I hope you're not suggesting that what you see in the scripture is the only way the Holy Spirit works. Because if you only see seven gifts of the Spirit could you call yourself an Authority because only you see seven gifts but not more, hypothetically

God's Word tells a person all the spiritual gifts there are. And we are also told the way the Holy Spirit works and what He does. And nothing hypothetical about it.

I don't. I respond that way tp your suggestion that I read about it in Ephesians 6 which I have studied so many many times.

And you Also ended your comments with ' that's my 2 cents worth.'. I've also read it a few times myself and see it a bit differently. I use the NKJV -- maybe you use a different version. But it's all God's Word so it won't be that much different.

God's Word tells a person all the spiritual gifts there are. And we are also told the way the Holy Spirit works and what He does. And nothing hypothetical about it.

We see it all the time, where various churches feel ' they are the authority, because they are enlightened by so much knowledge ' and it doesn't matter what anyone else says, not even Jesus. They are right and everyone else is wrong.

The 7 gifts of the Spirit, mentioned in Scripture are just a sampling. What gifts shown in scripture would these be categorized as. Multiply of Fish and Bread, walking on water, seeing through hills???

If we lump them into the gift of Miricles, then that Gift is huge.

What about the gift to remove demons? Understand Angels? Recognize Angels and /or recognize demons? What about the gift of running very fast ( i.e. Elijah)

There are so many Gifts written in the scripture. Yet because they are not called gifts, you are completely blind to them.

Let me ask you this, If you are crossing a road, and a firetruck is barreling down the road at you, do you need to find it in scripture to understand, you need to get out of the way? Of course not.

So why then are you so stubborn when it comes to seeing, God's Gifts are Unlimited.

The apostles themselves stated, there was way more said than was written. So why do you keep listening to the devil and thinking, this is all that was said.

When you quote scripture, i already know where it comes from before seeing chapter and verse. Infact i know the rest of the paragraph that it goes with.

Bill. Regarding your post 283. Who is the "we' you're talking about. And God's Word is my authority. 1 Corinthians 12 is one passage that lists 8 spiritual gifts.

Let us put this in perspective, you do not listen to what Jesus says, and you do not listen to what the apostles say. You only believe what you want to believe and that's it.

Why do I say you won't accept what Jesus says, it's because you simply do not even though I have quoted it to you number times you'll still will not even look at it.

Jesus says that others will come and do even greater things then he has done. If that is true and we know that it is because Jesus said it, then we have to realize that he has not told us everything up front and that there are more things to discover yet.

And you don't listen to the apostles because they themselves said that there would not be enough books in the world to cover all of what Jesus said. So obviously there is more more to understand more to discover the Bible is just the groundwork as Jesus says he is the Cornerstone he never said that he was the whole building that is for us to discover for us to grow for us to choose

Bill. You're adjusting God's Word to what you want it to say rather than your listening to and adjusting Your beliefs to God's Word.

There is a passage that says whatever you do in Word or deed -- do all to the glory of God.

And there is Philippians 4: 8

The antichrist is going to try to mimic Jesus Christ in order to deceive born-again believers. And yes there Are many things that Jesus did while here on earth to show us that there Is someone greater than ourselves in charge.

That's why I say that you do take God's word and apply it to Your perspective or out of its intended context .

Please don't take this the wrong way, but by what authority are you able to determine "what it's intended to mean"? (In order for you to tell a fellow brother what is "way beyond"?)

I can post my answer to that question, but I'd like to hear it from you first. (Maybe I'm missing something.)

The word used here is rhema (not logos) and so it speaks of when God is speaking with us in prayer, and when the Spirit speaks to us through the written word, So you were correct, in that, it is NOT the written word that is being spoken of here. The written word is not the Sword here.

Thank you kindly, Brother Paul. It was somewhat of a shock when I first discovered this too, and its corollary - the SWORD is PRAYER (or more technically the pommel of the sword). It was decades ago, and in the interim I've found just how powerful prayer (when practiced) can be.

If i could add to this, " the Sword of God " . Is much more than just words. As Jesus is more than just flesh and blood.

When we think of Jesus, to our minds may come the person, Jesus. But as i told Sue, Jesus is also the Word transcribed into the Two Stone tablets given to Moses. Jesus ( as Peter stated ) is the Rock that followed the Israelites around the desert for 40 years.

The Words of scripture are both spiritual and physical at the same time. As the Word is Jesus. Both God and Man.

The example of this is Jesus saying to the man, "your sins are forgiven" then saying "get up and walk" .

So when the Sword of God is mentioned, we are reading what is both physical and spiritual at the same time. Our problem is we are human, and we don't use dual words.

The Jews are the only people i know of who designed words to represent two to mean one. Moses speaking to God. The literal translation of "I am who am" is "I's am whom am".

Jesus tells us to eat His flesh and drink His blood.

Does this make us canables? Of couse not.

But the question remains. If people are not recieving Jesus in the bread and wine. If you are not calling Mary "Blessed", why are you calling yourself Christian. Obviously you are not doing what Jesus asks of us.

Jesus say to do the will of the Father.

In both the Hebrew and the Greek LXX, the " I " is singular, not plural.

I know of a Michael Cadry in Phoenix who openly claims such a thing, and (oh my, he just passed away last August... . I did not know until now).
