Revelation 17:1-13 (NKJV) Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication."
So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness.

And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

PERHAPS the woman was those who were born holy by the Spirit of Christ in them toward the end of the Roman Empire that were non-repentant believers and unbelievers living as part of the world by entertaining the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eye, and the pride of life. In previous years, they were a beast by being born into the world without the Spirit of Christ, that is not a beast by being born again into the world out of the "pit" with the Spirit of Christ in them, and yet was a beast by continuing to follow the ways of the sinful world, even though they had the right to become a child of God by having the Spirit of Christ within them. These verses appear to reveal the woman as that great city, the holy Jerusalem, the bride of Christ. The six kingdoms at the time of the prophecy were: 1) Egypt, 2) Assyria, 3) Babylon, 4) Medes/Persians, 5) Greece, 6) Rome, 7) Christendom for a short while in the Roman Empire, that became the 8) Roman Catholic Church under the papacy and his hierarchy of priests who changed times and laws back to Law-like doctrine to peacefully "destroy" the overspreading of abominations of the holy people that were living in sin as part of the world. Under the Roman Catholic Church the rest of those who were spiritually dead in trespasses and sins were not born again by the grace of God for their faith for 1000 years because of following the Law-like doctrine. This was until the time of the reformation when the beast of the Roman Catholic Church was wounded by the sword of the word of God, but has since recovered, but does not have the same world wide authority and power over royalty and countries as it did through the medieval years, but became part of the second beast. This is what we believe happened.
The Law-like doctrine that was added by the Roman Catholic Church after 434 years after the coming of Christ was for the purpose of containing the overspreading of abominations,.........is comparable to the Mosaic Law being added 430 years after the covenant of faith between God and Abraham that was added for the purpose of containing the transgressions of the people. This is what we currently believe happened by the prophecy in Daniel 7-9, 12, but is open to correction.
