Then He commanded them that they should tell no one. Is that something for the faith healer?

Acts 6:8; And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.

Acts 15:12; All the people kept silent, and they were listening to Barnabas and Paul as they were relating what signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.

Luke 10:17; The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name."

Acts 21:10; As we were staying there for some days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.

Does "the twelve" include only Judas, or only Paul?

Mat 10:1; Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
Mat 10:2; Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Mat 10:3; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;
Mat 10:4; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed Him.

Mat 10:5; These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: "Do not go in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the Samaritans;
Mat 10:6; but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Mat 10:7; "And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'
Mat 10:8; "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.
'Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed
to the things which we have heard,
lest at any time we should let them slip.
For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast,
and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;
which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,
and was confirmed unto us by them that heard Him;
God also bearing them witness,
both with signs and wonders,
and with divers miracles,
and gifts of the Holy Ghost,
according to His own will?'

(Hebrews 2:1-4)

Hello @B-A-C,

I referred to the Twelve, because it was they that figured in the context of one of the verses given by @Andyindauk for us to consider. Of course God also performed confirmatory signs in regard to the other Apostles, following the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, as you have pointed out: but in Hebrews 2:1-4, that I referred to, it was the Twelve particularly as, 'them that heard' the Lord Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry, that were being referred to, whose ministry God gave witness to, 'with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to His own will.'

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus
Chris

Luke 19:37; As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen,
Luke 19:39; Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples."
Luke 19:40; But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"

Acts 3:6; But Peter said, "I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!"
Acts 3:7; And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened.
Acts 3:8; With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
Acts 3:9; And all the people saw him walking and praising God;
Acts 3:10; and they were taking note of him as being the one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Luke 17:12; As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;
Luke 17:13; and they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
Luke 17:14; When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed.
Luke 17:15; Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,
Luke 17:16; and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
Luke 17:17; Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?
Luke 17:18; "Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?"

Luke 17:19; And He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well."

It seems it is OK, even welcomed by God.. to be praised for the healings He has done.

Yes I believe it is still possible; it's their own faith that makes them whole.
Sometimes we just need someone to stand in agreement with us, perhaps. I know I have had supernatural healings and no1 was there praying for me. I asked, I believed, and I received. Amen

All praise glory and honor be unto God

Hi guys,

If you want to get back to topic, the original point was that Jesus never once used His powers and miracles to boost His ratings. Quite the opposite, telling recipients to keep it under wraps. Rather He healed people simply because he loved the sufferer and wanted him or her to be made well or raised from the dead. The Gospel of repentance and salvation is far bigger than any of His miraculous temporary healing, temporary because the recipient still grew older and eventually died. If you had the true sense and realisation of just what horrors you were heading towards and escaped from when you repented and accepted Jesus's salvation and if you could compare that to the reward that awaits you when you step into the presence of God in Heaven: now that is a miracle worth shouting from the rooftops!

That is the Gospel we should be preaching. It's a clear choice given to everyone, accept life or reject it. It does not need a hook or a sugar coating to draw people in. Jesus rejected a challenge to perform miracles as a stunt -
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. John 6:26 NIV And despite being told that and having just witnessed the feeding of the 5000 they had the gall to challenge Jesus-

So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? John 6:30 NIV

Miracles and divine healing is for the believer who comes to God with their condition and asks Him for His blessing of healing. Nowhere in the Bible did any of the prophets, the Apostles or Jesus held highly publicised healing conventions, so why do we need them now and what purpose do they serve other than adoration of the audience and bulging offertory bags?

The Americans have turned religion into a business money making enterprise - and others have jumped on to the bandwagon.
But the world is a big place and there are churches where healings and miracles are the children's bread -
1: many an unbeliever has come to believe in the gospel of salvation through experiencing a miraculous healing,
2: Spirit-filled disciples are not in the eternities yet with glorified bodies, but we are still here on Earth in these natural bodies subject to ailments, accidents, disease and old age.
It is part of our faith and doctrine to pray for healings and blessings when in need.
When believers receive a blessing, a miracle, a healing then the glory and praise always goes to Jesus and our Father.
Our testimonies uphold and exalt the gospel of Christ Jesus and confirm his word and his promises.

