Country and Southern Gospel and the old hymns. I like some praise and worship but not into mantras.

Praise and worship, music of course.

I like some praise and worship but not into mantras

I've never heard of christian mantras, I've always seen it in New age section, or spiritual enlightening.

Praise & Worship for this guy

I love Praise & Worship. One of my all time favorites is "Knowing You (All I Once Held Dear)" performed by Bishop Joseph Garlington. The man can both preach and sing!

A mantra is basically a vain repetition of the same phrase. I have heard some some CCM songs over the years that I would classify as a mantra.

For the rappers among us I tried my hand at it. I'm no Marky Mark but some folks like them.

Aug 27, 1991 The Flavor Rap

You think I'm a white boy and I ain't got no soul.
I'm here to tell you, Baby, that just ain't so!
Don't worry about what flavor I am,
Just chill out, Honey and listen to me jam.

There's lots of neighbors in my neighborhood.
I treat 'em like Mr. Rogers said I should.
So don't give me any of that racial flap,
Just sit down and listen to the Flavor Rap!
(The Flavor Rap, yes , the Flavor Rap!)

Ice cream has flavors and we think it's cool.
People come in flavors, too, so don't be a fool!
Enjoy everyone for just what they are
And progress towards peace will go real far.

Lin Chiu loves country music, though he has almond eyes.
He loves to hoedown with the rest of the guys.
He taught me how to eat with those wild chopsticks.
I taught him the way Old Willie Nelson picks!

Chico's from Juarez with skin of brown,
But he's the hottest rock and roller in our town.
I threw a party. He brought a pinyata.
Now folks, that's gettin' along the way we oughta!

Dancin' Wolf's, a man with skin of red.
His motto is, "Hey, better red than dead."
He can do a dance that'll make the rain to pour.
His '57 Chevy gives out a mellow roar.

(The Flavor Rap, yes, the Flavor Rap)

Alphonse is my homey, the blood from the hood.
He studied everyday like he knew he should.
At sports, my man, he ain't nothing great,
But he's makin' millions sellin' real estate!

This old land's the meltin' pot, you know,
So man, wake up, don't be so slow!
Love your brother, do it often.
Stick that prejudice in some old coffin!

This song won't make rich, this I confess.
Just listen to the message, that's what's fresh!
If someone gives you some sorry racial flap,
Sit 'em on down and sing the Flavor Rap!

(Yes, the Flavor Rap, Don't give me no jive flap!
We're all one family, so get with it, Jack! The Flavor RAP!!)

One I compsed for my co-worker after a political discussion.

Because of my race some call me a Honky.
When it comes to politics I certainly ain't no donkey
But doncha try to tell me that I came from a monkey
Cuz I'll jump in your face and I'll get real funky!

Word to your Mama!!

I guess you might say that I like most music. What I can't stand is rap.As far as I'mconcerned it's just a big noise with no purpose or reason.

Rap done correctly is only verse put to a beat like any other song. The way that beat is used is normally with bad lyrics or with a bad attitude.

I like Southern Gospel, but I like Praise & Worship and Third Day too. In fact, I still love George Jones.

I voted for praise and worship, although I also like most of the other types of music in the poll. But that's what I'd pick if I had to pick just one type.

There's no such thing as Christian music only Christian lyrics. For me, at least...

It doesn't really matter, as long as we worship in spirit and in truth.

Rock and some metal.
Though I must say that very few bands from those I listen to are Christian. Good Christian bands are rather difficult to find here :/ But I don't really mind that, because what matters to me is the music and not the lyrics, which I don't even pay much attention to. (I won't choose to listen to songs with anti-Christian lyrics, but I can enjoy songs even when they don't bear any Christian message in their lyrics.)

Any suggestions for good Christian metal or rock bands that are findable on the internet to listen to? (because in shops they most likely won't be to find here, plus I wouldn't probably give 500 Kr. for a CD anyway.)
I know from Christian bands of these genres only dc Talk, East West, Amy Grant, Virgin Black and a few songs by some others... And I enjoy music that is "weird"/not mainstream-ish... Please let me know if some of you have some ideas and tips for me =)

I chose praise & worship, but I love all kinds of "praise" music. I love southern gospel, i.e. Howard & Vestal Goodman, Gaither's, etc.

I also have a passion for the old-time church hymns..."He Set Me Free", Power In The Blood", etc. A Lot of great truths in these & others.

WONDERFUL FOR THE SOUL!!

God bless,

Titus 2:13 (NKJV)- "...looking for the blessed hope & glorious appearing of our great God & Savior Jesus Christ,..."

My Grandma Minnie had a lot of Country gospel records, so those were the first ones I had ever heard.

I guess I love the country gospel, Christian rock, and praise/worship type of Christian music.
