False ways to be saved

I was about to post a new discussion about me seeking salvation because i'm confused but i found this thread and after reading just the 1st page this confirms as to the reason why i'm so damn confused.

I am sick and freaking tired of man saying this is how you get saved and no that is not it but this and no no no not that either but this and wait a minute you are wrong but it's like this and no you are all deceived it's like this, I don't just mean here but tons of sites and you tube videos, and the worst part of it all is that people usually have a verse to back up what ever false way that they are saying you must do or not do to be saved. Which is right???????. I am a man who wants to be saved but because of people like all of you and just about all of man i have been confused and hurt because i don't know what to believe in anymore, i think i've heard them all. Do you not realise that many and i mean many and i mean MANY will go to HELL and maybe including myself because of man and there false doctrines, and they all use scripture to back it up and so it makes it that much harder to know which is the true way. My goodness, how fine of a job satan has done to confuse the minds of perhaps billions upon billions to believe this or that. I honestly don't know what to do, my spirit has been beaten so damn much by all of this that if i myself can see it with my eyes it would probably be unrecognizable (not that i actually know what a spirit looks like since it's invisible). I honestly don't know where else to look, a part of me just feels like giving up because there seems like there is no hope with all these different doctrines based on how to get saved. I don't know how to get saved and because of man i will probably never know and go to hell. I mean for goodness sakes there are (according to wikipedia) an estimated "38,000 Christian denominations". and each probably have there own little way of how to be saved and the thing is that alot of em probably have a verse in the bible that they have misinterpreted that fits with there beliefs, and again i ask, which one is right? How divided the body of Christ is that it has been broken into an estimated 38,000 pieces. I can't even imagine Christ himself feels about this. Didn't Jesus say that He wanted his body to be united as one when He was praying to the Father in John 16 and not 38,000 different sections. As i said before i don't know what to do to be saved but o how much i wish i knew. I don't even want anyone to respond to this cause all anyone is going to do is tell me a way to be saved and back it up using scriptures, and perhaps it is the way but how would i know with all these false ways not letting me see the truth. I can't be beaten spiritually any more than what i truly am but my God i just want to be saved.

Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Some preach works, the wise man preaches the sufficiency of Love. True belief in Christ will always produce action and the works follow salvation, not vice-verse.

Tit 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Tit 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Tit 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
Tit 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

First the drawing, He causes you to will, then the leading where He causes you to do His good pleasure (Php 2:13) . So God calls us, draws us, cleanses us, empowers us, renews our mind and etc. Our job is simply to yield, to abide in Him and let the Spirit of God lead us into the life He wishes to impart.
Works are good but not he source of salvation.
Works are good, but they are His works through us not our own.
Php 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
If I die at any moment not having achieved perfection in the flesh, if I am the youngest babe in Christ, or the greatest Apostle to walk the earth; I still have but one leg to stand on and that the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

No matter what anyone tells you (including myself), salvation is by the power of Christ's personal self-revelation in his death on the cross. All you need to do is "to ask, seek, and knock" until you know the truth. Something will happen. It worked for me more than 35 years ago. It will for you too. Keep praying! Nothing pleases Christ more than his self-revelation to save. God bless you!

Hi Drake. I agree with Ephrem, all you need to do is keep asking and seeking. Most people think that Salvation is an event that happens at a fixed point in your life and from that point on your are "saved". But in reality, we need to keep seeking and asking for God's help our whole lives until we die. We are running a race and only God knows how it's going to finish, so just do your best, and he'll take care of the rest.

Someone from the Bible Society told me about their philosophy regarding doctrinal issues which was very helpful. Because they are an organisation which works with the whole spectrum of Christian groups, they try to stay neutral, and so they say "Let the Word Speak". It was very helpful to me, because it reminded me that instead of listening to the doctrines of men, I should be directly accountable to Jesus and his word. So I started looking for what it was that JESUS actually asked us (his followers) to do and then started trying to practice that. That helped me to get the focus off the question of "how do I get saved" onto the narrow "Way" of "what can I do to love God and my fellow man", which may actually have more to do with our salvation than we realise (Matt 25:31-46).

Good luck with the search. Love Beans.

With the exception of getting a message directly from God Himself in words that can be heard with the ear, the only place that anyone can get information to give to you Drake is from the Bible, right? Is there anywhere else that you know of that people claim to get information from God from? I, myself, know of none. So, even though a bunch of people from this forum can tell you what you need to do, you already know that you are going to get diverse answers and debates, correct? So, take the time to read it for yourself. Look up words in a dictionary that you don't know the meaning to and just ask God ( not man ) to help you to understand the things that He would have you to understand. The Bible teaches us to trust in God and not man, correct? So try taking the Bible for what it says to you. Let the Lord speak to you through His Word, not Charles Stanley, not John Calvin, not John MacArthur, and not Billy Graham.

Don't know exactly where to start when it comes to studying the Bible? I have found that it helps to have questions; you've got some questions, correct? Diligently look for those answers. In the process of looking for the answers to your questions you will find some answers and will discover new questions. You ever seen this verse:

John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

How do you interpret this verse? How literal do you take this verse? Do you believe this verse?

