Will the Universe Roll Back Like a Scroll?

The launch of the James Web Telescope has demonstrated that current astronomy is definitely in need of revision. Before Web, about one-third of astronomers believed the universe will eventually recede back in on itself, while about two-thirds had other ideas. Today, the number believing in universal collapse may be closer to one-half.

Although the universe continues to expand, there is some indication this expansion might be slowing down. Web telescope has shown us that there are fully formed galaxies, some much larger than our own Milky Way, very close to the beginning of our current universe. This has led some astronomers, including British mathematician Roger Penrose, to propose we may be seeing galaxies in a former universe. And thus concluding, the universe has in the past and will continue, to expand and contract over and over again.

While this might sound rather high and mighty to some and preposterous to others, there is strong biblical backing for a cosmic reality such as this. In Isaiah 34:4 we find the following: "All the host of heaven shall be dissolved and the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll. All their host shall fall down as the leaf falls from the vine and as fruit falling from a fig tree."

According to Revelation 6:13-14, "And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place." "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away" Revelation 21:1. Note how closely both the Old and New Testament agree.

The claim of the stars falling to the earth was once mocked by intellectuals. But according to modern science, if the universe receded back in on itself, from a view standing upon earth, the stars would literally appear to fall towards the earth. Also, while universal expansion may take a long time, universal recession may move much faster. Romans 9:28 says, God "will make a short work" upon the earth. Some scientists believe the universe is unstable and could collapse at any moment.

Many other things foretold in Revelation ring true today, including the prediction of a large space object striking the earth and polluting fresh water, the apparent prediction of a nuclear blast or large volcanic eruption creating havoc for ships and sea life, the sun, moon and stars going dark (apparently as a result), the rise of a most deceptive and wicked individual who will control the earth's monetary system and agreeing with climate change science, the vanishing of much of the earth's green plant life, as well as much more. See for yourself in "Revelation".