Mark 16:15-20 And these signs shall follow them that have believed: ... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

James 5:13 Is any among you suffering? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise.
14 Is any among you sick? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, having anointed him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 and the prayer of faith shall save the weary one, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.

In our church assembly [congregation] in a northern working class suburb we have a testimony from a ex-bikie who used to wear the club jacket with club colours.
David was a typical hard drinking, drug taking, criminal with a bad attitude bikie.
Our Revival church was conducting an outreach and promoting these signs shall follow them that believe as part of enjoying a personal relationship with the true God of salvation.
David and his friends came over to antagonise these Christians and to have some fun.
He was challenged about some of what he said, and apparently retorted if God is true then let him prove himself to me otherwise you are just the same as all those other door knockers.
Someone offered to lay hands on David and to pray for a healing for David's right hand and wrist (which had been damaged in a previous bike accident).
He did not have full movement in his wrist and had trouble and pain when turning the handle-bar throttle and holding it steady.
Anyway, God healed David's wrist and hand then and there and David realized that the gospel might just be true.
He came back to a service meeting, and eventually in the process of time he was born from above by water and Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues.
What a transformation. From darkness to light !
When David gives his testimony it is to the praise of what God did for him and how that led him to the truth - testimonies are never about how such-and-such a person prayed over me and they healed me.
No one claims any credit for themselves.
Healings, miracles and blessings are always from God in response to asking, to seeking, to believing in the promises of God.
Jesus did innumerable miracles and healings to display the love, the grace, and the truth of God our Father.
Even in the OT healings and blessings were a promise of the Law in observing faithfulness and obedience to the commandments of GOD.

John 14:12 Amen, Amen, I say unto you, Who believeth unto me, the works that I do shall HE do also; and greater than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.
13 And whatever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask me anything in my name, that will I do.

1Thes 1:5; for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

Mark 16:20 And THEY went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed.

Acts 15:12 And all the multitude kept silent, and heard Barnabas and Paul rehearsing what signs and wonders God had wrought among the nations through them.

Romans 15:17 I have therefore the glorying in Christ Jesus in the things pertaining unto God.
18 For I dare not speak aught save the things which Christ wrought through me, for obedience of the nations, by word or deed,
19 in power of signs and wonders, in power of the Holy Spirit; so that from Jerusalem, and round about even unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of the Christ;

2Cor 12:12 Indeed the signs of the apostle were wrought among you in all patience, both by signs and wonders and powers.

2Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power be of God, and not from us;

Hebrews 2:3 how shall WE escape, if we neglect so great a salvation? which having at first been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard;
4 God bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and manifold powers, and distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to his will.

distributions of the Holy Spirit is a reference to the nine gifts distributed to the saints - the ekklesia - of the Spirit-filled body of Christ - 1Corinthians 12:1-11
thus signs, wonders and power in the Holy Spirit are also given to Spirit-filled disciples and not just apostles.

The body of Christ - the ekklesia - the called out ones - a church - a body of believers
according to scripture a church should manifest the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit
1Corinthians 12 and 1Corinthians 14

1Cor 12:8 For to one is given through the Spirit a word of wisdom; and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:
9 to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit;
10 and to another workings of powers; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits: to another kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues;

Hebrews 2:3 how shall WE escape, if we neglect so great a salvation? which having at first been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard;
4 God bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and manifold powers, and distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to his will.

It wasn't just "the twelve" here by any stretch either. For example...

The events in Acts 2 ( the upper room ), affected 120 people at first.

Act 1:15; At this time Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty persons was there together), and said,
Act 2:1; When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
Act 2:2; And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3; And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.

Is there any reason to believe this didn't happen to everyone ( the entire 120 people ) in the upper room?

Mary and Jesus's brothers were there.

Acts 1:14; These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

Act 2:38; Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Act 2:39; "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself."
Act 2:40; And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation!"
Act 2:41; So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

This was likely the same day as the "upper room event" in Acts 2, but if not, then only 2 or 3 days afterward. 3,000 more people received the Holy Spirit.

Just two chapters later, this number increases again...

Acts 4:4; But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

... and that was just "the number of the men" there. If we add women and children, it was probably substantially higher.

The other thing to keep in mind here... the "day of Pentecost" wasn't a once and done event. It was likely annual. There are at least 3 days of Pentecost mentioned in the NT.

Acts 2:1; When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
Acts 20:16; For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.
1Cor 16:8; But I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost;

Not to change the subject but it’s the same thing as the false tongue doctrine No such thing as a sign gift. I did it. . . it proves it (self-edifying ) In the end it leads to blasphemy .

Acts 28:8 And it was so, that the father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery: unto whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laying hands on him healed him.
9 And when this was done, the rest also that had diseases in the island came, and were cured:

@B-A-C

Greetings,

Perhaps, but it does seems like there is a bias when people reply to the "off topic" subjects.
Why not "nip it in the bud", when it first goes off topic, rather than allowing it too go so far?

thank you for your thoughts and comments.
I am not altogether with you about what you are suggesting here
but it does seems like there is a bias when people reply to the "off topic" subjects.
so please feel free to PM me if you would like to help me understand your comment/helpful input [you can do so here but so as to not derail the thread (again) perhaps a PM is better?

As far as "nip it in the bud", sometimes we have to decide between flat out removal or requests to cease (which can be and often are ignored) and/or whether to let it be an open discussion with some attempt to bring it all back around to the thread topic and discussion. Sometimes, also, and please forgive me, but sometimes I and perhaps we, do not see posts/replies in any particular thread until after the dialogue has settled in and to change it or remove it can cause a pickle if there are morsels of the topic interwoven in the replies.
If any Member would like to take it upon themselves to 'watch out' for such occurrences that might need nipping in the bud, please feel very welcomed to do so, via the Report button or if need be, a PM to one or more Staff Members.

With regards to the portion you quoted me on, it did have further to it and was met with replies; the point was to not abruptly end anything but use the present to continue the OP topic, even if only in increments.
Whether one does what is known as 'tongues' or not, is not the problem as much as the incessant pushing of that 'doctrine', at every opportunity.

The reply by Member Complete @complete was perhaps trying to bring in a context and not a diversion to cessation. Quite often we can read passages or verses and, without blinking, think they are relating to all and sundry and yet at times, the writer of the book (whichever one) is referring to 'one of them' or as when the Apostle Paul writes, referring to the Apostles while addressing the hearers. Perhaps not go any further here but that was my take on what was written by our Sister. Given the topic at hand, it was a point being proposed for consideration, which, like most replies here and everywhere, can add something to the discussion and thought process of those reading and participating.

Thank you again for your helpful reply and comments. [i reply here as your reply still exists]

May you know and have God's peace in Christ

Bless you Brother ....><>

Subject heading:- Then He commanded them that they should tell no one. Is that something for the faith healer?

OP:- Again, departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon, He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee. Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue. Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.” Mark 7:31-37

Jesus is presented with a deaf man with a speech impediment and a request to heal him. Now this guy is somehow treated differently from most other healings. Hitherto healing was instant but on this occasion Jesus makes a bit of a meal of it; it's like He performs a minor operation on the man so instead of Jesus just saying, be healed, He puts a finger in the patient's ears and spits and uses His spittle by touching the guy's tongue with it and says 'Ephaphatha' which translates, be open. Then immediately the man can hear fine and he talks normally. This is similar to John 9:1-7. So why is it that this man's condition seemed a bit harder for Jesus to heal than say the Centurion's servant who was close to death but was healed at a distance Luke 7:1-10? When I'm lifting weights at the gym, they tell me not to jerk the weights but lift them slowly to get maximum benefit. In the same way, Jesus is showing total control over illness, He can heal instantly or slowly. He doesn't need a sledge hammer to crack a nut!

