Hey,
I'm not going to say that there is no harm that comes from drinking. There are lots of people who struggle with it everyday. No doubt about it. BUT! Conversely, by having ONE drink does
not automatically mean you are a drunkard. How do I know this? Easy. Last Saturday, I had a beer at a friend's house, and left his home sober. Don't confuse one with the other.
If Jesus drank (wine, presumably) at weddings, presumably not to get drunk then where in the Bible does it say point blank - not your iinterpretation "DO NOT DRINK". I'm not talking about getting drunk, just having a glass of wine.
I'm not sitting here saying that everyone's opinion should run linear with mine, absolutely not. Conversely, you should respect my POV.
If having a beer (or whatever) leads to a negative consequence, then why eat potato chips?
Eating potato chips leads to high sodium and cholesterol. That in turn leads to health concerns, some of which include depression, obesity, and even eventually death. So, if a potato chip can lead you down the beaten path, why have that?
I realize that the example is a stretch, and was solely intended as a metaphor - but anything you do can have a negative implication.
Listen, I'm not here to be the poster child for the benefits of alcohol, your decision is strictly between you and CHRIST. Not me, not your next door neighbour, noone.
Now, wait! Wasn't this post in the teen hangout? So, yes kiddies, if you're a teenager, don't drink, if anything, it's illegal.
What!!!! I'm shocked by what you said. Why do you give the devil a chance to tempt you and ruin your life?
OK you say that you don't see any harm in drinking, how do you feel when you drink and come to a state where you won't be knowing where you are? How will you feel when you lie down drunk on the streets.
How can you glorify God when you get drunk? If you say you can glorify God when your drunk, it is nothing but hypocrisy.
Please don't mind if I'm sounding harsh to you. It is for your good that I'm telling you.
The bible warns us to flee from drinking.
Ephesians 5:18: "And be not drunk with Wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"
Luke 21:34: “Watch out! Don’t let me find you living in careless ease and drunkenness, and filled with the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware.
Romans 13:13: We should be decent and true in everything we do, so that everyone can approve of our behavior. Don’t participate in wild parties and getting drunk, or in adultery and immoral living, or in fighting and jealousy.
1 Corinthians 5:11: What I meant was that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a Christian yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don’t even eat with such people.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10:
Verse 9on’t you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals,
Verse 10: thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers, none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God.
I may sound harsh to you, but it is for your good. My only advice is don't be a fool and compromise with sin. Please see these threads:
