I read the Bible (NIV) frequently to see if I am missing anything, but each time I read it, it only confirms my opinions. Even if a god does exist I don't think the one featured in the Bible is it, or credible. As for Jesus, I think he was as human as the rest of us with faults and failings, if the Biblical description of what he got up to had any credence. I certainly don't believe the virgin birth, the miracles or the resurrection to be factual, but then a lot of Christians don't either.

If you go into it with preconceived notions it is guaranteed that you will find what you are looking for and not what is being communicated. Seeing that you have not posed any questions to see if maybe someone else might help you understand it. Only confirms the preconceived notions you have. Example: With no other evidence except for your horrific childhood (previously mentioned by me as well) you've relegated Jesus to just like you and me. Islam, Judaism and other religions do the same. They grant him teacher, prophet, demon possessed level of acceptance. While stating that the evidential/credential parts within the Bible of Jesus' God Hood are tossed aside as lies, fantasy, distortions etc. Neglecting the very words He spoke, and actions backing them up that show that He is either who He claims to be or someone with delusions of grandeur. Addressing neither with a honest desire of its possibility will get you nothing.

Opinion in face of evidence presented and rejected. Only speaks of a child holding onto what has comforted them to this time in life. The sad part of all this is. You have not changed or allowed yourself to open yourself up to the possibility of change in your previous appearances here at Talk Jesus. Which makes further conversation in this appearance even more fruitless for all concerned.

None here want to toss pearls before swine. They truly desire to help and assist one who is seeking. Since you are unable or unwilling to set aside what happened to you as a child. Your next post is the last opportunity for you to say your piece and go, not to nothingness, because you've already experienced "spirits" in the farmhouse you lived in; but maybe even to that darkness you expect (hopefully not for some time). For my hope is that if not now, but in another future to a differently called member here at TJ who will have put aside the past and will have opened themselves up giving and receiving a dialogue leading to a bright future that is only found through Jesus Christ.

I, as well, had some very poor role models for what a Christian should be like. So, rather than let them shape my image of God/Christ for me, I chose to find out the truth starting at the age of 7, and I have been a seeker of truth since then. I am also 65 (soon to be 66). I let God teach me who he is, and I listened to him speak his words to my heart, not the words of humans who were speaking from their own heads, though early on I did have a wonderful pastor who loved the Lord and lived the Christian life and taught the Word of God, so I was very blessed in that way. If someone tried to discourage me from seeking after the truth, I didn't let them. I didn't accept that I was just to believe that our denomination believed such and such. I wanted to know what God's word said. And, I learned that some of the things I had been taught were wrong. But, I was taught a lot of truth in my church in my younger years. Not too many churches teaching the true gospel these days. It is very sad.

Both these posts contain testimonies of experiencing the truth of the gospel and of Jesus himself.
You are either in denial, or too lazy to read what others have gone to the trouble of posting, given your challenge in creating this thread.
Go back to my post #16 and allow yourself to be challenged by the power and truth of the gospel and of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said: "These signs shall follow them that believe..." - you have no answer and no ability to deny this, other than just simply your own unbelief.

It's "no wonder"? Sorry, but you have only had a taste of religion. Jesus didn't come to establish a religion. Religion is unpleasant and certainly not what man is created for. He is alive, and desires a personal relationship with you.

You were created for God, and you are first and foremost a spiritual creature who has a mind, and who lives in a physical body. God is the center of all things, and He deserves to be given the center of your existence. With that comes great blessing and benefit in this life, and entrance into His family and His eternal kingdom...because in Jesus Christ we are made complete. apart from Him, there will always be something missing in your life that you will perpetually be looking to fill.