But why does Jesus time and again, instruct the recipients of miracles to stay quiet? Wouldn't it make more sense if miracles were broadcast far and wide to the glory of God?

Jesus was never a good showman. Notice, right at the beginning, Jesus took the man aside from the multitude. Why? Miracles were performed more out of love for the patient than as a publicity stunt. There were exceptions, John 9:1-7. There are similarities between these two miracles; neither were instant results. In the John 9 miracle, Jesus makes a clay from His spittle. It's likely that He did that to wind up the Pharisees, knowing that they'd view this making clay on the Sabbath would bring condemnation from the Pharisees for breaking their mad regulations, which clearly had no scriptural authority. That was a fringe benefit, the real reason he healed this man was out of love for the man.

Questions from this miracle-

Is there a place today for high publicity healing services?
Was there ever an instance of the sufferer falling over in the Spirit?
Was there ever recorded offertory bags being passed around after the miracle?
What's the difference between Acts 3:6-16 and Matthew 7:22?
For comparison:-

Mark 7:31-37:-
'And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon,
.. He came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
.... And they bring unto Him one that was deaf,
...... and had an impediment in his speech;
........ and they beseech Him to put His hand upon him.
And He took him aside from the multitude,
.. and put His fingers into his ears,
.... and He spit, and touched his tongue;
...... And looking up to heaven, He sighed, and saith unto him," Ephphatha," that is, 'Be opened'.
........ And straightway his ears were opened,
.......... and the string of his tongue was loosed,
............ and he spake plain.
And He charged them that they should tell no man:
but the more He charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
And were beyond measure astonished, saying,
"He hath done all things well:
He maketh both the deaf to hear,
and the dumb to speak
."'

John 9:1-7
And as Jesus passed by, He saw a man which was blind from his birth.
.. And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Master, who did sin,
.... this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
"
...... Jesus answered, "Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents:
........ but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."

.......... I must work the works of Him that sent Me, while it is day:
............ the night cometh, when no man can work.
.............. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
When He had thus spoken,
.. He spat on the ground,
.... and made clay of the spittle,
...... and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
........ And said unto him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam," (which is by interpretation, Sent.)
.......... He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.'

Luke 7:1-10
'Now when He had ended all His sayings in the audience of the people, He entered into Capernaum.
.. And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
.... And when he heard of Jesus,
...... he sent unto Him the elders of the Jews,
........ beseeching Him that He would come and heal His servant.
And when they came to Jesus, they besought Him instantly,
.. saying, That he was worthy for whom He should do this:
.... "For he loveth our nation,
...... and he hath built us a synagogue."

Then Jesus went with them.
.. And when He was now not far from the house,
.... the centurion sent friends to Him, saying unto Him,
...... "Lord, trouble not Thyself:
........ for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
.......... Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto Thee:
............ but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
.............. For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers,
................ and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh;
.................. and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it."

When Jesus heard these things,
.. He marvelled at him,
.... and turned Him about,
...... and said unto the people that followed Him,
........ "I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."
.......... And they that were sent, returning to the house,
............ found the servant whole that had been sick.'

Question:- 4) What's the difference between Acts 3:6-16 and Matthew 7:22?

Acts 3:6-16
'Then Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:
.. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
.... And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up:
...... and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
........ And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple,
.......... walking, and leaping, and praising God.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
.. And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple:
.... and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
...... And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John,
...... all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people,
.. Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us,
.... as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
...... The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers,
........ hath glorified His Son Jesus; Whom ye delivered up,
.......... and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
............ But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
.............. And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.'

Matthew 7:22
'Not every one that saith unto me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day," Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name?
and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."'
(Mat 7:21-23)

Hello @Andyindauk,

I believe the miracles were signs, not only in confirmation of the word given, but as a witness to the identity, person, and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and also to Israel as a nation, re. their condition before God. The miracles were the works of God, for our Lord only ever did and said what He saw His Heavenly Father do and say. They were obviously also done out of love and compassion, but that they each have a significance beyond the act of healing should not be forgotten: like that of the parables.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus

...... and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers,
................ and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh;
.................. and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it."

