John 1:1 Explanation

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Most assume because Word was God that Word is God. Many use John 1:14 to validate.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

This is fallacy. The two preceding verses John 1:2 and John 1:3 explain John 1:1

John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Joh 1:2 validates “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,”

Joh 1:3 validates why the word was God “All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.”

1Co 8:6 explains that all things are of or Authorized of God; and that all things are by or thru the word “showing distinction”

1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Hebrews verse 1 and 2 clarify that distinction more

Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

If you have gotten this far then I must be Antichrist, Heathen, and speaking Blasphemy.

“The Word is God end of story John said so!!!”

But what did John say?

John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

“Ok The word is many things that still does not mean The Word is not God”

16 scriptures above John said;

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

I will end with this verse

2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

@Bendito as I talked about however I did feel like I had to add some Hebrews and Corinthians for further clarification.

If I didn't know better.... You accuse everybody who disagrees with you of twisting; misqouting; or misunderstanding the Word. Meanwhile you're spouting complete nonsense. Wise in your own conceits

@Bendito perhaps. Luckily I have expectations "faith" that more than likely you will try to expose or rebuke me . I do believe I am getting better at laying out my premises.

You are getting better at laying out your premise. Better though that your premises were based on truth. You need to work on that. A good argument is not just smooth words. You need the true facts for those words to carry any weight

@Bendito More than likely if it was not based on truth you would do your best to tear it apart. A good argument is 100% based on truth and facts. Not asking you this question but I do wonder if you are getting anything out of this side stepping banter. Unless I see you legitimately, trying to tear apart this post with comprehensive scripture then I will be towards you in this post from now on:shades:

Truthfully, I'm getting tired of discussing things with you because you always want to argue. I hate arguing. I share the truth of the Word and if you don't want to learn, its your choice.

No worries. I also expected such answer. Whether I had used scripture or not this would have been the end result. But the fact of the matter is I did use scripture and hope you can appreciate that fact "whether i am wrong or right". Of course since you disagree with me I expect you to believe i am wrong. That is not unreasonable because one cannot expect to pour new wine into old wine skins or fill a cup that is already filled after all. May you be blessed in your studies:smile:

P.S. Scripturally the problem does not seem to be calling Jesus God; The problem seems to be understanding that he his not our God and he is not the only true God. Other problem is conforming the words of Christ to Paul instead of conforming the words of Paul to Christ. "Just my observations in general"

2 Peter 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
2 Peter 3: 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Most assume because Word was God that Word is God.
Your understanding of spiritual things is non existent. Because you do not believe in the "virgin birth" that has contaminated everything else you are trying to understand. You can live until the day you die and never come to the knowledge of the truth until you repent and get saved!! Not only was the Word with God, the Word was also God. Not knowing God and trying to use intellectual analytical reasoning you will never understand anything spiritual because only God the Word can reveal these things, which means you will never get that because God is the Word in which you do not believe.

In all your conclusions you have come up with on this forum, this is the only one you have gotten right!!!

@Curtis
Perhaps but fortunately for me i agree with John.

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Perhaps but fortunately I agree with Christ

John 17:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
17 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

John 20:16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Revelation 3:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

There are millions of people who agree with the scriptures, but that does not mean they know the God that spoke scriptures. Knowledge with out revelation is completely useless,

@Curtis your words sound pretty; to avoid contention i will take a neutral stance but i will say this. "Knowledge without Application is useless" Know if you have nothing

The same thing i said to Bendito I will say to you.

Unless I see you legitimately, trying to tear apart this post with comprehensive scripture then I will be towards you in this post from now on:shades:

Curtis A text without a context is a pretext...a lie. I'm not saying our friend is lying but he is certainly believing lies....Lets let it be.

He does not believe in the virgin birth, and he is teaching that Joseph was Jesus father, that makes him "Antichrist". He does not believe that the Word of God is God, that is completely against sound doctrine. Do we want the Devil to have free reign on this forum, or are we suppose to expose the unfruitful works of darkness? If we don't stand up for the Word of God who will?

Never said I do not believe in the virgin or almah birth.
I do however not believe in any immaculate conception.
If showing or explaining Joseph is the father according to the flesh makes me an Antichrist in your eyes then i think i can live with that.
no comment on your Devi remark though

You mean the "virgin" birth? Jesus had no earthly Father, which why he was the Son of God, which means Jesus was God in the flesh!! Which means you are Antichrist!!

You are Antichrist, and this forum is for Christians who believe in the virgin birth, and that Jesus is God, and was the Son of God while living in his earthly body. These are the very fundamentals of Christianity which you are not apart of.
I will resist you as you do not know truth, as there is no truth in you. We are not ignorant of the devil devises that he uses to try and corrupt God's teaching.
