'Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him,
We have found Him, of Whom
Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write,
Jesus of Nazareth,
the son of Joseph (by law). '
(John 1:45)
'And He said unto them,
"These are the words which I spake unto you,
while I was yet with you,
that all things must be fulfilled,
which were written -
.. in the law of Moses,
.... and in the prophets,
...... and in the psalms,
........ concerning me.
Then opened He their understanding,
that they might understand the scriptures,'
(Luke 24:44-45)
Hello there,
Several of the members read through the Old Testament books recently, and were truly blessed by it, we started with reading the book of Revelation, and then read through the Old Testament Prophets with the intent of receiving light on what we had read in Revelation.
In the light of what is said in the verses quoted above concerning Christ being the subject of 'the Law', 'the Prophets', and 'the Psalms', (this is how the Lord Himself divided the Scriptures) would anyone like to join me in searching the Scriptures to find how the Lord Jesus Christ is typified there, and in the Bible as a whole.
* For example I had occasion to look at the book of Numbers today with this in mind, and found the Lord Jesus Christ typified in the following ways. As:-
- 'Son of Man', 'lifted up' in Numbers 21:9 (see John 3:14-15).
- 'The Rock', in Numbers 20:11 (see 1 Corinthians 10:4).
- 'The Manna', that sustained Israel through the wilderness in Numbers 11:7-9 (see Deuteronomy 8;2-3 and John 6:57-58).
- The future 'Star' that shall rise 'out of Jacob,' in Numbers 24:17 (see Luke 1:78; 2 Peter 1:19; Revelation 2:28; Revelation 22:16).
Thank you
