When did the Norse name "Hell" first show up in the Bible?

You're a false prophet
you're not qualified to discern a true or false prophet. although, you are mentioned in Jude 12-13:

12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

@B-A-C In your extensive research, what can you tell us about when the Old Enlgish or Old Norse name 'Hell', was first used in translations of the Bible?

Surely you jest sir! You do not know me, you've never met me, you know nothing about my spiritual state nor any other state I'm in. You shoot your 'mouth' off and sound like a total idiot, talking about things you know nothing about...You prophesy hell on those who call you out and pass judgment on those who agree with you. That makes you a foolish man sir. Its very obvious that you are one of those so called Christians who does not know Jesus and are acting the part, and doing it very badly....Personally I feel its time you left this group. You're toxic

I know exactly who you are, the 'man of lawlessness', the old man Adam. you speak as him because you are him. all you antichrist's are the same.
just call me the anti-antichrist.

You prove my point...
you're on the run and have no point.
your male ego is afraid, you've been caught with your pants down, and now your left alone with your monkey mind and no where to go, so you resort to ad hominem and non sequiturs.
you type of christians make me vomit, saith the Lord.

None of the words in our English Bible were originally in Hebrew or Greek.
Well... the word Christ is... It's merely a transliteration of the Greek word Christ (Χριστός) into English letters.

Thanks,
Rhema

I think the Hebrew word Amen is as well.
And the Chaldean "Maranatha" (cf. 1Co 16:22)
A few of the Aramaic utterances from the crucifixion...

The body returned to dust, and the Spirit returned to God.

Yes, but "when" does it return.

John 5:28; "Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,
John 5:29; and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

Rev 20:11; Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.
Rev 20:12; And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
Rev 20:13; And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

John 6:39; "This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.
John 6:40; "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
John 6:44; "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.
John 6:54; "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

John 11:24; Martha *said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."

I presume you mean the Lazarus from Luke 16... and that would be an allegory. (Although I know others believe differently.)

Allegory or not, it is still the truth.

@Waggles never said that.

Uh... I'd love to see some kind of proof (scripture?) for that claim.

Thanks,
Rhema
he has no proof, and i wont cast my pearls of what scriptures do reveal they are equivalent. the problem is and always has been, the carnal, monkey-minded, unspiritual interpretations.

Yes, but "when" does it return.
According to the OT... at death.

From an OT Jewish perspective, YOU = SOUL = BODY + SPIRIT

From a Hellenistic Jewish perspective YOU = BODY + SOUL + SPIRIT.

The OT does not have any provision for the Individuated Sentient Consciousness after death.
The Sadducees believed this. The Pharisees did not.

It would seem that Jesus believed both. That the YOU (as an Individuated Sentient Consciousness) could and would be Resurrected.

The map is not the terrain. And spiritual truth is not scientific truth.

How you doing, Wings?

Long time no see....

I realize you are new to this forum. The moderators are quite strict about "banter" and would erase all these posts of inter-member conversation if discovered and likely institute a three day ban (depending upon the moderator). I would rather not be "dinged" over this.

I said what I said, and I meant what I said. We truly need to return to the OP.

Thanks,

Rhema

so far, no one has offered when the pagan, norse name 'Hell' was first used in Bibles.
The OP states it of course.

Truth does not fear investigation.

Hello @Admon Mikhae'el, :)

The translators chose the best word at their disposal to translate Sheol, Hades and Gehenna, and that was the middle English word 'hell', which means 'to hide away': which best described the grave, or the place of the dead. For although Gehenna is the only one of those words that refers to fire, it is nevertheless the place where the dead are deposited in the judgment of the end of the age, so it too, is the place of the dead. It is man which has corrupted it by misuse.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
"best described the grave" - based on whose assessment?
Based on Rev 3:1, the dead church is the place of the dead.
Like the current state of 'christianity'.
