Fragrant Grace said in the last sentence of #57:
It needs to be grasped verse by verse.
Revelation is truly symbolic. As many are finding there, it’s a multidimensional book and each time it’s read by a person and persons, new information is revealed. This is what causes the ‘Confusion’ that is talked of by posters in this thread: some are trying to read it as though it were a linear story book.
In fact, it is not even ‘chapter —> next chapter’ absolute.
The true interpretation is given to whom God ALLOWS it to be interpreted by... the first thing is not to think of yourself as THE GOD GIVEN INTERPRETER but pray only that God should use you to be so... and if not then do not be annoyed [At God??!!!]
The quote from Fragrant Grace, above, illustrates how easy it is to bring a wrongful mind to interpretation (the quote.. not Fragrant Grace!) in that I had a thread concerning the word ‘Grasp’ and what it meant. Nearly everyone claimed (kind of) that it meant:
whereas, I said it meant:
- ‘Reach out to [try to] take hold of’
Now, take that quote from FG and see which meaning fits. Is it:
- “It needs to be [Held on to] verse by verse.” ... or
- “It needs to be [reached out to try to take hold of] verse by verse.”
For me, clearly 2. is correct. One cannot ‘hold onto’ something that has not yet been taken hold of.
Why does this example matter? Because Revelation will throw MANY COMPLICATED curve-balls at you which, if you HOLD ON TO preconceived ideologies, then you will fall into deep dark holes of confusions and misconceptions.
As is said on the game show, ‘Catchphrase’ (do you have it outside the UK?) ... ‘Say what you see’ (not what YOU are TOLD to say’.
In other words, interpretation is not based on preconceived ideology...:
- Who is speaking to whom
- What is doing what
- When is what being done to whom
- Whom is doing what to whom
- Define whom and do not mingle ideas
- Compile who speaks what
- There are hierarchies of persons - list them and reference them back up this list of bullet points
- Reference Torah (O.T.) text for support
At the risk of critical and being called hypocrite, I will give one hint at something crucial:
- In the O.T. Almighty God is called ‘Lord’... he is ‘First and Last’... he is the israelite’s ONLY GOD... their RULER
- In the N.T. this Almighty God GIVES HIS POWER AND AUTHORITY to ‘his Son’ ... so this Son is now ‘Lord’...
- There are not TWO ‘Lords’... The ‘Lordship’ has been DELEGATED to the Son
- With regard to Almighty God, Acts 2:36 says:
- “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah."
I say these things to help dispel the idea that Jesus, the Son is Almighty God.. this will, if accepted, will aid in your understanding of your compiled lists as bullet pointed.... otherwise you will continually and everlastingly claim tat Revelation is ‘Confusing’.
