SignUp Now!Brilliant analogy. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your thought that perhaps the Holy Spirit illuminated upon your mind. Vivid and bright illustration. Thanks.@Jesus_is_LORD
I just had this thought. When a prisoner being in prison for many years, he has only known the way of a prisoner. No bills, told when to go to bed, when to wake up, when to go outside, when to eat, how to eat, etc. But now, nearing the end of his life sentence, the parole board approves his release, and he is set free. How do you think this man will respond to his new freedom? Will he know how to be free? How does he find a place to live now that he has to provide for himself? How does he pay rent? How does he find a job? All of these things have to be learned in his new freedom.
My experience with non-Pentecostal Christians is that they have not received the power of the Spirit of God within them.
When people submit to the full gospel of salvation and are also baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues then truly they are set free from their past lives and infirmities.
In Pentecostal churches most adults (and even some teenagers) have powerful testimonies to being set free from the flesh; from all manner of harmful addictions or sinful ways.
Gamblers no longer gamble; violent people overcome their anger and violence; junkies and druggies are set free; alcoholics stop drinking; people cease cursing in bad language; and so on.
The truth shall set you free - the Spirit of truth - the power of God dwelling within.
And when we pray in the Holy Spirit (tongues) daily the Spirit of God works deep within our hearts and souls to cleanse us from sin and to enable us to be overcomers.
Zecariah 4:6 Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
2Timothy 1:6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,
1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
It came and I thanked the LORD immediately! I have two witnesses - one may have looked at me funnyBrilliant analogy. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your thought that perhaps the Holy Spirit illuminated upon your mind. Vivid and bright illustration. Thanks.
John 1:12-13 testifies that the receiving of power also happens at our salvation. You got that right, not by might or power.
I don't want to get side-tracked but just quickly. So you believe in two Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
One upon confession and then another to receive power?
So if someone receives the first they go to heaven?
Or do they need the second baptism as well to go to heaven?
Thanks.
You are reading translations, you are made “Righteous” indicative! We are made sinners at birth because of Adams sin…
Romans 5:19
For as by one man's disobedience many were “made sinners”, so by the obedience of one shall many be “made righteous.”
And so at “rebirth” ( born again) we are “made righteous” by Christ.
If a person is crucified with Christ, then they are dead to sin, the old Adam nature (sin nature) is dead. Meaning they will no longer serve sin.
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
Those who are truly born again of the Holy Spirit will no longer live in sin( being dead to sin)
Romans 6:7
For he that is dead is freed from sin.
1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1 John 5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of Godkeepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
When I was “Born from above” filled with “The Parakletos of God” how could I know what commands of Jesus Christ or to know anything about salvation ,Justification, Holiness, Eternal Life, The Atonement and..etc..We are made sinners at birth because of Adams sin…

Aww Waggles, if Pentecostals have so much power, why do they still have some false beliefs? My experience with non-Pentecostal Christians is that they have not received the power of the Spirit of God within them.

When a person is made free from sin, and made righteous, they will do righteousness, not unrighteousness. We will be righteous when we are fully clothe in Immortality when this corruption will put on The Incorruptible!
I know your human flesh cries out that you are righteous! But we are not, now it is “imputed righteousness” we are being saved!
No one what’s to “Walk in the path growing on to “ Sanctification unto Holiness”! We even hate the thought of such a work being made in us!
Many think the time they we are born from above! They are perfect and holy and pure and completely Sanctify. Because of a feeling of Joy!
Not realizing they are nothing but little baby’s in Christ, and so they grow into teenaged years, and get to a point, thinking they have become a man! And you cannot tell that teenager nothing, he will not even read!
I’m speaking in relating to “Spiritual children “
And most adults do not want to read or study plain words! They will not! They read , run over simple words. They do not know what a paragraph or a coma even mean!
I know, I talked to many of adults from 19-late 60,s christians and have them read a “Text” thinking they know what they have read, then have them read it again with my personal instructions. And I might ask them what does this word mean, and corrected them!
And their reply is “Oh My GOD” I read that wrong! I see plainly! Now.
And my reply most people or Christian’s and a lot of pastors do the same!
Because they have heard so many times wrong, they become blind to the Truth. Unless someone gets them alone in Quietness, and calm. And help from the Spirit of GOD.
Then from that time on they take notice, and pass on to others what they have learn just by regular reading.
Or they just keep doing it the same way they always have done it.
But “Train up a child in A way that it SHOULD GO, it will not depart when it gets old”
If a person has not been train properly how to read a book properly he will not depart, once he gets oold”
And there is nothing we can do.
“Where sin abound grace abound that much more”
“We might as well bear with them”
King James Bible
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
To each person his own, every “True Child of The Living GOD” has “The Parakletos” living in them, and “The Parakletos” will do what He is supposed to do for that Particular child. When a person is made free from sin, and made righteous, they will do righteousness, not unrighteousness.
You will know a tree by his fruit.
1 John 2:29
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
1 John 3:7
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1 John 3:10
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
One thing I have personally learned is that being able to stop a certain sin, (such as Drug use) on our own power and self-discipline is NOT the same as being set free from the sin with Jesus in control.
I remember when I would quit using drugs on my own I was still in bondage and miserable dreamed about the drugs and had to fight it off all day. I had lunch a while back with a friend who has been clean for 20 years from a heavy drugging lifestyle, and he told me he had to fight the addiction every day.
Well now I no longer use drugs and Jesus has set me free, I do not have to fight the urge, Jesus has taken the urge away from me.
So to me, being set free is when Jesus changes our hearts and we want to please him instead of satisfying the desires of the flesh.