Of course Jesus was referencing something from the Old Testament but wouldn't you agree that it must be something that still applies to the people of today?

Good luck in your search, Drake. And remember that perseverance is involved in diligently seeking after something.

Are you a sinner?

Have you ever lied, cheated, stolen, obsessed over anything (which is idolatry), hated anyone enough that rage took over, do you covet anyone or anything. Is your sin exceedingly sinful? Do you loath yourself? Are you a wretched, no good for nothing who has made a total mess out of your life?

Well, Jesus is the only one who God has placed in the path between Him and sinful men. He is the price paid for salvation. So, we call out to Him. Cry out for His salvation, for that sin to be wiped away as if it never existed. Cry out to God and believe that He accepts that sacrifice from Jesus. Then accept that the price was paid in full.

All theology in the world will not save you. Take that paragraph you poured out on this board, and go straight to Jesus. Tell Him all about what you said here. Ask Him for forgiveness so you can be redeemed back to the Father.

Search deep and find the specific sin that is there. Ask Him to show you that specific thing that will be the catalyst for true repentance. If there isn't tears, friend, then you have not found Him.

Michelle, while you make some very valid and important points, I still think you are focusing on the wrong issue. I'm pretty sure that Drake has heard the usual "Salvation" message and the problem is that it does not satisfy him! By all means Drake, read, read and read the Bible and diligently search out your answers, BUT what I would like to suggest is that part of finding the peace of salvation is found in "putting your hands to your prayers". Most people quote Ephesians 2:8-9, when preaching the salvation message, butt if you look at verse 10, you will see an aspect of salvation that is often overlooked.

So yes we are saved by grace, but the Lord does have a plan for us and he wants us to walk in his plan. So find out how you fit in with HIS plan, and you will be walking in your salvation!

I suggest you read Matthew, chapters 5,6, and 7 to get a good idea of HOW to walk.

Regards. Beans

Drake was talking the "how to" for salvation. The only "how to" is to see our own sin as being exceedingly sinful, and knowing there is nothing that can be done about it by anyone else or ourselves. No amount of theology will get him there. No amount of checklists etc. Only coming to the Father in repentance of that sin. Most of the time, it has to be a single catalyst that shows how wicked the heart really is. Then that repentance is unto salvation when the faith to believe is applied that Jesus paid the price for salvation.

Grace must be preached, but first of all the person must be convinced that grace is needed.

As for walking in salvation, and Eph 2:10, the thread "is it by faith alone" explains that fairly well. Salvation has to be had before someone can walk in it.

The Holy Spirit can convict one anywhere anytime anyplace. If one responds to the gospel message set forth plainly.
If one is truly born again and is allowing the Lord to lead they should have no problem if lead to give an alter call, giving one a chance to respond.
A lot of people think its an intellectual argument and not a personal encounter with God that must be won through steps and not heart application thus the reason one might say "Does your heart want the truth of who Jesus is"

The magic bullet for either saying everything correctly or everything incorrectly based off of mans wisdom comes to naught.
But the Man of God rightly dividing the word of truth examining himself, and including the ladies :) , would have no problem sharing it personally to the body or to an individual.

And in regard to the blood of our covenant express in Jesus atoning death for us lets read these two verses

Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Joh 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

So the whole counsel is needed.
We may hear some preach half truths but we are, hopefully, to redirect them towards right.

~Our response is our responsibility~mario

Ps. Salvation of one in time does have a fixed point, any other teaching other wise is total heresy :(
John 3:3 Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

You are right of course. Drake was asking HOW to be saved rather than how to walk in his Salvation. But if you look at the end of his post,
As i said before i don't know what to do to be saved but o how much i wish i knew. I don't even want anyone to respond to this cause all anyone is going to do is tell me a way to be saved and back it up using scriptures,
He said he doesn't want people quoting scriptures, so I was just suggesting for him to start doing something positive with his life while trying to figure things out.

You say:
first of all the person must be convinced that grace is needed.

Absolutely. How do you get someone to that point? Seems like that is the job of the Holy Spirit.

I think you are absolutely right. It is the relationship with Jesus that is most important. It should be set forth plainly that when people accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, that what they are saying is that he is their master and they will do what he says.

The magic bullet for either saying everything correctly or everything incorrectly based off of mans wisdom comes to naught.
But the Man of God rightly dividing the word of truth examining himself, and including the ladies :) , would have no problem sharing it personally to the body or to an individual.
Not sure I'm getting your point here. I think what you are saying is that we are not saved by theology, we are saved by faith. If that is what you are saying, I think you are absolutely right! But that is not to say that we can allow our faith to stagnate. We have to keep moving and growing to stay alive. IMO, I see it as a directional thing. As long as you are moving in the right direction, you're ok. Some people move very slowly and others move quickly. The point is that we need to keep striving one way or another ( 1 Cor 9:24, Heb 12:1).

Yes, but HOW do we eat his flesh and drink his blood? Communion? Perhaps John 6:63 is a clue?

Ps. Salvation of one in time does have a fixed point, any other teaching other wise is total heresy :(
Why does salvation have to have a "fixed point" ? Sounds like a man made doctrine to me.

John 3:3 Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Maybe we all need to be born again, again and again?
