serve the lord!

Incidentally I don't own Kill 'em all... metallica were going through an offensive for offiensiveness sake when they wrote it and it's never appealed to me.

Like I said earlier, whether you skip a song on a cd, it does not erase the message the band is sending.

Its a personal choice,
I know all those bands, but I'm a worshipper and I do dance ministry. There's no compromising for me, I have people looking up to me and watching what I do. When you're in position it carries responsiblity.

I cant tell them Kanye west music is the bomb he wrote "Jesus walks " His later songs have profanity. But at least his song had "Jesus".

The first song you posted.
Author feels really sorry for themselves and their past mistakes, and plan to do right for themselves the next time...

I've heard many secular songs that touched me so I do understand where you're coming from.
I'm not saying that secular music is evil, I just want you guys to use discernment in choosing bands thats all.

God bless.
love yuh.

In my opinion the message the author intended to send with a song becomes irrelivant once you start drawing your own meanings form it.

I believe that music serves as two things: a window to the soul of the writer and a spiritual mirror for those listening, regardless of spiritual denomination or world outlook. Obviously how much you relate to a piece of music will affect what you get out of it but people generally don’t listen to music they don’t get or dislike. Music galvanises memories and creates dreams. I know that every moment of clarity, every revelation and every time I have come close to God has been accompanied by a soundtrack.