And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people,
.. Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us,
.... as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
...... The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers,
........ hath glorified His Son Jesus; Whom ye delivered up,
.......... and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
............ But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
.............. And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.'

Matthew 7:22
'Not every one that saith unto me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day," Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name?
and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."'

Dear Sister,
Amazing the methodology of the healings!
You could add this one as well!

[Mat 9:20-22 NKJV]
20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.
21 For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well."
22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.

I particularly like how Mark tells it, because the woman could have run away into the crowd and still been healed, but that would be diverting this to another area in the discussion, so I won't go there! :)

[Mar 5:25-34 NKJV]
25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years,
26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.
27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind [Him] in the crowd and touched His garment.
28 For she said, "If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well."
29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in [her] body that she was healed of the affliction.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, "Who touched My clothes?"
31 But His disciples said to Him, "You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?' "
32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
34 And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."

Hi @Christ4Ever,

Yes, Mark's commentary fills that scene out and gives it substance, doesn't it?

Wonderful healing.

Thank you.

FFS! There is a thing called Cessationism. The days of healing people, seeing miracles etc ended when the apostles had finished there spiritual journey. If these so called healers were so clever, why arent they in the childrens ward at the local hospital healing the sick children?? I can wait for the answer. How about you stop focusing on the prophet of Baal, and start focusing on the real Jesus.

The Use of Spiritual Gifts

12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware. 2 You know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to the mute idols, however, you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking [a]by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is [b]accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except [c]by the Holy Spirit.

4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. 6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith [d]by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of [e]healing [f]by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the [g]effecting of [h]miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the [i]distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

12 For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For [j]by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [k]any the less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason [l]any the less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. 19 If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But now there are many members, but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, [m]it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23 and those members of the body which we [n]deem less honorable, [o]on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, 24 whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, 25 so that there may be no [p]division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is [q]honored, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it. 28 And God has [r]appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then [s]miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. 29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of [t]miracles, are they? 30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? 31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts.

I have gone out of my way, and now post chapter 12 from the NASB so that you might, in earnest, begin to consider the truth that chapters 12, 13, and 14, and indeed the entire Epistle is of a single context and Paul's Letter had neither chapter nor verse and all is of one context. Tongue Speaking, speaking in unknown tongues of Angels, is a gift of Ruah but never should more than one or two speak thus and, they, never without an independant interpreter.

And here is a study on why, when and, how to properly speak in the Tongues of Angels from the Open Biblesite:

Hello @th1bill,

Yes, Paul begins his instruction regarding spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:11 unto 4:40, with the words, 'Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.' You refer us also to many useful Scriptures concerning Spiritual Gifts, for which I thank you.

The first reference in Acts 2:4-12, refers to the day of Pentecost. All were Jews, described as, 'devout men, out of every nation under heaven.' They had travelled many miles to attend the Feast of Pentecost at Jerusalem. When the disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost, they began speaking with other tongues, 'as the Spirit gave them utterance': and all were amazed; for they heard what was said, in their own languages. They did not require an interpreter, for all was clear. Praise God! That was the intention, that was why the gift of tongues was given at that feast, to magnify God, and as 'signs following' in confirmation of the Apostles ministry.

Later, the Gentiles are also blessed with the same manifestation of the Holy Spirit, with the conversion of Cornelius in Acts 10. Testifying to the Jews, that God is no respecter of persons, in the hope that they would emulate them, repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah and King.

Baptism in water and Baptism with the Holy Spirit were carried out together throughout the ministry of the Apostles, during the Acts period. Then following the revelation of God to Paul at the end of the 40 year Acts period, 'the unity of the Spirit was declared' (Ephesians 4:1-7), and only one Baptism remained. That was the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which takes place the moment that faith enters: and the gift of God's grace, in salvation is received; we are not told that it was accompanied by signs of any kind at that time. The Holy Spirit also caused them to prophecy, as a means of mutual edification.

I have looked at many of your references, but have not been through them all yet, I look forward to doing so.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
