Why are there so many denominations in Christianity?

I am Catholic like my mother but my father is Presbyterian. I think there are so many branches because people like to pick and choose. It's not always a bad thing though.

Jesus spoke AGAINST sectarianism because it is divisive to the Body of Christ and sets people at variance, thereby destroying unity.

We were not intended to have such choices. Churches are intended to be formed by people in their locality, to come together to fellowship, worship God, minister to one another and serve their communities.

There is ONE GOD
There is ONE SAVIOR
There is ONE WRITTEN WORD

Which means there is one way for His creation to dwell in this land....His Way !!!
It is man who has devised all these doctrines and denominations and religious beliefs
We are the body and Should be in unity of His word and ways.
God Bless

We were not intended to have such choices? Perhaps what you mean is God never wanted anyone to choose the wrong way even though He knew that they would. That also was a part of God's plan from before the foundation of the Earth or the earth, was it not? Was or is God's plan flawed? Did God's plan not make provision for those that would choose the wrong way?

There is ONE GOD

OK.

There is ONE SAVIOR

OK.

There is ONE WRITTEN WORD

Where does the word "written" come into the picture? If we are not speaking about what is written in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, what can it mean? If surely cannot mean one of the dozens of Bible translations, can it? What translations were available to people when Jesus said,

"...It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matt 4:4.

Jesus used that phrase " it is written" several times in the written gospels, but what did he mean by it? What was he referring to?

Yes, if we were born as a part of his body it, then we should be in unity, but...

The "but" is that the Body of Christ does not appear to be ready yet. Not ready? Why? Perhaps because it is not completely subject to Jesus who is to be the Head of his Body at all times. The Head is ready. When the Body is ready then will we not see the unity of which you speak? Are there not parts of the Body, his Body, presently opposing each other vigorously rather than simply working to surrender more completely to the Head so that the Head can straighten things out?

It is also written, if everything had been written that Jesus did and spoke while He walked this earth that the earth would not be big enough to hold it all. It is also written, that He has more to tell us (His disciples) but we can not bare it now. Amen.
If we can not bare the simple, love God first and love others more than self, how can God give us more, least He destroy us ALL? God forbid. Lord have mercy on us all.

Not in Jesus' plan.

We are flawed, and troubled by carnal thinking...hence denominational rifts. That said, God is not deterred. He works in us and through us DESPITE the sectarianism.

Yes, in spite of sectarianism, but not in spite of our own quenching of His Spirit. We must allow Him to work in us.

When Solomon sinned greatly through his many wives God gave dominion over the land of the 10 tribes of the north to someone other than the son of Solomon. God's purpose was not to divide His people spiritually, but only politically and economically. The first king of north, Jeroboam, anointed by God's prophet, for selfish reasons went against God causing also a spiritual division. This is how people have been too frequently doing things ever since up to and including in the churches bearing the label of Christianity today.
