Demons

Actually, I was depressed at one point due to a spiritual attack. It was right when I started my walk with God and was spreading the word. I have never been depressed before that, and it took me a while to get out of it. I was living a happy life, I had no reason to be like that. Depression can most definitley be caused by evil bringing it on you. Anytime you are going through that, SpreadtheWord, open up your Bible and start reading Psalms. I promise that will calm your heart and comfort you. Call out to Jesus and He will come.

Me too....I was depressed once before as well. It was during a rough time in my life. But I really made a point to stick by to God. He really showed me the way and I made it through.

With God all things are possible! Right?

Satan will use any way possible to get us down. If the door is open just a little, he will definitely try to put his foot in the door and destroy you. That's why it's important that we are mindful of what we do and think everyday.

We have to imitate Christ.

Blessings,
monkeys

Oppression from demons seems fairly common in Christians' lives. Possession? Well, that I don't know. Doesn't seem possible that a demon and Jesus' Spirit could live in the same body/heart/mind.

However, oppression (outside of the believer, trying to coax, convince, discourage, tempt, etc.) is common. Other believers have told me hundreds of times about these instances. And I experience them myself.

Jesus told Peter, "satan, get thee behind me," probably because satan was taunting Peter to say the things he was saying. Jesus was trying to get Peter to see the truth of how He was going to die for our sins. But Peter was listening to a liar, and repeating the words out loud to our Savior.

Are we above the disciple, Peter? Are we too good for satan to mark us as prey? The enemy does prey upon us. He hates us with venom, especially on the day we received Christ as our Lord and Savior and all the days following!

Jesus reigns. Resist the devil, submit to God, and the enemy will flee from you.

Does anyone have any info about demons causing pure fear in people? Last night i was attacked before i went to bed. I was filled with fear, thought i was seeing things and hearing things, i could not think straight. Biggest problem was that i could not even focus on God. I prayed as much as i could but my faith lacks much. Woke up in the middle of the night sweating hot one minute then cold the next. Couldnt sleep the rest of the night. I could use prayers and any info on this matter, Thanks.

In the name of Jesus. I take authority over you, you spirit of fear. I command you release your hold on him. In the mighty name of Jesus.

I believe in both oppression and possession. I thought before that once you were a Christian you got free from all the demons in you.

I was at the time spirit filled, received the baptism of the holy spirit with tongues and everything. Wasn't until 2 years later that a speaker at a conference I attended, did a mass prayer of deliverance. I experience something come out of my side. It felt like it was attached to me and it tried to hold on but couldn't. I didnt scream or anything and it wasn't painful but after that I believed in possession.

This is a part of subject if you want to read all of it you will find it at gotquestions.org under the title of:
Question: "What does the Bible say about demon possession / demonic possession? Is it still possible today? If so, what are the symptoms?"

Concerning the involvement of demons in the lives of Christians, the apostle Peter is an illustration of the fact that a believer can be INFLUENCED by the devil (Matthew 16:23). Some refer to Christians who are under a STRONG demonic influence as being “demonized,” but never is there an example in Scripture of a believer in Christ being POSSESSED by a demon, and most theologians believe that a Christian CANNOT be possessed because he has the Holy Spirit abiding within (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19).

We are not told exactly how one opens himself up for possession. If Judas’ case is representative, he opened his heart to evil (in his case by his greed - John 12:6). So it may be possible that if one allows his heart to be ruled by some habitual sin...it becomes an invitation for a demon to enter in. From missionary experiences, demon possession also seems to be related to the worship of heathen idols and the possession of occult materials. Scripture repeatedly relates idol worship with the actual worship of demons (Leviticus 17:7; Deuteronomy 32:17; Psalm 106:37; 1 Corinthians 10:20), so it should not be surprising that involvement with those religions and practices associated with those religions could lead to demon possession.

Thus, it is my belief based on the above Scriptural passages as well as some of the experiences of missionaries that many people open their lives up to demon involvement through the embracing of some sin or through cultic involvement (both knowingly and unknowingly). Examples may include immorality; drug/alcohol abuse...as these alter one’s state of consciousness; rebellion; bitterness; transcendental meditation. In our western culture, we see an increase of eastern religious teachings under the guise of the new age movement.

There is something that must not be forgotten. Satan and his evil host cannot do anything the Lord does not allow them to do (Job 1,2). And this being the case, Satan, thinking he is accomplishing his own purposes, is actually accomplishing God’s good purposes...even as in the case of Judas’ betrayal. Some people develop an unhealthy fascination with the occult and demonic activity. This is unwise and unbiblical. If we pursue God with our lives and are clothing ourselves with His armor and relying upon His strength (not our own) (Ephesians 6:10-18), we have nothing to fear from the evil ones, for God rules over all!

That's quite a common experience for many people. I've had it myself many years ago. When the sense of fear or whatever comes on you suddenly and for now apparent reason it usually safe to say it's a demonic spirit.

I remember my experience it was usually in the early hours when I was in bed. The sense of fear was so bad I couldn't speak or pray for a while, it was real effort just to say Jesus. The only real answer is to get into the Word and find all the reasons a Christian shouldn't be afraid. Being in Christ is a major reason. There are about 134 in Christ, in whom and in Him scriptures in the the Apostle Paul's letters alone. Then there's the like of, God has not given you a spirit of fear but a spirit of love... and the Lord is my helper I will not be afraid... and Psalm 91 etc. You can then use the scriptures as a weapon against the devil when he comes against you.
A booklet by Kenneth E Hagin called, ' The Authority of a Believer,' has helped many with these sorts of problems.

The main thing though is to be established in Christ to the point where you really know and believe it, then the devil will be afraid and need protection from you:shade:

Joshua 1:9
This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Proverbs 3:25-26
25 You need not be afraid of sudden disaster
or the destruction that comes upon the wicked,
26 for the Lord is your security.
He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.

