Amen! Well said.Jesus did not come to fit anybody’s political category. Saying He “doesn’t have a conservative bone in His body” tells us more about modern politics than it does about Jesus.
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36). He called people to repent (Matthew 4:17), upheld marriage as God made it from the beginning, male and female (Matthew 19:4-6), warned repeatedly about judgment and hell (Matthew 10:28; 25:46), condemned sexual immorality as coming from the evil of the human heart (Mark 7:21-23), and said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
At the same time, He commanded us to love our neighbor, care for the needy, show mercy, forgive, and treat others as we would want to be treated. None of that makes Him a modern political liberal either.
The real question is not whether Jesus was conservative or liberal. The question is whether our beliefs line up with what He actually taught. Jesus is Lord. We do not get to reshape Him to fit our politics. We bring our politics, our opinions, and ourselves under His Word.
With the Love in Christ Jesus.
