“Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.” (Philippians 1:12-14 NASB’95)
The apostle Paul was in prison for teaching about Jesus Christ and for preaching the message of the gospel of our salvation. But he was rejoicing because, for the sake of the name of Jesus and the sake of the gospel, the word of his imprisonment only worked for the greater progress of the gospel. So it backfired on his opponents who were attempting to stop the spreading of the truth of the gospel. The same happened when they killed Jesus. His death on that cross only served to spread the gospel, not to stop it.
And I have shared before my testimony of how I kept meeting with rejection and persecution over again within the gatherings of institutional incorporated under (partnered with) the state “churches” (businesses) which are being marketed to the people of the world. For they were altering the character of God, and of his church, and of his gospel, and they were becoming very worldly and more permissive about sin, and so I did not “fit” with them for I stood for righteousness, truth, the purity of the word, and obedience to God.
So, finally the Lord convinced me to come out from among them, for they had no place for me, and they kept rejecting me and pushing me aside. So he sent me to the internet, instead, where for almost 21 years he has been having me share my times of devotion with him in his word each day on the internet in the forms of devotions, songs, poems, memes, books, and video talk devotions. And the gospel is spreading to people all over the world. So the rejection I faced only served to advance the teaching of the gospel.
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith, so that your proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again.” (Philippians 1:21-26 NASB’95)
And this is the attitude that all of us should take who follow Jesus Christ with our lives. And for me, at the age of 75, I am definitely feeling what Paul felt and expressed. I am so ready to be with my Lord and to no longer be living in this wicked and evil world with all that is going on in our world and in my nation. I long for the day when all this will be over and I will be with my Lord for eternity. But I know he has me still here for a reason, and I want to do his will and to follow his leading in continuing to share his word each day.
So, for to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. I agree! I know that I will continue to live on this earth as long as the Lord has a purpose for me to be here, and as long as I am able to be used by him in the spreading of the truth of his word and of his gospel message. And when he is finished with me on this earth, he will take me home to be with him, and I look forward to that day. But I am very thankful that he chose me to be one of his and that he called me to this ministry, but he gets all the glory for the good it does.
All is for the glory of God and for the salvation of human lives. All is for the strengthening and encouragement of the body of Christ in our walks of faith in obedience to our Lord and to his commands. All is for changed lives, for those who walk in darkness to now come to the Light of Jesus Christ and of his gospel message so that, by faith in him, they will die with him to sin and now walk with him in obedience to his commands in holy living. And all is being led by the Spirit and empowered by God, and not of human flesh.
And all is for the purpose of teaching the truth of the gospel of our salvation in a day and time when so many people are altering and diluting the message of the gospel to make it more acceptable and appeasing to human flesh. For the lies need to be exposed for what they are, and the truth needs to be proclaimed in opposition to the lies. For many people are following the lies to their deaths, and they need to hear and to believe the truth so that they can turn from their sins and now obey the Lord, in his power.
The gospel that Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught, teaches us that we must deny self, put sin to death in our lives daily, by the Spirit, and walk (in conduct, in practice) in obedience to our Lord and to his commands. For this is what genuine biblical faith looks like. Faith = obedience, and disobedience = unbelief. This doesn’t make us perfect, but if sin continues to be our practice, and not obedience to the Lord and to his commands, then we will not inherit eternal life with God, even if we claim to have faith.

I AM
By L. Wayne Hilliard / Michael W. Smith
I am the root of David,
The bright and morning star,
I am the Lion of Judah,
I am, I am,
I am Alpha and Omega,
The beginning and the end,
The first and the last –
I am, I am.
I am faithful and true,
I am the Word of God,
I am the Lamb, I am, I am.
I am the Resurrection
And He that lives,
I am alive forever, Amen, Amen.
I am the King of kings and Lord of lords,
I am holy, holy Lord God Almighty
Which was, and is, and is to come,
I am, I am, I am that I am.
I am, I am, I am!