Psalm 34:4
I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.

Re: The devil should need protection from you

The devil and his demons really love our emotions. They truly enjoy "pushing your buttons." If you let them, they'll behave like spoiled little kids at the control panel in an elevator; they'll have you going up-and-down emotionally whenever they want to.

You lost control of the situation when you let the enemy take control of your emotions. You were begging God to send him packing and God was saying "Send him packing yourself. You have the power."

James wrote: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and HE WILL FLEE from you" (Jas 4:7). Remember Hebrews 11:1: "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (understand)." To be "sure" and "certain" means that we have decided to believe and we're not going to let go of that decision. It means that we refuse to let doubt take root in our hearts. It means we can look the enemy in the eye, so to speak, and tell him "In the name of Jesus, I command you to leave NOW!"

He'll probably put up a fight, but, he will leave because he has to. He has no choice.

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and HE WILL FLEE from you" James 4:7

And in doing this, we use our will to choose to follow GOD by resisting the devil. This is a way of proving our love for Christ and willing to follow Him. Otherwise, we are simply rejecting His ways the same way Adam & Eve first done so (The Fall)

Have yall ever experience when your dog bark at a wall? That a sign that there a demon and I know someome who had that problem there beacuse the would bark all night so she had a prayer meeting and that she found out that there a demon in her house so she had a prayer meeting and then the dog dose not bark at the wall no and animals can be effected by demons also I know Psalm 91 is a promise word like if I read it could scared demons away:shade:

This is a great post thankyou Chad! It concerns me when and if I willfully sin for a period of time and worry that it means I'm rejecting God for good, especially since I have been 'enlightened' and baptised etc. However nothing can separate us from the love of God. I realise everyday we must put the armour of God on and resist temptation daily. When I have willfully sinned for a time, such as peeking at astrology books over a year, then I notice I get demonically attacked soon after. Lord please help me to stand up stronger to long-standing sins which may tempt me in difficult times and instead may I trust totally in You. In Jesus' name.

Stylez,
If you are a believer in Christ, then its very likeley that there is demonic activity around you. First, remember that they are afraid of you. You have no reason to be afraid of the fallen angels. Any thing in the Word of God is a good response to evil, as our Lord Jesus set the example when He was tempted in the wilderness by Satan. Also, remember that, if you are a true believerin the Lord, you have the authority to tell demons to leave in Jesus' name, and they have to flee. Will they come back? If you let them. Give the devil and his angels no place in your life that they might develop a stronghold. Through Jesus Christ, you have power and authority over them. I'll be praying for you.

This thread is a blessing...

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT DEMONS?

Demons can attack with no sin involved on the victims' part as in the case of children. The sins of the fathers bring a curse, and there is a "chain of iniquity" that needs to be broken. "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments" (Exodus 20:5-6).

Though not always:

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
(Joh 9:1-3)

Good article!

Please pray for me Brothers and Sisters, I experienced a very evil thing earlier today! Long story short, I've been draining the Spirit, and I gave into myself, and the devil, again and sinned. Well, I felt something really wrong, and later on that night, I think it was 3 or 4 AM sometime, I was watching something and I got up and changed it and went to sit back down, and when I did, I heard whispering...It was slow at first, and I didn't understand what was happening and I heard 'something' whisper my name.

I've heard the Lord speak to me in an audible voice before, as we all know is possible, and we also know that demons and satan himself can speak to you. When I heard it I INSTANTLY knew WITHOUT A DOUBT that that most definitely was not from God.

I felt myself being attacked, but I also felt unbelievable strength, and I went into my mom unstable and crying, because I really couldn't believe what had just happened, I STILL CANT BELIEVE IT! My mother prayed for me, then we prayed together, and I prayed more, read the Bible, and prayed even more and I took authority over that evil spirit, whether it was the devil himself or his minion. My faith has been restored fully and now I have absolutely no doubt in me, I feel stronger than ever because of this experience as evil as it was. But, like Mike stated, they can come back, so please help me with this. I am not lying and I know what I heard it was a very clear audible voice, and it had a very evil presence.

Yeah; once I woke up at 3:28 a.m. and all of a sudden felt this very evil presence surrounding me; it started putting in my head blasphemies and curses. I just remember turning to my bible and the moment I opened it, the evil went away. Another time I heard what sounded like a loud bang wake me up -_- One time (during the time I had been astray) I felt something evil entering me, and I just remember saying "Lord, please help me! I want this evil gone!" or something like that; I felt my entire body surge for a few seconds; I literally couldn't move for 3 seconds. I think that was my wake-up call that I needed to turn back to God.

And another time, I was having a dream (or actually a nightmare) where this guy at the end was growling really low and it ended in a very high pitched screech. I woke up and just asked God for His protection; I felt this tingling feeling go through my body; as if God was putting His arms around me.

late night encounters with evil

One of my favorite stories from the life of that great man of God, Smith Wigglesworth, is when he was awakened in the middle of the night by loud raucus downstairs. He got up and went down to see what was going on. There, he stood face-to-face with Satan (NOT a demon, but the "prince of the airs" himself). Now, remember that Lucifer was the most beautiful angel God created, and the Bible says nothing at all about his appearance changing. In fact, it says that he appears as "an angel of light". Really, if he looked anything like what most people picture the devil, could he seduce anyone? So, Smith was face-to-face with Satan in all of his glory and splendor in appearance. The devil had been tearing Smith's living room apart to try to rob the man of peace. Smith Wigglesworth recognized the devil. The devil stood looking at him. Then Smith said:" Oh, it's just you." And the man went back to bed! True story!
