Why do we continually struggle with the same sin (even though desperately wanting change)?

I understand very well what you are saying. You put it well.

The issue i am talking about is an issue i have noted and discussed it with other Christian friends and they too seemed to not know the exact answer.

There is a worship song called Healer. Find out the story of the man who wrote this song and you will understand what i am asking. Sad really.

I get what you are saying here. Sometimes God uses people who aren't right with Him.
I also think of well known pastors who have fallen. Jim Baker, Jimmy Swaggert, Ted Haggard, John G. Lake, Ray Boltz, and others.
But I think God used them in their time. And perhaps like David, if a time repentance has passed, perhaps God can and will
use them again.

On the other hand, there are some sermons, and even some "Christian worship" songs on the radio that are simply just
bad doctrine, whether they were written by "good Christians" or not.

It has even happened on occasion here on TalkJesus, people have tried to used song lyrics rather than scripture to prove a point of theology.

God works with His left hand as well as His right hand. When it comes down to the end of the matter for us, we most certainly want to be part of His right hand rather than His left:

"A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left." Ecc 10:2

"And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:" Matt 25:33-34

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:" Matt 25:41
